If you are getting stuck in your preparation, don't hesitate to take the help of peer, mentor, or your teacher.

Q:   Can I take mock tests of other exams to prepare for NIFT 2024 exam?

A:
Along with sample papers, mock tests are considered essential tools to prepare for the NIFT 2024 exam. However, considering the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) may or may not conduct mock tests for the NIFT 2024 exam, the candidate may conduct mock tests of other exams. For instance, the candidate may take mock tests conducted by the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID). But it may be noted that the difficulty level of the SEED exam is not at par with the NIFT exam. So, while mock tests will help the candidate get an exam like ambience, it is not enough. It is therefore recommended that the candidate solves as many sample papers to improve ones problem-solving and time-management skills.

Also, previous years papers are great tools to improve ones time-management and problem-solving skills. By analyzing the previous years question papers, the candidate may also figure out trends that are followed in drafting question. Further, note that there are some questions that may be repeated, with a slight change in the wording or concept. If the candidate solves previous years question papers, the candidate will be able to easily solve them.

Q. Any specific books I can refer to?

Kalyani Pareek: None

Q. What kind of questions are asked in the personal interview?

Kalyani Pareek: The questions are very you-specific. They only try to get to know you, that's all. There are no questions to test you, your knowledge or your creativity. They have already done that. Just be super sure about yourself

Q. What are the various stages of the personal interview?

Kalyani Pareek: The interview lasts 10-20 minutes and there's no structure to it. They'll ask you to introduce yourself and then go a little deeper into what you have already told them. It would be nothing that you wouldn't know already. And if you don't, or if you're unsure, it's okay to admit it.

Q. Items I need to carry for the interview?

Kalyani Pareek: Nothing really. Not even your portfolio. It's not required and they don't look at it even if you have one.

Q. Is there any fixed time allocated for the personal interview and on the number of questions being asked?

Kalyani Pareek: No, you'll only have a time slot but nothing too stringent.

Q. Do I need to dress in any particular way?

Kalyani Pareek: There are no guidelines regarding your outfit, just don't wear anything that you might deem as inappropriate for an interview but I am sure that you will not.

Q. The Personal Interview for NIFT 2023 will be conducted online via Zoom Link? How different it is from an offline interaction?

Kalyani Pareek: The interviews have been online for the last couple of years. There's not much of a difference except that it's more convenient. Try to make sure you have a stable internet connection and proper lighting in the room. Clear your camera and set it at eye level and not too below or above.

Q. Any other important points you want to suggest for the interview?

Kalyani Pareek: Additional:

1) If you don't know something, admit it.

2) Try to show more of you during the interview. Do not pretend.

3) Be honest about everything including why NIFT, why this course etc. even if you don't know anything about the course.

4) The interview will be smooth but if there's any conflict, do not argue.

Rest, all the best!
