UCEED 2017 was conducted across 19 test cities in India today. Shiksha is reporting live from iON Digital Zone iDZ 2, Delhi where 887 candidates appeared for the exam.
In UCEED 2017 candidates had to attempt a total of 85 questions which were spread across three sections – Numerical Answer Type (NAT), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), and Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The paper was conducted in the online mode as a computer based test and candidates had to complete the exam in three hours duration starting from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
UCEED exam was conducted by IIT Bombay for the third time on January 22, 2017. Check colleges accepting UCEED 2017 scores for admissions.
Reaction of students after UCEED exam was mixed. Some candidates felt that the exam was good and easy while others felt it was lengthy and tricky.

However, the general consensus of students revealed that UCEED was tougher as compared to NID DAT 2017 for BDes course admissions.
UCEED 2017: Difficulty Level
Talking about how her exam went, Tanya, a student from Ahlcon International School, New Delhi said “My exam went average as third section (Section C) was quite tricky. I couldn’t get the answers in Section C. As there was negative marking in that section it was better to leave the questions rather than getting minus one in the exam. I left 17 questions in total - two questions from Section A and 15 questions from Section C."
Speaking about the section-wise difficulty of the exam, Tanya further revealed, “In Section A (NAT) we had to solve the questions and so the difficulty level was average. Questions in Section B were easy. In Section C, I had to be really serious and focused because of the negative marking.”
Another student, Shivam Khurana felt that “the paper was good but tricky. Last section (Section C) was a bit difficult as compared to previous two sections. In the last section, I left some questions because of negative marking.”
Himang who came all the way from Gwalior to give UCEED 2017 exam felt that it was an observation-based paper. He said, “I found Section C to be the toughest as it had negative marking. Overall, the paper went okay.”
Soumya, a resident of Meerut city, who wishes to join IIT Bombay if she clears UCEED 2017, said, “Overall the paper was nice and easy. However, out of the three sections, I found Section A to be the most difficult. I left total seven questions in the exam.” Talking about the marking scheme of the exam, Soumya revealed, “Section A was of 80 marks, Section B was of 100 marks and Section C was of 120 marks. Overall, it was a 300 marks paper. Each question in Section A and Section B was of four marks. In Section C, one question was of three marks. Out of all the three sections only Section C had negative marking.”
Anushka Sarin from DPS Saharanpur felt that “the paper was really lengthy and difficult. I was not able to attempt all questions. Also, Section B was really confusing.”
Aakriti Srivastava, a student of Chiranjiv Bharti School, also had similar views. She said, “The paper was quite difficult. Of the three sections, Section B and C contained difficult questions. But Section C was definitely the most difficult.”
UCEED 2017: Exam Pattern
A majority of candidates shared that the exam pattern for UCEED 2017 was similar to last year. According to Himang, “The exam pattern for UCEED 2017 was same as compared to last year. However, the difficulty level of questions asked in the exam this year was higher."
Anushka Sarin also hold similar views when she said, “As compared to 2015, the paper was really hard this time. But the pattern was more or less the same.” Aakriti Srivastava who gave the exam for second time also shared that “the exam pattern was same but difficulty level was much higher.”
UCEED 2017: Computer Based Experience
At the test centre from where Shiksha was reporting live, all students shared that the experience of giving a computer based test was really good and there were no glitches.
Prateem, a student from Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, shared that her experience of giving a CBT was good. “All faculties were there to support us. Everything was systematic,” said Prateem.
However, Himang shared, “I gave a computer based test for the first time so it was a new experience for me. I faced little difficulty in getting hang of it.”
According to Soumya, “giving a computer based test was easier as compared to a written based exam.” Also, Aakriti said, “Since it was my second attempt for the exam I was able to manage it well.”
UCEED vs NID Entrance Exam: Difficulty Level
Most of the students who gave UCEED 2017 had already appeared for NID DAT exam. We asked candidates to compare the difficulty level of both the exams wherein most of them shared that UCEED was tougher. Find out what student had to say about NID DAT 2017 difficulty level here.
According to Shivam, “As compared to NID DAT 2017, UCEED exam was lengthier. Also, questions asked in UCEED were trickier and more difficult.”
Aakriti also felt the same and said, “UCEED was definitely more difficult as compared to NID DAT. The difficulty level of questions asked in UCEED exam was higher.”
However, Tanya did not hold a similar view. She said, “NID DAT was tougher as it was lengthier. I couldn’t complete NID DAT paper on time and left the drawing part. We didn’t have drawing part in this exam and so the paper went better.”
