The Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) is organized by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay. This entrance test is for admission to the Bachelor of Design (B. Des) program offered by participating colleges. The UCEED 2025 exam will be held on January 19, 2025. 

The application form for UCEED 2025 is now closed.

Meanwhile, the UCEED 2025 exam will be conducted on January 19, 2025 (9 am - 12 noon).

The question paper of UCEED 2025 will have two sections - Part A (2 hours) and Part B (60 minutes).

Also, Part B will now have two questions - one question will be drawing-based, while the other question will be design-aptitude-based.

Part A will contain questions related to Visualization and spatial reasoning, Observation and design sensitivity, Environment and Society, Analytical and logical reasoning, Language and creativity, and Practical and scientific knowledge. 

Q:   What types of questions will be asked in Section 1 of UCEED 2025 question paper?

A:

Section 1 of the UCEED question paper 2025 will include NAT (Numerical Answer Type). There will be a total of 18 questions, each carrying 4 marks. There is no negative marking for an incorrect attempt. For NAT-type questions, the answer will be a number that the candidate needs to be entered using a virtual keyboard in the computer screen. Note that the candidate will not be given any choices for these questions.

Q:   What types of questions will be asked in UCEED 2025?

A:

The UCEED exam will have two parts - Part A and Part B. Part A will include Numerical Answer Type NAT Multiple Select Question (MSQ), Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Meanwhile, Part B will include drawing and aptitude-based questions. Note that in the previous edition of the exam, Part B include only sketching-based question. So, starting UCEED 2024, the candidate also needs to prepare for aptitude based questions that will be asked in Part B. Questions for the aptitude section will evaluate the ability of the candidate to practically and appropriately respond to problems/situations with ingenuity and empathy.

Q:   What do I need to know about the UCEED 2025 question paper?

A:

The UCEED question paper will be of 3 hours and include two parts - The computer-based Part A and the offline-based Part B. It is mandatory for candidates to appear in both the paper. 

Also, Part B paper answer booklets will only be evaluated if the candidate qualifies Part A. IIT Bombay will release the cut-off marks for Part A before the declaration of results. 

Part A will include the following types of questions: Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Multiple Select Question (MSQ) Multiple Choice Question (MCQ). Part A will now include 57 questions.

Meanwhile, Part B will include 2 questions; this includes a sketching-based and an aptitide-based question.

Question 2. Write down and sketch 5 creative uses of any one of the following: - Old clothes - Delivery cartoon boxes - Plastic soft drink bottles.

Question 3. Draw any one of the following scenes:

  • The view of the traffic signal from inside the car.
  • A street play being organized
  • A community festival celebration

Question 4. Draw the scene at a children’s park at noon. Visualize that it is a local council park with appropriate equipment. You have to imagine the type of people and the state of the park while sketching. Do not color.

Question 5. Write a short story using the principal characters of a Circle, Square, and Triangle. The story should have the following emotions- Anger, Love, Happiness, Frustration. Show the story in the form of a comic strip in 6 boxes. Do not color.

Q:   What format can I download for the UCEED question papers?

A:
The question papers of UCEED will be available in pdf format. You can download the question papers at UCEED. Iitb. AC. In. To download the question paper for a specific year, go to the portal and click on downloads. In the page that opens, you can find the question banks for UCEED. The corresponding answer keys for each question paper is also available. You can download the question papers and answer key and start practicing for UCEED 2024 exam.

Q:   Who will set the UCEED 2025 question paper?

A:

IIT Bombay which is the exam conducting body of UCEED 2025 will prepare the question paper for the entrance exam. The question paper of UCEED 2025 will include two parts - Part A and Part B. It is mandatory for candidates to appear in both the parts and also qualify Part A. Note that Part B answer booklet will only be evaluated if the candidate qualifies Part A.

Note that IIT Bombay has revised the syllabus for the UCEED 2025 exam. Now Part B of the question paper will include two questions - one question will be aptitude-based, while the second question will be sketching-based. The test duration for Paper B has also been increased to 60 minutes (from 30 minutes).

Q:   Can I download previous years UCEED question papers along with answer keys for practice?

A:
IIT Bombay releases the question papers for the UCEED exam along with the answer keys. The question papers for UCEED 2024 exam will be released within a day or two of the conduct of the UCEED 2024 exam. Further, the UCEED admission portal has question banks starting from 2015 to 2023 that candidates can download for free. The corresponding answer keys are also available. To download a sample paper, the candidate simply needs to click on the corresponding question paper; no log-in is required. Alternately, the candidate can download previous years question papers from this page.

Q:   Do I need a log-in ID to download UCEED question papers 2025?

A:

The question paper of UCEED 2025 exam will uploaded online at the UCEED-IIT Bombay admission portal UCEED. Iitb. AC. In. The question paper for UCEED 2024 will be released in downloadable pdf format, along with the answer key. To download the answer key, you simply need to click on the answer key link, and then download it in pdf format. Also, no log-in is required to download the answer key. You can also download the question paper from the download section. Go to downloads, and select the question paper you want to download.

Q:   What types of questions will be asked in Section 3 of UCEED question paper?

A:

The Part A question paper will include three sections. Of these three sections, Section 3 will include 28 multiple-choice questions. Each of these questions will carry 3 marks, while 0.71 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer. So, the total marks for the section will be 96 marks. Each MCQ will be followed by four answer choices. Out of these four choices, only one is the correct answer.

Question 6. If birds were frogs and frogs were birds. Draw how the frog and bird would look. Use dry colors.

Question 7. Write and explain how speakers work. Design a new speaker using only environmentally friendly speakers work. Show your design through sketches and notes.

Question 8. Imagine that you are a wish-granting genie, living inside a lamp for years. Identify at least 4 problems associated with this and come up with creative solutions to address them. Present it through sketches and notes.

Question 9. Assume that a famous historic event or fact had never happened or happened differently. For example, what if the British never ruled India or what if Hitler was killed in his childhood. Imagine 4 ways in which the world around would have been different. Show through sketches and notes.

Question 10. Draw a top view of a super market with necessary details.

Question 11. Draw your hand holding a pencil, draw a person sitting on a chair, still life drawings of bottles, etc. This mainly tests your basic fine art skills for perspective, human, animal, textures, shade, and shadow, etc.

Question 12. Design a poster for social campaigns of the Government of India- Inclusion of LGBTQ - Communal Harmony. Use dry colors.

Question 13. Imagine you are sitting in stadium watching ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 between India and Pakistan. India is batting and Pakistani team is bowling. Draw the perspective image keeping the necessary details in mind.

Question 14. You have been teleported to the Mughal Era from 2019. Imagine and explain through sketches and notes: - one product you would take from this year with you to the past and why. - one product you would bring back from the Mughal era and why.

Question 15. The United Nation member states have agreed upon Sustainable Development Goals 2030. Take any one goal agreed by them and prepare a poster to promote that goal. Use dry colors.

Tips for UCEED 2023 Sketching Part:

  • Try to sketch almost anything and everything you come across. Practice is the key to success.
  • Browse through various newspapers, magazines and online sites and draw situational view from them.
  • Always take ideas from various advertisements, posters, banners etc., you come across.
  • Avoid or use eraser minimum while practicing. It’ll help your lines become bolder and confident.
  • Detailing is very important. Add every minimal detail to your sketch.
  • Try to work of human figures and illustration. Concentrate more in proportions, form etc.
