Candidates seeking admission to BTech courses through CUET have the option of taking admission to colleges like BHU, DU, and many other central, state universities. Unlike JEE Main, CUET is conducted once a year in May and covers only the class 12 syllabus.

Q:   How many candidates appear in JEE Mains?

A:

In JEE Main 2024, the total number of candidates who appeared in the exam is 11.7 lakh. This is the highest number ever since the inception of JEE Mains exam. Canddiates can see the gender-wise distribution of candidates below. Generally, the number of unique candidates appearing in JEE Main every year is around 10 Lacs in both sessions. Around 6-7 Lacs candidates appear in every session of JEE Mains. As there are several candidates appearing in both the sesisons, the total number would be around 12-13 Lacs with unique candidates around 10 lakh. The exact number of students is released by the NTA every year on the official website with category, gender and state-wise data. Candidates can check the number of candidates appearing in JEE Mains every year on this Shiksha page.

Q:   What is the age limit to apply for JEE Main?

A:

As per the JEE Main eligibility criteria released by the NTA there is no maximum or minimum age to apply for JEE Main. Candidates of any age can apply and appear in the JEE Main exam. The only criteria which is applicable is that the candidate can appear in JEE Mains for three consecutive years from the year of passing class 12. For example, if a candidate is applying for JEE Main 2024, candidate must have passed class 12 in 2022, 2023 or appearing in 2024.

Q:   How many minimum marks are required to clear JEE Mains?

A:
The minimum marks required to clear JEE Mains depends on your category. If you are an SC candidate then your cut off is 48, for ST candidate your cut off will be 56, for OBC candidate the cutoff will be 72 and for OC candidate it is 100. This is based on the year wise analysis. This needs not to be same every year. But the variation will not be very large, it just varies by 2-3 marks.

CUET 2024 exam was conducted online and the question paper had Multiple Choice Questions. In CUET, Students can select the subjects in which they want to appear based on their course preference and the eligibility criteria of the institution.

How to Get BTech Admission Through CUET 

The first step in getting admission in BTech through CUET is to fill the application form and appear in the exam. Candidates have to select a subject combination as per the requirement of the institute in which admission is desired while filling the application form.

After obtaining a valid score in CUET, candidates need to fill the counselling registration form of the institute. The college will allot BTech admission through CUET score based on the CUET BTech cutoff.

Q:   What is JEE Main Eligibility marks in class 12th?

A:

NTA JEE Main eligibility criteria for candidates to appear in the exam is

  • There is no minimum or maximum percentage required to appear in JEE Main. However, candidate need to have 75% marks in class 12 in addition to a valid JEE Main rank in order to get admission in NITs, IIITs and other CFTIs.  
  • Candidate must have passed class 12 in 2022, 2023 or appearing in 2024
  • Candidate must have Maths and Physics as a compulsory subejct in class 12 for Paper 1 (BTech)
  • For Paper 2A (BArch), it is compulsory to have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in class 12 and for Paper 2B (BPlan), candidate must have Mathematics in class 12
  • There is no age limit to apply for JEE Main

 

Q:   Is the criteria of 75% marks in class 12 applicable in JEE Main 2025?

A:

Hello candidate, there is no such requirement of 75% marks in class 12 for appearing in JEE Mains. The eligibility criteria of minimum 75% marks in class 12 is required at the time of admission in NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. You can apply and appear in JEE Mains 2025 irrespective of your class 12 marks. The detailed JEE Main eligibility criteria 2025 can be checked on the respective official website. You are further advised to carefully check the detailed eligibility criteria before filling the JEE Main application form 2025.

Q:   Can a commerce/non-science student apply for JEE Mains?

A:

Candidates applying for JEE Main need to fulfill the following subject combination

  • For Paper 1 (BE/BTech), candidates must have Physics and Maths in Class 12 and any one subject from Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical vocational subject.
  • For Paper 2A (BArch), candidates must have Physics, Chemistry, and Maths in Class 12.
  • For Paper 2B (BPlan), candidates must have Maths in Class 12.

Q:   What is JEE Main Eligibility Criteria?

A:

The eligibility criteria to appear in JEE Main are

  • Candidate must have passed or appearing in class 12
  • There is no age limit to appear in JEE Mains
  • No minimum percentage is required to appear in the JEE Mains exam. 75% marks required after qualifying JEE Mains for admission in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs
  • Candidates must have Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry/any other vocational subject for Paper 1 (BE/B.Tech). For paper 2, candidates need to have Mathematics as compulsory subject along with any other subject combination. Candidates can appear in JEE for three consecutive years from the year of passing class 12

Q:   How do I know if I am qualified for appearing in JEE Advanced exam?

A:

Candidates need to check the JEE Main cutoff mentioned on their JEE Main result/scorecard and see whether they have obtained aggregate percentile score equal to or above the cutoff. JEE Main cutoff is different for all categories. Candidates can check category-wise JEE Main cutoff on the Shiksha page as well as in their scorecard. Only those candidates who have score equal to or above then the cutoff are allowed to appear in JEE Advanced exam. Admission in IITs is though JEE Advanced while NITs, IIITs and GFTIs offer admission based on JEE Mains rank. The JEE Main cutoff for JEE Advanvced is released with the JEE Main final scorecard after the exam for both sessions are over.

Advantage of CUET over JEE Main

CUET has two main benefits over JEE Main

  • CUET offers admission to many other courses besides BTech. Students who select Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as their domain subjects in CUET can also participate for admission in BSc, BCA, BSc IT, and BCom courses in various Central and State Universities.
  • The syllabus of CUET covers only class 12 topics while JEE Main syllabus covers topics of both class 11 and 12. Students have to study more topics in JEE Main as compared to CUET

CUET BTech Eligibility Criteria 2024

It is important to check the eligibility criteria of BTech admission through CUET. Provided below are the conditions every candidate should fulfill to get admission to BTech through CUET.

  • Should opt of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Group II of CUET
  • Passed Class 12 or its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM) OR Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology (PCMB) with English from a Board/University recognized by the Institute/Board
  • Scored at least 50% marks or equivalent G.P.A. in aggregate in class 12.
  • Candidate should not be more than 23 years on 1st July 2024 (applicant should be born on or after 2nd July of 2001).
