GATE ECE 2022 Paper Analysis: Highlights

As mentioned above, the GATE ECE 2022 exam was conducted for three hours. The 100 marks paper comprised multiple choice and numerical answer type questions. Now let us take a look at the highlights of the GATE ECE paper analysis:

Q:   Is it necessary for a candidate to attempt all questions in GATE?

A:

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. It is a national-level examination conducted for Master of Engineering (ME), Masters in Technology (M.Tech), and direct Ph.D. admissions to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other institutes/universities across India.

The GATE paper consists of a total of 65 questions. Check below for the GATE exam pattern. - The GATE Questions paper consists of two sections, namely General Aptitude (GA) (15 marks) and the subject-specific GATE paper (85 marks). - The General Aptitude (GA) section consists of 10 questions. 1 to 5 questions are worth 1 mark each, and the rest, 6 to 10, are worth 2 marks each. - The GATE paper subject-specific section consists of 55 questions, of which 1 to 25 are of 1 mark each and questions from 26 to 55 are of 2 marks each. - Here to be noted that, questions that are not attempted will result in zero marks. Therefore, wrong answers to multiple-choice questions (MCQs) will result in negative marking. For questions of the numerical answer type, there is no negative marking. Also, for MCQ questions, a wrong answer will result in a deduction of 1/3 mark for a 1-mark question and 2/3 mark for a 2-mark question. A:

To be eligible for IIT Kharagpur's Joint MTech/MCP PhD programme, candidates need a BE/BTech/BArch degree or a master's in Science/Arts with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ST/PwD). Qualifications from exams by recognised professional societies are also accepted. Applicants must have a valid GATE score relevant to their qualifying discipline, and in the absence of a specific GATE paper, XE/XL/XH papers can be considered. NET-qualified candidates with a fellowship in MA/MSc Economics/Sociology/Geography, having studied Mathematics/Statistics, are eligible for MCP-PhD. A master's in Science requires a 60% or above aggregate (55% for Arts/Social Science subjects). GATE is the accepted entrance exam.

Q:   Can I join M.Tech in mining without qualifying GATE?

A:
Note that the IIT graduates having CGPA of 8.0 or above will be eligible for direct admission at IIT Kharagpur without a GATE score 2023. The institute has scrapped the written tests/interviews of shortlisted candidates. The admissions will be conducted on the basis of the GATE 2023 score only.

Q:   What are the eligibility criteria for admission to the LLM programme at IIT Kharagpur?

A:

For candidates looking to dive into the LLM programme at IIT Kharagpur, having a robust LLB/BL background is a must, and it should be crowned with a first-class degree from a recognised university. If you've opted for the three-year LLB/BL journey, ensure you also showcase a first-class bachelor's degree in Humanities/Science/Commerce or a related field, scoring a minimum of 60% or a respectable CGPA of 6.5 on that 10-point scale.

Q:   Can I get admission at IIT Kharagpur in BTech CSE if my rank is between 0 and 5000?

A:

The cut off rank in Round 6 for B.Tech. (Hons.) in Computer Science and Engineering is 279 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one can not afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut offs keep changing from round to round, better ranks definitely increases your chances of getting admission in IIT Kharagpur - Indian Institute of Technology.
