JEE Advanced 2024 Paper 2 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern of JEE Advanced 2024 Paper 2 exam is given below:

  1. Total Marks of Paper 2 was 180 & Duration: 3 hrs.
  2. The Paper had (51) questions with 17 questions in each subject.
  3. Total no. of questions in Paper-2 were 51 .
  4. Total Marks of Paper-2 was 180 which is same as last year.
  5. The Paper-2 had (03) three parts- Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.
  6. Max. Marks for each Part was 60.
  7. In each part there were Four sections:
    • Sec-I (Max. marks-12)
    • Sec-II (Max. Marks-12)
    • Sec-III (Max. marks-24)
    • Sec-IV (Max. marks-12)
  8. Sec-I had (04) Four Questions with four options in which only ONE option was correct. Marking scheme in this section:
    • Full marks: +3 If only the correct option is chosen
    • Zero Marks:: 0  If none of the options are chosen
    • Negative Marks: -1 In all other cases
  9. Sec-II had (03) Four questions with four options in which ONE OR MORE THAN ONE option(s) were correct. Marking scheme in this section:
    • Full marks: +4  If only (all)  the correct options are chosen
    • Partial Marks: +3 If all the four options are correct but ONLY three correct options are chosen
    • Partial Marks: +2 If three or more options are correct but only two correct options are chosen
    • Partial Marks: +1 If two or more options are correct but only one correct option is chosen
    • Zero Marks:: 0  If none of the options are chosen
    • Negative Marks: -2 In all other cases
  10. Sec-III had (06) Six questions of Numerical Based (Non-Negative Integer Type). Marking scheme in this section:
    • Full marks: +4 for the correct answer

  11. Sec-IV had (04) Four questions based on Two Paragraphs with (02) Two questions in each paragraph (Numerical based Decimal Type with answer correct to 2 decimal places). Marking scheme in this section:

JEE Advanced 2024 Result

The JEE Advanced 2024 results are accessible online through the official website, where candidates can log in to view their scores and download their scorecards. Moreover, candidates will receive result details via text messages sent to their registered mobile numbers. However, individual rank cards will not be issued.

In determining a candidate's marks in Physics, the sum of scores from both Paper 1 and Paper 2's Physics sections is calculated. Similarly, marks in Chemistry and Mathematics are computed likewise. The total aggregate marks comprise the combined scores in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Qualifying in JEE Advanced 2024 necessitates candidates to attain a minimum percentage of marks in each subject as well as in the overall aggregate, based on their respective categories.

Rankings are determined by the aggregate marks obtained in JEE Advanced 2024. Only candidates who have attempted both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be considered for ranking, with no provision for a waiting list.

JEE Advanced has two papers. Each paper has 3 parts (Physics, Chemistry and Maths) and each part has four sections. Every section has a particular marking scheme. As per the later paper pattern, the marking scheme in each of these sections are as follows:
