Q:   What type of questions are asked in JEE Main?

A:

The JEE Main question paper will have questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as per the prescribed syllabus. Each Subject will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any 05 (five) questions out of 10. There will be negative marking for both Section A and Section B. For each question in Section B.A. Candidate has to enter the correct integer value of the answer using the mouse and the on-screen virtual numeric keypad in the place designated to enter the answer. For Section B, the answer should be rounded off to the nearest integer.

Q:   What are the main subjects of JEE Main?

A:

JEE Main exam has three subjects- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Question paper of JEE Main is prepared with questions from all the three subjects with equal weightage of 33%. A total of 90 questions are asked in the exam, 30 each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The syllabus of JEE Mains for all three subjects is as per the CBSE/NCERT textbook of class 11 and 12. Candidates can check the syllabus from the official website of JEE Main or from the Shiksha page.

Q:   Can I change the language of the question paper during the exam?

A:
Question paper during the exam will be visible in English Hindi Urdu and the language selected by the candidate while filling the JEE Main application form. Candidates can switch the language of question paper between the default languages which is English Hindi Urdu and selected language in the application. In total, JEE Main is conducted in 13 languages and candidates have the option to select any language out of the available options. Candidates cannot switch the language of question paper between all 13 languages during the exam.

A:
The high weightage topics from class 11 and 12 Physics as per previous year paper analysis are Current Electricity Waves AC, Magnetism, Laws of Motion Work, Power and Energy. In Chemistry the high weightage topics are s and p block elements, Coordination compounds, Thermodynamics Gaseous state, Chemical bonding, Atomic structure, Polymers, Environmental Chemistry Organic Chemistry. In Mathematics, the high weightage topics are Sequence and Series Vectors and 3D, Integral and Differential Calculus, Definite and Indefinite Integral.

Q:   Where can I get previous year JEE Main question papers?

Q:   What is the sequence of sections in the JEE Mains question paper?

A:

As per the sequence of subject/section in JEE Main, Mathematics is the first section followed by Physics and Chemistry. However, students have the option of appearing questions from any section based on their preference. During the actual exam, students are provided the instructions on the computer screen to navigate between one section to other. Students also have the option to skip the next question without appearing the current as well as moving back to the previous question. To better understand the qustion paper, students can check the official JEE Main exam pattern mentioned in the NTA portal.

Q:   What is the language of JEE Main exam question paper?

A:

JEE Main exam is conducted in a total of 13 languages - English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. Candidates can select their preferred language in which they wish to appear in the exam at the time of filling the application form. During the exam, the question paper will be available in two language, English and the language selected at the time of filling the form. Candidates can switch between the two langauge during the exam from their computer screen. The language of question paper can not be changed after filling the application form.

JEE Main 2024 April 9 Shift 1 Question Paper Analysis by FIITJEE

As per student reactions, the overall difficulty level of the exam was Moderate. Mathematics was Moderate while Chemistry was Easy. Physics was Easy to Moderate.

Section-wise is mentioned below:

Mathematics: Questions were asked from all chapters with emphasis on Chapters of Calculus & Algebra. Questions asked from Matrices -2 ques, 3 D Geometry & Vectors-4 ques, Permutation & Combination, Probability-2 ques, Complex Numbers, Statistics, Progressions, Quadratic Equations, Composite Function, Limits, Continuity & Differentiability, Application of Derivative, Definite Integrals, Differential Equations, Area, Straight Line, Circle, Ellipse amongst Conic Sections with mixed concept questions. The Numerical Section had lengthy calculations from chapters of Calculus & Algebra. A few questions were reported as Lengthy & Tricky.

Physics: Questions were asked from Kinematics, SHM, Work, Power & Energy, Gravitation, Laws of Motion,  Rotational Motion, EM Waves, Magnetism, Wave Optics, Current Electricity, Electromagnetic Induction, AC Circuits, Modern Physics, , Atoms & Nuclei. Few fact-based questions from class XII chapters of NCERT were also asked. Numerical based questions were Lengthy and Easy.

Chemistry: Organic & Inorganic Chemistry were given more weightage compared to Physical Chemistry. Questions asked from Coordination Compounds, p-block elements, Chemical Bonding, d & f Block elements, Stoichiometry, Chemical Kinetics, General Organic Chemistry, Alcohol, Ether & Phenol, Biomolecules, Amines, Carboxylic Acids, with mixed concept questions. Some fact-based questions from NCERT were asked.

As per the students' reactions:

  • The overall difficulty level of JEE Main 2024 April 9 is Moderate.
  • Physics: Easy, Modern Physics (4 to 5 Ques asked). One different question also asked in Physics related to magnitude. Current Electricity, Circuits, Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics.
  • Chemistry: Easy. NCERT based. DNA structure, D block, more questions asked from organic and then from inorganic, etc. Topics asked are Bonding, Structure, Periodic, Assertion, Coordination, Block Chemistry, Salt, and Biomolecules.
  • Maths: Doable & Lengthy. Probability, Vector 3D, Calculus, Quadratics, Permutations and Combinations, Integral Calculus, Limit and Continuity.
  • April Session is not that easy as compared to January 2024 session
  • As per some students, today's shift 1 is easy as compared to all the JEE Main 2024 Session 2 shifts.
