JoSAA 2024
JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) has been set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) to manage and regulate joint seat allocation for admissions to over 100 institutes, including NITs, NITs, NITs, and other government technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). Admissions to all these institutes will be done through a single platform. The idea behind introducing a single counselling platform is to reduce thousands of seats going vacant in engineering colleges across the country. The Joint seat allocation process is introduced to make the whole process of admissions smoother, more effective, efficient, transparent, and a lot faster.

Yes. JEE Advanced counselling is conducted by JoSAA. The candidates with JEE Advanced rank have to register for JoSAA counselling for admission to the IITs.

To get a government engineering college in Punjab through JoSAA, aim for a JEE Mains rank within 10,000–30,000 for top colleges like PEC and NIT Jalandhar. Rankings of 70,000 or higher may be adequate for state quotas or lower-tier universities, depending on the branch and category.

It is possible for you to secure a seat in an NIT (National Institute of Technology), although it may not guarantee your preferred branch or institute. If your percentile is above 96, your chances of getting into a respectable NIT increases, but you may need to compromise on your branch selection. However, if you aim for a decent NIT with a preferred branch in the core field, you would need to score above 97.5%. On the other hand, if your goal is to get admission to a top college with the CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) branch, your score would need to be higher than 99.4%.
