Q. Congratulations on your achievement. So, how do you feel being the AIR 3 Topper of JEE Advanced 2016? Did you expect being one of the toppers of the exam?
A. I feel really good. Actually, I never expected such a rank. I thought I would be in the Top 100 but getting an AIR 3 is something I never expected. It’s a great thing for me. I am very excited.
Q. What is your overall score?
A. My score was 310/372. I do not remember my subject wise score as of now. Have been really busy since the ranks came out.
Q. How long have you been preparing? And what was your study plan like for JEE Advanced 2016?
A. I started preparing for JEE from 11th only. After coming back from school and coaching classes, I used to study 5 to 6 hours daily. I used to revise a lot in the last few days before the exam. I marked important points and topics from whatever I studied in the last two years and revised the same in the last few days before JEE Advanced 2016.
I concentrated on all the three subjects equally. But I like Physics and Mathematics more than Chemistry. These are my interest subjects.
I’ve developed an ability to concentrate deeply in whatever I’m doing. This way I know I can handle any kind of stress.
Q. What was your score in JEE Main 2016? What was XII board marks?
A. In JEE Main 2016, I scored 290/360 and in 12th Boards, I scored 95.2% . I am a CBSE Board student.
Q. Have you taken any other exam?
A. I cleared NTSE in 10th and KVPY in 11th. Besides this, I took BITSAT 2016 and scored 418.
Q. Which IIT are you aiming at and which stream do you wish to pursue?
A.I want to get into IIT Bombay for Computer Science.
Q. Any tips for aspirants who would be taking the exam next year?
A. Students who aim for JEE Advanced make a note of important points across subjects that they think they would forget. Also, aspirants should not compare oneself with anyone. It adds on to the burden and creates unnecessary pressure.
Q. Tell us about your family background?
A. My father is an engineer and my mother is a homemaker. I have an elder sister who is currently pursuing her BE.
Q. Any future plans?
A. I have not yet thought about what I would want to do once I graduate. I still need to decide.
