Student’s Speak: Placement in top companies cannot happen overnight
By: Madhav Sharma
Finding placements in top companies is not an overnight process and performance throughout your graduation will make an impact. Madhav Sharma shares tips on how to clear technical interview rounds.
I have seen many students who panic during the start of their placement process. First and foremost, you need to worry about your placements and I agree that getting placed is the most important aspect of a student’s life. But placements cannot just happen overnight. You have to work hard during your whole graduation. You can’t just study for one semester and get good placements.
So, I would suggest set your goal or aim when you enter a college for the first time. For example, if you are from Computer Science background then you must have a good knowledge of coding. Without learning to code, you can’t even think of reaching out to a good IT company. Computer science is all about Programming. When a company comes for the campus recruitment process, they usually conduct some tests which include an aptitude test, technical test and the last round which will be your face to face interview. Some companies conduct Group Discussion rounds as well. So, for such rounds, you should have good communication skills.
Talking about other rounds, first, you have to practice some basic aptitude questions so that you will be able to clear the aptitude test. Aptitude test contains some logical reasoning questions, basic mathematics questions, verbal questions, etc. You can practice these types of questions from some books or you can get questions on the internet as well. There is no limit on how many questions you practice. If you clear your aptitude round then there could be a technical round wherein you’ll be asked the basics of your domain. To a computer science background student, they can ask questions regarding data structure, DAA, DBMS, etc. if your basics are clear then this round will not be difficult.
To revise questions based on these subjects, there are many websites available on the internet such as GeeksforGeek, Tutorial point, etc. There you can find basic questions for these subjects. If you clear the Technical round then there will be a Coding round wherein some coding questions will be asked and you have to create codes for those problems. If you want to get familiar with the coding questions or platforms that are used by the companies then you can practice coding problems on platforms such as Hacker rank, Hacker Earth, etc. After clearing these rounds, there will be a face-to-face interview where an interviewer will assess your overall personality, domain knowledge, concepts, problem-solving techniques, your behaviour and conduct, etc. These are some of the common things evaluated during a Personal Interview round.
Talking about the placement cell, every college has one of those which attempts to bring companies on campus for the recruitment process. If your college has a placement cell then they will bring the companies to your campus and organize some placement camp before the start of the placement process so that students are apprised about the upcoming process. In case you face any kind of problem in your placement, then you can directly contact them and they will assist you. Placement cell will conduct some sessions and they will tell the students about their performances.

You can definitely appear for CUET to seek admission in a BBA programme as an Arts student. In fact, you can even get a direct admission into a BBA programme of many decent colleges and Universities without CUET.
If you are living in Delhi NCR or around Panipat, I highly recommend checking out the BB

Especially for their MBA programs, an XAT percentile of 60 might not be enough to get admission to the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun. XAT, CAT, and other entrance exam results are typically taken into account by UPES when admitting MBA candidates.
