JEE Advanced takes place every year. Although, only a few get into the top IITs and a dream career, getting the best life for the rest does not end here.
JEE Advanced witnessed over two lakh aspirants across the country appearing for the exam every year. This is just the beginning of everything. So, even if you have scored low in JEE Advanced there is no need to worry or let negative thoughts enter your brain.
Now, the first question that will come into your mind, after receiving your below-expectation score, is whether or not you should take a drop.
There are certain things one should take care of before opting for a drop. Drop year is a year of risk, pressure and dilemma. One should take a drop year only if:
Explore colleges based on JEE Advanced
- They can bear the additional expenses of a drop. Looking at it from a financial perspective is important.
- One is unable to do well in the exam due to boards or other exams.
- The rank earned by the student is not up to the expectations or it is only behind two or three marks to enter the cut-off.
One case is rare when someone has not studied for Advanced but is taking the drop. Well, there are cases happened with my friends where they have prepared from zero in one year and achieved under 1,000 rankings. But it depends on your own analysis and belief.
Looking at it from the different side, drop year can also push you one year behind. In my opinion, if you do not want to take a drop, there are still some good colleges one can get into with low scores. These include College of Engineering Pune, Manipal University, Lovely Professional University, Amity University, among others.
These are renowned colleges having their own entrances. Below is the list of all the colleges one can take through JEE Advanced:
- Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram)
- Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore
- Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology
- Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology
- Shiv Nadar University, Uttar Pradesh
- NorthCap University (NCU), Gurgaon
- Arni University, Himachal Pradesh
- Alliance College of Engineering and Design
Now, the question arises, whether one should wait for counseling sessions to opt for colleges. Well, according to me, once you get to know your ranking, you will easily find an approximation of which college you are getting. Hence, you can trust that and start going for other options. Once, the counseling session gets over, you will be forced to take a drop or compromise with your branch.
