The Union Public Service Commission is expected to release the UPSC interview call letters soon on its official website - upsc.gov.in. The Commission will soon release the UPSC interview schedule. The Commission will mention the roll number and names of the candidates to be interviewed on the prescribed date. The UPSC admit card is the official authority letter which authorises the candidate to appear in the IAS exam. The Union Public Service Commission has released the IAS admit card 2024 on its official website - upsc.gov.in. The Commission conducted the IAS main exam till September 29, 2024. The UPSC Civil Service (IAS) main exam was conducted as a conventional descriptive exam where the candidates are required to write essay-type answers. The Commission selected around 13 thousand candidates for the IAS main exam 2024. There are around 1,100 vacancies in the IAS exam 2024.

The candidates should note that the Commission also mentioned the number of photo identity cards in the UPSC IAS admit card and the same identity card was required at the examination centre. The Commission asked for the number of Photo Identity Cards in the UPSC IAS 2024 application. The candidates were required to carry the same identity card as the admit card to secure entry into the IAS examination centre. The candidates were suggested to download their UPSC admit card from the official link and check all the personal details mentioned on it. The Commission mentioned the UPSC exam centre in the IAS admit card only. There is no other way to know the UPSC exam centre

Q:   When does UPSC release the admit card?

A:
The UPSC releases the admit card of the exam three weeks before the date of exam. But after the COVID-19 pandemic, UPSC is working proactively and issuing the admit card well before the expected date. IAS 2023 exam will be conducted on May 28 and as per the official timeline, the UPSC is expected to release the UPSC IAS admit card 2023 soon. The candidates will be required to download their admit card from the official website or alternatively they can download the IAS admit card by following the steps given here.

The UPSC IAS admit card 2024 was released on June 7, 2024. The Commission conducted the IAS 2024 exam(Prelims) on June 16. Candidates downloaded their UPSC CSE (IAS) admit card by following the steps mentioned below:

Step 1: Visit the official website of UPSC (http://www.upsc.gov.in/).

Step 2: Click on the Admit Card link available on the Home page of the website.

Step 3: Read the instructions given on the page and click on the Yes button.

Step 4: Select any of the given two options – By Registration ID or By Roll Number.

Step 5: Enter registration ID and date of birth (if ‘By Registration ID’ is selected) or roll number and date of birth (if ‘By Roll Number’ is selected).

Step 6: Click on the Submit button.

The candidates should take the colour printout of the IAS admit card to present the clear picture of theirs. The candidates can take the black and white print out too but in case of blurry photograph, the candidates can suffer at the examination centre while comparing the face of the candidate with the scanned image shown in the admit card. The coloured printout will help the candidates to gain the entry at the examination centre easily.

How to Download UPSC IAS Admit Card without a Registration ID?

Candidates can follow the steps mentioned below to recover/ re-generate their registration ID:

Step 1: Visit the official website of UPSC (http://www.upsc.gov.in/).

Step 2: Click on the Admit Card link available on the Home page of the website.

Step 3: Read the instructions given on the page and click on the Yes button.

Step 4: Click on the link, "Forgot RID'

Step 5: Enter the following details:

  • Name
  • Father's name
  • Mother's name
  • Date of birth
  • Captcha code as shown on the screen

Step 6: Click on Submit.

On clicking the button, a registration ID will be re-generated.

Q:   Can I obtain a duplicate IAS admit card if I lose my original one?

A:
Yes, you can download the IAS admit card again from the official website. There is no restriction on downloading the IAS admit card from the official website. The candidates can do so any number of times till the IAS exam date. The candidates will be required to carry one photo identity proof with them to the examination centre. The type and number of such identity cards were asked in the IAS application form. The candidates are required to carry the same identity card as mentioned on their admit card.

In case, candidates were not able to download their UPSC IAS admit card, they should contact the commission immediately. The official website informs, “Information in this regard can also be obtained from the Facilitation Counter located in the commission’s office either in person or over phone Nos. 011-23381125/011- 23385271/ 011-23098543.”

Along with the UPSC CSE (IAS) admit card, the candidates required identity proof issued by government authorities. This Id proof is essential for appearing in the IAS exam. Following Id proofs can be shown in the IAS exam along with the admit card:

UPSC IAS Prelims exam day instructions

UPSC has released special instructions for the candidates to take precautions in times of the COVID-19 pandemic. The exam day instructions are given below.

General Instructions

  • One important change this year the IAS prelims admit card structure. This year the UPSC has printed the identity card number on the admit card itself and the candidates are required to carry the same Government identity card with them to the exam venue.
  • The candidates should reach the UPSC exam centres ten minutes before the commencement time of the IAS prelims exam. The candidates might be asked for frisking and it requires time.
  • All types of electronic or communication devices are prohibited at the exam venue. The candidates cannot carry the mobile device even in the switch-off mode. If the candidate is found with any such device, disciplinary action will be taken against him/her which could lead to a ban from future UPSC exams.
  • The candidates should mark their answers on the OMR sheet with a black ballpoint pen only. The answers marked by any other colour pen will not be evaluated.
  • If the candidate mark any specific mark on the roll number or the details given in the answer sheet
  • The candidates should note that any omission/ mistake/discrepancy in encoding/filling in details in the OMR answer sheet, especially with regard to Roll Number and Test Booklet Series Code, will render the answer sheet liable for rejection. Though, it can be changed at the exam venue itself if the invigilator permits to do so.

Q:   What if I lost my UPSC admit card?

A:
The candidates can download the IAS admit card in case they lost it. Even on the day of exam, the candidates can appear in the first paper and show their IAS admit card in the second shift. The candidates will be require to sign an undertaking that they will produce the IAS admit card in the second shift. The candidates can download their IAS admit card even if they forget their registration number. The UPSC admit card will be available till the exam day for downloading purpose. The candidates should take two copies of the UPSC admit card to produce another copy in such cases.

There is no official dress code for appearing in the IAS exam. The candidates should wear a decent and comfortable dress for the IAS exam. The candidates should note that the candidates can be frisked at the IAS examination centre in case of any doubt. There are instructions for the exam day but it does not mention much about the dress code. The candidates will not be allowed to carry any digital gadget into the examination hall. Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, headphones, and smart watches are banned at the examination centre.
