KSET Cut Off 2024 will be released by the Karnataka Exam Authority (KEA) shortly on the official website. The KSET 2024 Final Answer Key and Provisional Result was released on December 16, 2024. Candidates required application number and date of birth to check the KSET 2024 Provisional Result. The cut-off will be published subject-wise and category-wise. Q:   What is the scope after qualifying KSET exam?

A:

The KSET exam is taken for the candidates who are interested in PhD research and teaching as Assistant professor in colleges and univeristies of India. However, there are other career opportunities other than being Assisatnt Professor or a Research Scholar. The candidates who qualified for the KSET exam can apploy for the PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings) such as Indian Oil Corporlation limited (IOCL), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC), Oil and Natural Gas Corportaion (ONGC), etc. 

The candidates who do not want to join any PSU can take up other options like online tutor, open their own coaching centres, guest faculty, consultant, Lab Trainer, IP lead, Author, Editor, Transmission Executive, Program Executive, etc.

Q:   How many attempts are allowed in KSET exam?

A:

There is no limit to the number of attempts allowed for the KSET exam. As long as a candidate meets the eligibility criteria, they can appear for the exam in any number of attempts. The KSET exam is conducted twice a year, and candidates who are not able to qualify in one attempt can appear for the next cycle of the exam. However, it is important to note that candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria for each attempt and pay the application fee for each attempt separately. Also, candidates who have already qualified for the KSET exam are eligible to appear again for the same subject and category.

Q:   What is the criteria for qualifying KSET exam?

The criteria for qualifying the KSET exam are as follows: a) Minimum marks: Candidates need to secure the minimum qualifying marks in both paper 1 and paper 2 to qualify for the exam. General category candidates must score 40 per cent aggregate marks in both papers. OBC NCL, SC, ST, and PWD category candidates have to secure 35 per cent aggregate marks in both papers b) Top 6% of candidates: In addition to the above criteria, the top 6% of candidates who appear for both papers and score the minimum qualifying marks will be declared NET qualified for eligibility for Assistant Professor only. It is important to note that the KSET exam is conducted for two different purposes: to determine the eligibility of candidates for Assistant Professorship and PhD. T Candidates who qualify the KSET exam become eligible for Assistant Professorship in Karnataka universities and colleges.

The KSET (Karnataka State Eligibility Test) is a state-level exam conducted by the Karnataka Eam Authority. The exam is conducted once a year to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor. The exam is conducted in two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Here are the details of the KSET exam pattern: Paper 1:

a) Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes combining both papers)

b) Total marks: 100

c) Number of questions: 50

d) Type of questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

e) Marking scheme: Each question carries 2 marks.

There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. F) Syllabus: Teaching and research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness.

Paper 2:

a) Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes combining both papers)

b) Total marks: 200

c) Number of questions: 100

d) Type of questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

e) Marking scheme: Each question carries 2 marks. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

f) Syllabus: Based on the subject selected by the candidate. The KSET exam is conducted in online mode. The questions in both papers are in English and Hindi except for languages other than English and Hindi.

KSET Cutoff Determination Criteria 2024

The KSET cut off marks are determined on the basis of the below-mentioned criteria.

Stage 1: Aspirants need to obtain minimum marks in Paper 1 and Paper 2 together in aggregate as listed in the table below. Only those candidates will be included in the KSET merit list who meet the below-mentioned marks requirement.

Stage 2: KSET merit list will be prepared subject-wise as well as category-wise by using the aggregate marks, that is, the total marks of both KSET papers, as obtained by the candidates.

Stage 3: As per the directive of the UGC, only six per cent of the total appearing candidates are declared KSET qualified for Assistant Professor. Considering this and the Karnataka reservation policy, the subject-wise and category-wise distribution of qualifying slots will be computed using the formula mentioned below:

Yes, the Karnataka Exam Authority (KEA) releases the KSET cut off in PDF format which comprises subject and category-wise for the candidates who have taken the KSET exam. Q:   If I qualify for the KSET exam will I get the Assistant Professorship in the University or College?

A:

No, qualifying the KSET exam will not gaurantee the job for assistant professorship in college or university, it is only an eligibility exam. It means that candidates who will qualify for the exam are eligible to become an assistant professorship. To get job as assistant professorship they will need to apply for the vacancies released by the different universities. On the other hand, the qualified candidates who want to take jobs in the government universities have to appear in the exams conducted by the Karnataka state universities.

Q:   What is the salary of an Assistant Professor on a Contractual basis after qualifying KSET exam?

A:

The salary of Assistant professor in India ranges between 3.5 LPA to 6 LPA depending on Universities. If a candidate joins a private university as a fresher (no prior experience of teaching) then the average salary offered by the salary is INR 500-800 per class. The salary is increased as per the experience and position of the candidates.
