Shiksha covered the DUET 2020 exam on September 6 and analysed the exam paper along with asking candidates their view on the entrance exam amidst COVID-19.
The Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET) finally went underway and the first day of the entrance exam, i.e. September 6, 2020, was conducted successfully. The National Testing Agency (NTA) was conducting DUET on behalf of the Delhi University for the 2020-21 academic year. Shiksha covered the afternoon shift on September 6, which was conducted from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM for MA Political Science in Noida. Students had to report to the exam centre latest by 11:25 AM and the gates closed by 12:00 PM. Students had to strictly follow the rules and guidelines at the exam centre. The officials present ensured that there was social distancing and students were scanned before being provided entry.
Students had to maintain a distance of six feet from each other in order to maintain social distancing. Aspirants were scanned with thermos guns and were frisked through metal detectors without touching the body. Amidst the COVD-19 pandemic, students were scared and nervous about appearing for the exam, however, NTA ensured that all necessary safety measures were taken as the health of the students comes first. DUET was conducted in a total of 24 cities across India.

Shiksha asked students about their opinion on the entrance exam, how comfortable were they to appear for the entrance exam and how difficult or easy was the question paper according to them.
Nishant: Hello, my name Is Nishant and I reside in Noida. I am appearing for the DUET MA Political Science exam. I thought the paper was moderate, not too difficult or too easy. The questions were a bit twisted. It is a bit unsafe to appear for an entrance exam while the COVID-19 is going around. The officials followed strict social distancing which was comforting.
Abhinav: Hello, my name is Abhinav and I stay in Delhi. The paper was relatively easy to attempt. I studied all year for the exam and it feels great to get over with the entrance exam. It is scary to appear for the entrance exam while the pandemic is going on but the exam has to be conducted. The social distancing norms were followed and there were hand sanitizers all over which was great.
Bharat: Hello my name is Bharat and I am appearing for the MA Political Science exam. I felt the paper was moderate and I completed the paper on time. It is unsafe to appear for the entrance exam while the pandemic is going on but there was strict social distancing which was followed and hand sanitizers were at our disposals all around the centre. I felt secure to give the exam at the centre.
Karan: Hello my name is Karan and I am appearing for the MA Political Science exam. The paper was okay and I completed the paper on time. I’m glad the entrance exam is finally over as it has been delayed over the months and the anticipation of giving the exam just keeps making us anxious. Safety measures were taken and the officials did a good job in maintaining social distancing and providing us with masks and hand sanitizers at the centre.
DUET 2020 Exam Analysis
Due to the impact of the global pandemic known as COVID-19 (Coronavirus), many students feared for their safety, however, when it came to the entrance exam, students felt that the question paper was moderate. Some students found the question paper difficult, some students felt that they had no problem in completing the exam. Candidates felt there was no problem with the exam duration and most of the students completed the exam on time.
DUET 2020 during COVID-19
Many students voiced their opinion on social media, requesting the government to postpone the entrance exam as they felt it was not safe and secure to appear at exam centres where there will be more than 100 students. Also, many students stated that the exam centres allotted were out of their states and were not at all comfortable in appearing for the entrance exam. Students have faced a lot of problems in relation to the DUET exam centre and have also raised their concerns which are as follows.
DUET Exam Timings
Students were required to report to the exam centre one hour before the entrance exam was scheduled and were required to be present at the centre by 11:25 AM. Entry to the exam centre was being done until 12:00 PM. Candidates were required to show their DUET admit card and their government ID and provide the self-declaration form which they had to fill before entry. The gates closed at 12:00 PM and the entrance exam started at 12:30 PM.

DUET Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
The DUET 2020 exam was conducted in online mode i.e. Computer Based Test (CBT), the duration of the entrance exam was two hours and the exam format was in Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Students were provided with A4 sheets to do their rough work as well. The total number of questions asked was 100. For each correct answer, students will be awarded 4 marks. For each incorrect answer, -1 mark will be deducted. Here is the exam pattern and marking scheme for DUET 2020.

Unfortunately no. DUET is Delhi University Entrance Test and DU has discontinued the PG Diploma in Bioinformatics programme in 2023. Therefore, preparing for DUET to get admission to the PG Diploma in Bioinformatics programme will not be helpful.
