The University of Calicut decides the CUCAT syllabus. CUCAT is conducted for admissions in various programmes, both undergrad and postgrad, offered by the university. You can find the syllabus of CUCAT 2025 on this page. The CUCAT 2025 syllabus includes course-wise topics on which the test questions will be based. It must be noted that the majority of courses offered through CUCAT are at the postgraduate level. This means the CUCAT 2025 syllabus mostly consists of discipline-specific topics. For effective preparation, aspiring students must go through the CUCAT syllabus in its entirety. However, going through what they’ve studied during their undergrad programmes is also essential. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

Q:   What is the marking scheme for CUCAT?

A:

Based on past trend of this entrance examination, all questions hold 4 marks. However, there is also a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer. However, it must also be noted that descriptive questions (usually common for language courses, philosophy courses, etc.) may hold 5 or 10 marks depending on the length or word limit of the answer. Descriptive questions may be of the short essay type or they may require the examinees to comment on a prompt, situation, topic, etc.

But for most disciplines, students are given 2 hours. The questions on the test paper are MCQ type, however, students will also find descriptive questions in the language course papers. The number of questions may also vary from course to course. Each question carries 4 marks and one mark is deducted for each incorrect answer.
