AIBE 2019 exam analysis is now available, and candidates can go through the detailed analysis to understand the type of questions, major subjects, and expected cut off marks.
The Bar Council of India (BCI) released answer keys along with the question papers for All India Bar Examination (AIBE) 2019 on September 16, 2019. Candidates could raise objections on the answer key before 5 pm on September 26, 2019. Some candidates found errors in the answer key and, they are sending their doubts to BCI on objectionsaibe11@gmail.com. In the mail, candidates have to mention the wrong answer against question number as well as correct answer and documents in support of their claim. BCI will release clarification and a revised answer key after verifying all the questions and objections raised by candidates.
AIBE 2019 paper carried 100 questions from 19 subjects. The exam was a pen-paper mode test. Candidates had to attempt the entire question paper within three hours (20 minutes more for PWD candidates). Since this is an open book exam, the candidates had to attempt the paper using their study material.

- Bare Acts – Constitutional Law, IPR, International Law, Torts, Jurisprudence etc.

Type of questions asked in AIBE 2019:
As per the question paper analysis, the questions asked in the exam can be categorized as under:
- Direct case laws and landmark judgement questions – candidates had to recall the facts from the cases to attempt these questions.
- Books based questions – The candidates could find the answers directly in the books they carried like Bare Acts, Commentaries etc.
- Legal work related reasoning questions – Candidates had to apply their learning in the legal domain to attempt these questions.
AIBE 2019 Marking Scheme:
- For each correct response, candidates will be awarded one mark.
- There is no negative marking; therefore, even if candidates have marked the wrong option in the OMR sheet, their marks will not be affected.
AIBE Expected Cut off Marks
As per the qualifying marks criteria, candidates should obtain at least 40% marks to clear the bar examination. For candidates belonging to SC/ ST category, the qualifying marks have been relaxed to 35% out of total marks.
- However, the qualifying cut off marks can be reduced if the objections raised by candidates are approved by BCI.
- Previously, AIBE 13 had two wrong questions/ answers, therefore, BCI removed the questions and the cut off marks was reduced to 39 marks for general category candidates and 34 marks for SC/ ST category candidates out of total marks 98.
- Similarly, AIBE 12 had five wrong questions and as per the minimum marks criteria, the cut off marks for general category was 38 out of 95 marks. Moreover, for SC/ ST category, the cut off marks were 33 out of a total of 95 marks.
- Therefore, if this year more questions/ answers are reported as wrong in AIBE 2019 answer key then BCI will verify and reject those questions, hence, the cut off will fall.

To pass AIBE 19, a candidate must have at least 45% marks in case of being from the general or OBC category, and 40% in case of a candidate belonging to the SC/ST category. Considering you scored 43 marks, it seems that you failed to cross the pass mark.
