A:

Yes, it is necessary to carry a photo ID proof to the SLAT exam center along with the SLAT admit card. The photo ID proof is used to verify your identity and ensure that you are the person who is registered for the exam.

There are a few reasons why it is necessary to carry a photo ID proof to the SLAT exam center along with the SLAT admit card:

  • To verify your identity: The photo ID proof is used to verify that you are the person who is registered for the exam. This is important to prevent impersonation and ensure that the right person is taking the exam.
  • To maintain the integrity of the exam: The photo ID proof helps to maintain the integrity of the exam by ensuring that only registered candidates are allowed to take the exam. This helps to prevent cheating and other forms of malpractice.

Q:   Which documents do I need to carry to the exam centre along with my SLAT admit card?

A:
Candidates need to carry a valid photo ID proof to the exam centre along with a coloured printout of their SLAT admit card. This photo ID proof can be an Aadhaar Card, voter ID, PAN Card, driving licence, or passport. The reason for which the exam supervising authority asks candidates to carry their photo ID proof is that they want to ensure their identity. Aadhaar Card and Voter ID are the best photo ID proofs that can help Indian citizens verify their identity. Thus, it is advised to all SLAT exam takers that they must carry one of the two photo ID proofs to the SLAT exam centre. The photo ID proof should be original because photocopies or printouts of ID proofs are not accepted by the exam authority. The ID proof will only be used to recognise the candidates. Q:   Can I crack SLAT if I prepare for CLAT?

A:

Yes, you can crack SLAT if you prepare for CLAT. The CLAT and SLAT exams have a similar syllabus, with both exams testing candidates on their reading comprehension, legal reasoning, logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, and general knowledge and current affairs skills.

However, there are some minor differences between the two exams. For example, the SLAT has a lower number of questions on quantitative aptitude than the CLAT. Additionally, the SLAT has a less challenging legal reasoning section than the CLAT.

If you are preparing for CLAT, you should be well-prepared for the SLAT. However, you should also be aware of the minor differences between the two exams and adjust your preparation accordingly. For example, you may want to spend less time preparing for quantitative aptitude and more time preparing for legal reasoning.

Here are some tips for cracking SLAT if you are preparing for CLAT:

  • Focus on understanding the key concepts in legal reasoning and logical reasoning.
  • Practice a variety of questions from both sections, including case studies, analytical reasoning questions, principle-fact based questions, syllogisms, critical reasoning questions, and logical puzzles.
  • Make sure that you are comfortable with the basic mathematical concepts tested in the quantitative aptitude section.
  • Stay updated on current events and important facts for the general knowledge and current affairs section.
  • Take mock tests and solve previous year question papers to get familiar with the exam format and identify your areas of weakness.

Q:   How difficult is the SLAT test?

A:
The difficulty level of the SLAT test ranges from easy to moderate, according to an analysis of the question papers from the previous year. About 60 questions total, each worth one mark. 2. Static GK: Questions on static general knowledge may include topics such as geography, history, famous landmarks, books and authors, important dates, and other factual information.

SLAT Selection Process 2025

To get admission to a BA LLB (Hons), BBA LLB (Hons), BA LLB, or BBA LLB course through SLAT, candidates will have to follow the steps mentioned below:

  • Appear in SLAT

  • Appear in the SLAT Personal Interview or SLAT PI.

SLAT 2025 Selection Process in Detail

SLAT

To get admission to one of the 5-year LLB courses offered by a Symbiosis Law School, you first need to take the Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT). There are no minimum qualifying marks for SLAT. But candidates need to make their place on the SLAT merit list for admission.

The SLAT merit list is prepared based on marks obtained by candidates. Considering their marks, ranks are allotted to them. These ranks are arranged in an ascending order (from highest rank to lowest rank) to create SLAT merit lists.

SLAT PI

SLAT PI is somewhat similar to a "Statement of Purpose" (SOP). But candidates are required to answer questions in this round verbally. SLAT PI can be conducted online or offline. The mode of this interview round depends on the notification provided by the Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) authority.

Q:   What is the process of selecting the SLAT test city for the allotment of the exam centre?

A:

There are more than 75 cities where the SLAT exam is conducted. These 75 cities, spread across India, consist of metropolitan cities, capital cities, Tier-2 cities, and Tier-3 cities. The candidate can select up to three cities for the allotment of test centres. The process of test city selection is part of the SLAT application process. In the SLAT application form, there is a field in which candidates have to select the cities. They need to select the city of preference in an order of 1 to 3. The examination authorities will try to allot the test centre to the city of first preference. Thus, candidates must fill out all three cities carefully. They must choose their home city or city of current residence as their first preference. The test city option can only be changed during the form correction window. After that, the request for a change of city will not be accepted by the exam authorities.

Q:   What are my career opportunities if I attend a reputed law college after passing the SLAT exam?

A:

Candidates who clear the SLAT exam need to note that passing this exam is not a guarantee of a successful career in law, even if you attend a highly reputed law college. They must work hard to develop the real-life skills that are required to succeed as lawyers during their years of education at a law college. They need to learn all the law-related lessons taught to them at the college and implement them practically by participating in moot court activities and internships to gain the legal knowledge applicable to real life scenarios. Moreover, the career opportunities in law also depend on the law in which you specialise. The job opportunities in the field of law will be related to your specialisation in law.

Candidates who qualify in the SLAT written entrance exam then need to appear for the Personal Interaction and Writing Ability Test (WAT) admission round. This is the last and final step of the admission process for Symbiosis Law School. PI-WAT round is conducted at individual SLS campuses. The final merit list contains the names of shortlisted candidates for admission in law programmes offered at SLS.

SLAT 2025 final merit list is prepared based on the following weightages:

Components of merit list Weightage
Entrance Test score (Scaled down to 50 marks) 50 marks
PI scores 30 marks
WAT scores 20 marks
Total 100 marks

Q:   What is a good score for SLAT?

A:
A good score for SLAT results depends on the cut-off of the Symbiosis Law School in which you want to enrol. For example, if a candidate scores a 91.5 percentile in the SLAT exam in a particular year and he or she wants to get admission to SLS Pune, which accepts candidates with a minimum percentile of 75, a 91.5 percentile is definitely a good score for admission to SLS Pune. Thus, to ensure whether percentile scores obtained by candidates in the SLAT exam are good or not, they need to check the cut-off score of the SLS (SLS Pune, SLS Nagpur, SLS Noida, and SLS Hyderabad) in which they want to apply for a 5-year LL.B. Course.
