Master of Fashion Technology also known as MFTech is a professional postgraduate course that candidates can pursue after completion of their graduation. The candidates who have completed B.F.Tech programme, Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) or Bachelor in Technology (B.Tech) are eligible to apply for MFTech course. M.F.Tech is considered to be a more technical degree than an M.Des programme.MFTech Course is available in Regualr mode only.

The MFTech course, which can be completed in a duration of two years, is intended for people who wish to pursue further education and training in the fashion and textile industries. In order to prepare students for their careers in the increasingly technology-driven fashion sector, MFTech programme often integrates elements of fashion design, technology, and management. MFTech course is popularly offered by various National Institute of Fashion Technology Colleges located across Indian cities. MFTech programmes can be completed at a fees ranging from INR 3 lakh to INR 8 lakh. After completing the MFTech course, graduates can work at various job profiles that include Production Controllers, Supply Chain Managers, Fashion Designer, Fashion Marketer, Quality Controller, and so on. Q. How to get admission to NIFT?

A. Candidates seeking admission to the M.F.Tech course have to appear in the NIFT entrance exam which is conducted by the National Institute of Fashion Technology. In addition to the M.F.Tech programme, NIFT scores can also be used for admission to the B.DesM.DesB.F.Tech, and M.F.M courses offered by the institute in various locations across      India.

The NIFT entrance exam for M.F.Tech comprises two stages:

  • Stage 1 - The candidate appears in the General Aptitude Test (GAT); It is a written test.
  • Stage 2 - The admission committee will conduct a Personal Interview and Group Discussion round for shortlisted candidates.

The final merit list for the M.F.Tech programme will be prepared by giving 70% weightage to the GAT written test and 30% weightage to the GD/PI.
