The CAT 2019 was conducted today successfully across India with lakhs of students appearing in two different slot. According to the experts and students, this year, the surprise element of the exam was exceptionally tough and taxing Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC) section.

CAT 2019 Analysis: Highlights
- The VARC section of slot 1 was toughest among all the three sections
- Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR) section looked easy but it was not
- Quantitative Aptitude (QA) section was the easiest of all

Section-wise CAT 2019 Analysis
Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension:
- VARC section was significantly tougher, that would have impact on DILR, and Quant to as students would have gotten tired
- It was tough on all matrix. The passages were tough and questions were tricky
- This time even the language of a couple of passages were tough
- There were many critical reasoning questions. Some of the questions had choices, which were so intricate that one could guess only on the second read
- There were lot of double negative elements, lot of weakening and strengthening elements that confused the student
- VARC score are going to be on the downside. A good attempt 60 is likely to fetch 99 percentile
Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning:
- Although there was no surprise element in DILR, the questions were not as easy as they looked
- There were three sets, which were doable; three-five were a climb, five to six was a gigantic climb.
- There were at least two data-sets in which numbers were not given, thus the students had to stare at the number to determine the actual number was by guessing the length of the bar or which part of the bar is shaded.
- However, there were some questions, which did not require the candidates to get the right number
Quantitative Aptitude

- The quant section was easy as compared to last year but not as easy as in 2017.
- There was no surprise element as the questions were on the expected lines.
- There were 23 non-MCQs and 11 MCQs from Time, Work and Distance, P&L, Ratios, Equations, AMA & SI-CI, Geometry, Mensuration, Numbers, Algebra, Trigonometry and Permutations & Combinations.
- Thirty right attempts should fetch a good percentile.
