All about MAT 2023

Management Aptitude Test or MAT is a national level MBA entrance exam for admission to over 800 B-schools across India. MAT exam is conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA) four times in a year – February, May, September and December. MAT is the only MBA entrance exam in India that offers the option to appear in Paper Based Test (PBT), Computer Based Test (CBT) and Internet Based Test (IBT) modes. The MAT question paper contains 200 MCQs from five subjects - Language Comprehension, Data Analysis & Sufficiency and Mathematical Skills, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Indian & Global Environment. Eligibility criteria for MAT exam is graduation.

Q:   What is MAT application process?

A:
MAT application process is online. Candidates are required to fill the application form by registering at the AIMA MAT website. The application process of MAT CBT, PBT and IBT is the same and candidates can fill the form for more than one exam mode. Candidates can take the MAT exam as Internet Based Test (IBT) or Double Internet Based Test (IBT) or Paper Based Test (PBT) or Computer Based Test (CBT) or Paper Based Test and Internet Based Test (PBT plus IBT) or Computer Based Test and Internet Based Test (CBT plus IBT) or Paper Based Test and Computer Based Test (PBT plus CBT). Given below is the process to fill the MAT registration and application form: 1. Open official website of AIMA MAT 2. Enter Name, Phone Number, Email ID, Date of Birth and set a password 3. Click on submit 4. An OTP will be sent in the registered mobile number 5. Verify phone number using the OTP 6. New login will be sent in your email 7. Select exam mode, exam date and other details 8. Upload your passport size photo and signature 9. Select 5 MBA institutes of your preference 10. Pay the fee via debit/credit card or net banking 11. In the next page add personal details, academic details, address, etc. 12. Fill the remaining fields and the click on the declaration check box 13. Submit the form to complete the process.

Q:   What is MAT application fee?

A:

The fee payment to appear for the MAT exam is mandatory. The AIMA charges every candidates examination fee at the time of form filling. While filling the MAT application form the fee payment is to be done for acceptance of the candidature. The MAT application fees have been increased and the revised fees are as follows: Paper-Based Test (PBT): INR 2,100 Computer-Based Test (CBT): INR 2,100 Internet-Based Test (IBT): 2,100 Both PBT and CBT: INR 3,300 Candidates are required to pay the fee in online mode I. e. through debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI. Candidates must note that the MAT application form will not be submitted until the fee payment is done. Key points to keep in mind while filling the MAT application form is that the fee is non-refundable and there is no provision of form corrections. So, in case a candidate has made a mistake in the form, they will have to register again and fill a new form by paying the fee again. To take a re-test also, candidates have to fill a fresh MAT application form and pay the fee again.

Q:   Can I purchase MAT application form offline?

A:
Since MAT is an MBA entrance exam, all of the registration process is online. From candidate registration to payment of fees, every activity is to be done online at the AIMA MAT website. There is no provision of offline form filling. The candidates can fill the form on the AIMA-MAT website by creating an account on the official website by furnishing basics information such as name, date of birth, email ID and mobile phone number. The application process of all MAT exam modes is common. MAT registration is a one-time process but MAT application form is to be filled for each exam session separately. For taking the MAT test again, candidates can simply log in to their dashboard and fill the application form for any upcoming session of their choice. Candidates will also have to pay the fee for each session.

  • The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognised university.
  • Final year graduation students are also eligible to apply.

MAT Application Process 2023

MAT application forms are available on the official website of AIMA-MAT exam website. Candidates can fill up the forms to appear in the exam by registering on the official website. Check the MAT application process below:

  • Log on to AIMA MAT website: www.bit.ly/MAT_2023
  • Enter name, date of birth, email, mobile number and password
  • Select state/UT, city, test option and a password
  • Click on 'register'
  • An OTP will be sent on the registered mobile number
  • Verify phone number using the OTP and login to complete the MAT registration
  • Make payment of MAT application fee
  • Select exam mode and two test cities
  • Enter academic and personal details
  • Upload photo and signature in prescribed format
  • Select five institutes you wish AIMA to send your MAT score to for admission
  • Download the copy of duly filled application form after submission

MAT Registrations: Documents Required

The candidates will need the following documents to fill the MAT application form:

  • Image of scanned photograph in jpg/jpeg format. File size should not be less than 40 KB
  • Image of scanned signature in jpg/jpeg format. File size should not be less than 10 KB

Q:   Is MAT 2024 registration open for admission to MBA courses at GIBS Business School?

A:

MAT 2024 registration for August is over. The next phase of exams will be held in December 2024. The schedule of of MAT 2024 registration for December phase has started at the AIMA, official website. Candidates who plan to appear for the MAT exam this year can apply for any phase of the as per their preparation and convenience. The MAT PBT, CBT and IBT form submission deadline of each session is different. Each MAT session will also be held on a different date. The MAT application fee is same for all exam modes and all exam phases. For each session candidates have to pay INR 2,100 as application fee. Candidates can appear for more than one session, however they will have to pay the fee per session.

Q:   How many MAT participating colleges can a test taker select in the MAT application form?

A:
Candidates can select up to five participating colleges in MAT application form where they want to take admission for pursing an MBA or a PGDM course. AIMA will send their MAT scorecards to these colleges directly for preparing admission shortlist and sending Personal Interview invite to aspirants. In case a candidate wishes to apply for other colleges, then they will have to fill the admission application form for those colleges individually by visiting their respective websites. Before selecting the five colleges, candidates must check the eligibility criteria (academic requirements like minimum score in graduation), MAT cut off and selection process. This is important because if a candidate does not meet the eligibility criteria or the MAT cut off, they will not be invited by those colleges for admission even if they had selected in the MAT application form.

Q:   What are the documents required for MAT application process?

A:
MAT application process includes uploading of certain documents in the form portal. Candidates need some other documents to fill the MAT application form. While photo, signature and Certificate are to be uploaded with the application form, other documents are needed to fill valid information in form. 1. Recent passport size photo (colour with white background) 2. Scanned signature on a white paper 3. Scanned copy of photo ID card such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, Voter ID card, Passport 4. Class 10 marksheet 5. Class 12 marksheet 6. Graduation marksheet 7. PG degree marksheet (if applicable) 8. Bank details for fee payment Candidates who belong to Reserved category are required to upload caste Certificate and candidates who belong to PwD category have to upload a Certificate for the same. PwD candidates also need to upload scribe Certificate to avail the facility on the exam day. The dimensions of the passport size photograph must not less than 50 KB and not less than 100 KB) and digital signature (not less than 10 KB and not more than 25 KB).. .

Q:   Are MAT registrations 2023 open for Lloyd Business School?

A:

Yes, MAT registration are open now, and last is 29 August 2023 Lloyd Business school accepted MAT entrance exam for it's admission. So firstly you have to clear MAT entrance test. MAT (management aptitude test) is accepted by many business school for MBA and PGDM courses. Lloyd Business school also accept CAT, XAT and GMAT. Govt.of India approved MAT as the national test. Not only Lloyd Business school accepted MAT score but Universities like Sri Balaji University, Pune, BIMTECH PGDM-, VIT business school, jaipuri instution of management and Benguluru school of management.

Q:   How to select MAT test cities in the application form?

A:
AIMA MAT provides two options as test city. Candidates have to select any two cities from the list mentioned in the online application form for test centre allotment. The MAT test cities are different for PBT and CBT, thus candidates must make sure they choose the mode of exam which will be conducted in their cities of preference. Candidates opting for MAT IBT exam do not have to select any test city as it is a remote proctored test and can be taken from any location. The option to select test city to MAT CBT and PBT candidates is given in the application form. Candidates have to fill their options in the form where the field appears. 1. Register for MAT session at AIMA MAT website 2. Login with the application number shared by AIMA and password 3. Fill the relevant fields in the first page of the application form 4. Select the exam mode from the drop down 5. Select any two cities from the drop down on the relevant page 6. Make fee payment and fill the rest of MAT application form 7. Click on submit to confirm exam registration.

Language Comprehension: This section of MAT syllabus has 40 questions from Verb, Noun, Pronoun, Adjective, Adverb, Antonyms & Synonyms, One Word Substitution, Idioms/Phrases, Vocabulary, Fill in the blanks, Sentence Correction, Para Jumble and Reading Comprehension.

Intelligence & Critical Reasoning: This section carries 40 questions from Analytical and Logical Reasoning topics such as Family Tree, Course of Action, Arrangement, Pie Chart, Calendars, Statement Conclusions, Strong Arguments and Weak Arguments, Puzzles, Series, Blood Relations, Coding & Decoding, Visual Reasoning, Syllogisms and Graphs.

Data Analysis & Data Sufficiency: This section has 40 questions divided into two parts – Data Analysis and Data Sufficiency. The questions as asked from Line Graph, Bar Graph, Caselet, Pie Chart, Data Comparison, Quantitative Comparison and Data Sufficiency.

Mathematical Skills: The Mathematical Skills is the Quantitative Aptitude section of MAT. This section has 40 questions from various topics of Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Mensuration and Modern Maths.

Indian & Global Environment: The Indian & Global Environment or GK section of MAT exam has 40 questions from Current Affairs and static GK. This section is to be attempted at the end as its score is not taken into consideration for calculation of MAT percentile.

A: MAT exam dates are announced phase wise. The MAT February 2023 phase exam dates were announced on December 27 and May phase exam dates were announced on March 19, 2023. The MAT September phase exam dates were announced on July 10, 2023 and the December phase exam were announced on October 13, 2023 The registration process MAT December 2023 has started and candidates can apply for CBT, PBT and IBT.

Q: How many attempts are allowed in MAT exam in an academic year?

A: MAT exam is conducted multiple times in a year, so candidates can take as many attempts as they want. However, they have to register for every MAT attempt separately. The score of latest attempt is taken into consideration.

Q: What are the MAT application dates for December 2023 exams?

A: The MAT 2023 application process for December phase will go on from October 13 to Decembe 14, 2023. Candidates can apply for MAT exam by filling an application form after registering on the AIMA website before the deadline. The deadline of form submission of IBT, CBT and PBT are different. Q: What is the syllabus of MAT exam?

A: MAT syllabus includes all important topics from these subjects - Language Comprehension, Data Analysis & Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills (Quantitative Aptitude), Intelligence and Critical Reasoning and Indian & Global Environment (GK). Candidates must prepare all the topics form the first four subjects. The scores of Indian & Global Environment section are not considered for MAT percentile calculation thus, one can skip it if, they don't have enough time to prepare.

Q: Is it mandatory to have minimum of 50 per cent marks in graduation for MAT?

A: No, candidates having passing marks in graduation are eligible to apply for MAT. However, many MBA colleges accepting MAT score accept students only with a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate in MAT. So, the candidates must ensure they check the eligibility criteria of MBA college as well while applying for MAT.

Q: In how many MBA colleges can I apply through MAT 2023 score?

A: Over 800 B-schools across India accept MAT exam score, so candidates can apply to 800 MBA colleges. However, in the MAT application form, candidates can select up to five MBA colleges only. If they wish to apply in more colleges, they will have to fill the application forms of those colleges individually.

Q: What is the MAT application fees?

A: The application fee of MAT exam is INR 2,100 for all the three modes - CBT, PBT and IBT. If a candidate chooses to appear for MAT in two modes, they are supposed to pay INR 3,300 as fees. The fee payment is to be done in online mode via debit/credit card, net banking or UPI wallets.

Q: What is the difference between CBT, PBT and IBT exams of MAT?

A: CBT stands for Computer Based Test, which means the student has to take the test on a computer system at an exam centre. PBT stands for Paper Based Test, which means the student has to fill the OMR answer sheet with a blue/black ball point pen at an exam centre. IBT stands for Internet Based Test, which means the student has to take the test on a computer system at home.

Q: Is MAT exam easier than CAT, XAT and IIFT?

A: Yes, MAT exam is comparatively easier than CAT, XAT and IIFT. The MAT question paper is usually of moderate difficulty level and easy to answer. The score of Indian & Global Environment section is not used to calculate MAT percentile thus it easier to get good percentile in MAT.

Q: If I fail to appear for one MAT exam, can I appear for it on the next date?

A: Yes, if a candidate fails to appear for a MAT session, they can appear for the next test, if they have registered for the next exam too. If not, then they can apply for the next session and appear for it. For example, if you have applied for a CBT but could not appear for it, then you can apply for IBT in the same phase as registration deadline of every session is different. 

Q: For how long is MAT score valid for MBA admission?

A: MAT score is valid for MBA admission for a year. For example, your MAT 2023 exam score will be valid for admission to 2023-24 academic year. If you wish to drop a year, then you will have to take the MAT exam again in next academic year.
