IBSAT Syllabus 2024: Check Section Wise Latest Syllabus Here!

Candidates who wish to pursue MBA/ PGPM programme from ICFAI Business School (IBS) need to appear for IBSAT exam. This is held in computer-based mode. IBSAT comprises Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) that are distributed among 4 sections Verbal Ability. Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Aptitude, Data Sufficiency and Data Interpretation. The total number of questions asked in the exam is 140. Exam is of 120 minutes without negative marking. Find below the section-wise syllabus: 

1. Verbal Ability: The questions are based on sentence correction, fill in the blanks, synonyms, antonyms, grammar, idioms etc. The No. of questions asked in Verbal Ability section is 50.

2. Reading Comprehension: The candidates are required to read the passages and answer the questions based on these passages. No. of question asked is 25.

3. Quantitative Aptitude: Question are from numerical ability and problem-solving skills of the candidates. The questions are based on topics like algebra, LCM, HCF, mensuration, ratio & proportion, geometry, time & speed, statistics, probability, simple & compound interest, permutations & combinations etc.

4. Data Sufficiency & Data Interpretation: The questions are based on pie charts, tables, bar/ line graphs etc. These questions must be answered on the basis of quick calculations. 

IBSAT syllabus is closely similar to CAT syllabus with no negative marking. Candidates preparing for CAT will be able to prepare for IBSAT easily. The IBSAT syllabus is divided into four sections viz., Verbal Ability, Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Aptitude, Data Adequacy and Data Interpretation also, CAT syllabus includes the similar sections. 

IBSAT is a national level exam conducted by ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (deemed to be University) for admission to MBA/ PGPM courses. IBSAT 2024 registration will commence in first week of July 2024 and candidates will be able to register themselves on the official website at general.ibsindia.org. IBSAT scores are accepted by nine ICFAI Business Schools (IBS), namely IBS Hyderabad, IBS Mumbai, IBS Bengaluru, IBS Pune, IBS Gurgaon, IBS Kolkata, IBS Ahmedabad, IBS Jaipur, and IBS Dehradun. For IBSAT Data Adequacy and Data Interpretation section, it is crucial to have a strong understanding of data interpretation, analysis, and problem-solving. Here are some important topics to prepare from:

• Data Interpretation: Tables, charts, graphs (bar graphs, line graphs, pie charts), and Venn diagrams.
• Data Sufficiency: This tests your ability to determine whether the given data is sufficient to answer a particular question.
• Data Analysis: Topics such as averages, percentages, ratios, and comparisons. Practice solving questions that require calculations, comparisons, and logical reasoning based on the given data.
• Logical Reasoning: It may include topics like seating arrangements, blood relations, coding-decoding, series completion, and analytical puzzles.
• Caselets: You need to read and understand the caselet and extract relevant information, and solve the questions based on the given data.
  

The Quantitative Ability section of IBSAT covers various mathematical problems and concepts like solving skills. Here are some important topics you should focus on while preparing for IBSAT Quantitative Ability section:

• Arithmetic: Percentages, Ratios and Proportions, Profit and Loss, Time and Work, Time, Speed and Distance, Averages, Simple and Compound Interest.
• Algebra: Equations, Inequalities, Functions, Quadratic Equations, Progressions.
• Geometry: Basic Geometry, Mensuration, Coordinate Geometry.
• Number System: Number properties, Divisibility, HCF and LCM, Factors and Multiples.
• Data Interpretation: Tables, Bar Graphs, Line Graphs, Pie Charts, Data Sufficiency.
• Probability and Statistics: Basic Probability, Permutations and Combinations, Averages, Measures of Dispersion.

You must practice a variety of questions from the topics mentioned above to develop your problem-solving abilities and improve your speed. Additionally, referring to previous years' question papers and mock tests can provide valuable insights to IBSAT exam pattern.

The IBSAT Verbal Ability section assesses your English language skills which includes reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and verbal reasoning. Here are some VA important topics you should focus on for preparation:

• Reading Comprehension: Practice reading passages and improve comprehension skills. Understand the main idea, identify supporting details, and draw inferences from the text.
  
• Vocabulary: Enhance vocabulary by learning new words, their meanings, and usage. 
  
• Grammar: This includes parts of speech, tenses, subject-verb agreement, sentence structure, and punctuation. Pay attention to common error types such as verb forms, pronoun usage, and modifiers.
• Sentence Correction: Practice identifying and correcting grammatical errors in sentences. This may include errors in subject-verb agreement, parallelism, modifiers, and pronoun usage.
• Para jumbles
• Critical Reasoning: Develop your ability to analyse arguments, evaluate evidence, identify assumptions, and draw logical conclusions.
• Idioms and Phrases: Familiarise yourself with common idioms, phrases, and expressions used in the English language.
