NEET SS 2024 exam will be conducted on Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30, 2025, in two slots each day, in exam centres across India. The NEET SS 2024 application process began on February 4, 2025, 3 PM onwards. The last date of application is February 24, 2025, 11.55 PM. NBEMS announced the NEET SS 2024 exam dates for events such as application, admit card and result on February 4, 2025, in the form of the NEET SS 2024 notification and information bulletin, ahead of the commencement of the application process.

The NEET SS 2024 application form editing process will be conducted from February 27 to March 3, 2025, and the final edit window will be open from March 11 to March 13, 2025. The NEET SS admit card 2024 will be released on March 25, 2025. The result will be declared by April 30, 2025.

The NEET SS 2024 exam dates were announced by NBEMS on September 13, 2024.  The NEET SS 2024 exam will be conducted in a computer-based mode in two days and two slots. The apex court had directed the National Medical Commission (NMC) to schedule the NEET SS 2024 exam so that postgraduate medical students completing their course in January 2025 do not suffer. 

NEET SS is the postgraduate super speciality medical entrance exam conducted in a computer-based mode for 2.5 hours of 150 minutes. There are 13 groups or super speciality subjects that are tested and candidates will have to choose their question paper groups during the application process. The papers are scheduled so there will not be a clash of exam dates or slots. Even though NEET SS is conducted in September every year, last year it was postponed due to the G20 Summit hosted by India. 

NBEMS had earlier announced a change in the NEET SS exam pattern from this year onwards. The exam will have time-bound sections. A detailed explanation of the pattern or structure of NEET SS will be provided once the information bulletin is released.  As per the latest notification published on natboard.edu.in, two topics in the test will have separate question papers. The authority has notified that the DM/DrNB Critical Care Medicine and Medical Oncology programmes will have separate question papers. Detailed information will be provided in the NEET SS 2024 information bulletin.

Q:   When will NEET SS 2024 application form release?

The NEET SS 2024 application form has released by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) on February 4, 2025, 3 PM onwards. Q:   What is the total duration of the NEET SS exam?

A: 

The total duration of the NEET SS exam is 150 minutes or 2.5 hours. There is no sectional time limit. Hence, candidates have to manage the time accrodingly to attempt as many number of questions as possible within this duration. There are 150 questions in total. Hence, to attempt all the questions, test-takers will get one minute per question. Along with maintaining to speed to complete the NEET SS exam, candidates must also maintain accuracy to avoid losing marks since there is a negative marking scheme.

What is NEET SS 2024?

NEET SS or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Super Speciality Courses) is conducted by the National Board of Education for admission to various DM/ MCh and DNB courses. It is a qualifying-cum-ranking examination for admission to medical super speciality courses. According to the Indian Medical Council Act, 2016, no other entrance test is valid for admission to these courses. NEET SS is conducted annually in computer-based mode for a duration of two days and two slots.

Q:   How many slots are there in the NEET SS exam?

A: 

The NEET SS exam is conducted for a window of two days, with two slots in each day. Hence, the total number of slots in which NEET SS exam is conducted is four. Each of the slots conduct different exam groups. The duration of the exam is 2.5 hours or 150 minutes. The table below brings the slot-wise timings of the NEET SS exam.

Q:   What is the total number of questions in NEET SS?

A: 

 According to the latest exam pattern of NEET SS, there are 150 multiple-choice questions, from broad speciality and super speciality course. The question paper was of 400 marks.  The question paper will consist of questions from the General/Basic component of the primary feeder broad specialty subject and from all sub-specialty/systems/component of that primary feeder broad specialty subject. All the 150 questions would be from the Curriculum of the Post Graduate Exit level of the primary feeder broad specialty subject. Candidates will get two-and-a-half hours to attempt the questions.

NEET SS 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has prescribed the eligibility criteria for NEET SS. Candidates who wish to apply for the entrance test are advised to go through the NEET SS eligibility criteria before filling the application.

  • Candidate must possess a postgraduate degree (MD/MS/DNB/ Equivalent) from a recognised institution
  • Candidates who will complete their postgraduate degree on or before April 30, 2025, will be eligible for NEET SS 2024
  • He/she must be registered with the Medical Council of India or State Medical Council

NEET SS 2024 For Foreign Nationals

Foreign nationals who wish to pursue a super speciality course from India need to appear for the NEET SS 2024 examination and clear it. Such candidates do not need to be registered with the MCI/ SMC, provided he/ she is duly registered with the appropriate authority in his/ her own country.

On securing a seat through NEET SS, the MCI may grant temporary registration to these candidates for the duration of the postdoctoral course. This registration will be temporary and will be limited to the medical college/ institution to which he/she is admitted. 

The authorities have further notified that the prior eligibility criteria for admission to DM/MCh/DrNB courses shall be as per the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023. NBE has stated, "Foreign Nationals including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders can appear in NEET-SS 2024 without registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC). The NMC may, on payment of the prescribed fee for registration, grant temporary registration for the duration of the Post Doctoral course limited to the medical college/institution to which he/she is admitted for the time being exclusively for pursuing postdoctoral studies."

There is no specific quota or preference for candidates who have worked in a government hospital after completing their Masters in General Surgery in Andhra Pradesh (Andhra Pradesh) in NEET SS. However, candidates who have completed their Masters in General Surgery may have an advantage in the exam as they would have already completed some of the coursework and gained practical experience in the field.

NEET SS 2024 Application Form Process

The application process for NEET SS 2024 started with the release of the application form on February 4, 2025. Candidates have to register first by providing basic details such as name, date of birth, Email, and mobile number to generate login credentials. Registration is mandatory to fill and submit the NEET SS application form. Candidates must note that NBE only accepts online application forms for the NEET SS exam. Offline and any other modes of applications are not accepted for the exam. To complete the application process for NEET SS 2024, candidates will have to pay a non-refundable fee of INR 3,500, in online mode, through credit card, debit card, or internet banking. Incidentally, the application fee has been reduced from last year, which was INR 4,250. Once the application process is complete, applicants must save and print the NEET SS 2024 application confirmation. Only those candidates who will complete the NEET SS application process will be eligible for the NEET SS 2024 admit card. After the completion of the application process, NBE will provide correction facilities twice wherein applicants can edit or make corrections in the information entered and files uploaded.

Candidates who complete the application process within the given deadline specified by NBE will be issued the NEET SS admit card on March 25, 2025, four days before the exam. The NEET SS 2024 admit card will be uploaded online and candidates will have to log in to the accounts created during the registration process to download it. The admit card contains personal details and crucial information such as exam date, timing, name of the centre and its address, and guidelines. Candidates will be able to download the admit card for NEET SS 2024 till the last date of the exam. The NEET SS admit card 2024 will act as the hall ticket to the exam centre, without which candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam hall. Candidates must preserve the NEET SS admit card 2024 till the counselling or the admission process, as it is an important document which is verified during the counselling process.

NBE will release the NEET SS 2024 exam pattern along with the information brochure. Candidates can find all the details regarding the pattern in the information brochure. NEET SS 2024 exam, a group-based exam will be held in a computer-based mode. The exam will be conducted in the morning and evening shifts. NEET SS question paper comprises 150 questions and the time duration is 2.5 hours. 

NEET SS exam paper comprises questions from the general/basic components of the primary feeder broad speciality subject and from all sub-speciality/systems/components of that primary feeder broad speciality subjects.

NBEMS has announced the introduction of time-bound sections for NEET SS. Explaining this, NBEMS stated, "Candidates will be restricted from proceeding to the next section until they complete the allotted time for the previous section. Additionally, candidates will not be allowed to review the questions or modify their responses for a section after the completion of its allotted time. The questions for the next section will start automatically after the completion of the allotted time for the previous section."

NEET SS 2024 result will be announced by April 30, 2025, within a month of the conduct of the exam. The result for NEET SS 2024 will be released in merit list format in PDF documents for 13 broad specialities on the official website of NBE. NEET SS 2024 result will comprise the candidate's roll number and the maximum marks scored by him/her. Candidates will have to visit the official website of NBE to check the result. These results will be handed over to the MCC, DGHS and MoHFW, the bodies responsible for NEET SS counselling. 

NEET SS Cutoff

NEET SS 2024 cutoff will be announced along with the NEET SS result 2024. To get an overview, it is important to know last year's cutoff details.

NEET SS 2023 cutoff was released along with the result for each group. As per the information bulletin, the qualifying NEET SS 2023 cutoff was 50 percentile, which was later reduced to 20 percentile. The cutoff refers to the minimum score one has to obtain in order to qualify for the next round of admission, which is the counselling process. Q:   Will I qualify NEET SS exam if I score 40 percentile?

A: 

No. Candidates will have to score the minimum cut off marks to qualify for NEET SS exam. NBE has prescribed the minimum qualify cut off 20 percentile. Candidates will have to score minimum 20 or more to qualify for the exam. NEET SS 2024 result will be declared by February second week. Candidates will have to download the result PDF from the official website. A separate merit list will be released for each 13 group of super speciality. Qualified candidates will have to participate in the counselling process for seat allotment.

Q:   Will NBE send NEET SS result to individual candidate?

A: 

No, candidates will have to download result for NEET SS from the official website of NBEMS. Result will be released in PDF format, comprising roll number, marks scored, and merit position. A separate result will be declared for each group. Candidates who qualify with the minimum cut off will be able to download the scorecard.

NEET SS 2024 counselling process will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) tentatively from May 2025 onwards. The NEET SS counselling process will be conducted in an online mode wherein eligible candidates will have to register, fill and lock choices, based on which they will be allotted seats. For each round, MCC will release the seat matrix, based on which candidates will have to fill choices. 

Candidates will have to report to the allotted institutes and pay the admission fee to complete the process. They can also request for seat upgradation in case they are not satisfied with the initial offer. There are two to three rounds of NEET SS counselling and the number of rounds can increase, based on the number of vacant seats.

Q:   Can I carry stationary items at NEET SS exam Centre?

A: 

No. Candidates can't carry stationary items such as pen, writing pad etc. They can carry only admit card and valid photo identity proof at exam centre. List of items which are debarred at NEET SS exam centre include:

  • Any stationery item like textual material (printed or written), Pen Drives, Eraser, etc. 
  • Any electronic device like mobile phone, Bbluetooth, earphones etc.
  • All ornaments like bracelets, rind, earrings, Nose-pin
  •  Other items like wallet, Goggles, Water Bottle etc.
  • Any eatable item opened or packed, soft drinks, water bottle etc.

There is no fixed syllabus for NEET SS. The questions can be asked from all the topics that have been covered during both, the undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications. Q:   What is the NEET SS Exam?

A: 

NEET SS or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Super Speciality Courses) is conducted by the National Board of Education for admission to various DM/ M.Ch. Courses. It is a qualifying cum ranking examination for admission to super speciality courses. For appearing in NEET SS, aspirants should hold a postgraduate degree (MD/MS/DNB) or any equivalent examination. By qualifying the exam, candidates can take admission in speciality courses. According to the Indian Medical Council Act, 2016, no other entrance test is valid for admission to these courses. NEET SS is conducted annually in computer-based mode.

Q:   Does NBE send NEET SS admit card on email?

A: 

No. NBE doesn't send NEET SS admit card on email. Candidates have to download the admit card from the official website, nbe.edu.in. Candidates are informed through SMS/Email alerts and website notice regarding availability of the admit card on the official website. Candidates do have to affix firmly their the latest passport size photograph in the space provided on the admit card. The photograph should be coloured with white backround. To download NEET SS admit card, candidates need to enter login ID and password. There is no fee involved to download admit card multiple times.

Q:   My name is spelt incorrectly in NEET SS admit card. What should I do?

A: 

If you have spelt your name correctly in the application form of NEET SS and it is still misspelled on the admit card, he/she must contact the office of NBE to get it corrected. This is the reason candidates are advised to check all details on NEET SS admit card carefully after download. To correct the detail, candidates should email the exam conducting body immediately. while writing email for correction in NEET SS admit card, candidates should take care of following things:

  • Be clear and concise in your communication with NBEMS
  • Provide accurate and complete information in your request
  • Be patient and allow time for NBEMS to process your request
