AFCAT Last Minute Preparation Tips 2024: With just few days left for the exam, applicants are at the last leg of their preparations. It is a crucial exam for all the candidates who dream of serving the esteemed air force. The target of candidates should be to score good marks in the exam so that they can clear the cutoff. During the last days leading to the exam, the focus of candidates should be on revision. Starting a new topic for preparation is not recommended right now, as it may lead to confusion. Instead, the sole focus is to revise the topics that candidates have already studied. In this article, we have provided some last-minute preparation tips for AFCAT 2024 exam.

AFCAT Exam Pattern

AFCAT exam pattern is divided into four sections: General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning, and Military Aptitude Test. The duration of the test is two hours. The question paper comprises 100 questions. The maximum number of marks allotted to the test are 300. The Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) exam is conducted for candidates who have opted for the Ground Duty Technical Branch. Those who have applied for this branch are required to appear both in AFCAT and EKT. The duration of EKT is 45 minutes. The EKT exam carries questions from Mechanical, Computer Science, and Electrical and Electronics. The test paper carries a total of 50 questions. The maximum marks allotted to the exam are 150.

Here are few section-wise preparation tips for AFCAT exam:

Preparation Tips for English

  • For building vocabulary, note down the new words and practice them by understanding the meaning from the dictionary.
  • Cultivate the habit of reading newspapers or journals to increase your strength of vocabulary.
  • Topics such as Antonyms & Synonyms, Fill in the Blanks, Error Detection, Tenses, and Basic Grammar, are important for the exam.

Preparation Tips for General Awareness

  • Read newspapers and magazines to know local, regional, national, and international news.
  • Go through the news related to politics, sports, fashion, food, etc.

Preparation Tips for Numerical Ability

  • Practice and revise topics such as Time and Work, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Percentages, Data Interpretation, etc.
  • Learn the basics and clear your concepts for every topic
  • To keep formulas in mind, write them on a sticky note and paste them right infront of your study table. So that you can take a glance at the formulas easily.

Preparation Tips for Reasoning Ability & Military Aptitude

  • Practice topics such as Venn Diagram, Blood Relation, Embedded Figures, Sequencing, Puzzles, etc.
  • Solve the previous year’s paper as much as possible. This will give you a better insight into the types of questions that are asked in the exam and you can practice accordingly.

AFCAT Last-Minute Preparation Tips 2024: General Tips

Candidates can check below few last-minute preparation tips for the AFCAT exam:

  • Do not take any stress and try to revise AFCAT syllabus again. Revise the key points from each topic
  • Revise important formulas for Mathematics and learn shortcut tricks
  • Solve previous years' AFCAT question papers to know the type of questions asked in the Numerical Ability section
  • Go through important topics such as Ancient History, Medieval History, and Modern History
  • Revise static GK, Geography, Physical Geography, Indian Geography, and World Geography
  • Revise current affairs such as national, international, and economic affairs. Go through all defense-related major happenings, military exercises, recent awards and honours, and sports events
  • Carry all necessary documents for the exam such as AFCAT admit card and photo-identity proof
  • Reach AFCAT exam centre early to complete the verification process. Once the exam starts, you will not be given permission to enter the exam hall
  • Keep calm and have the presence of mind while attempting questions in the exam
  • Attempt those questions only that you have adequate knowledge and confidence. Do not do guesswork as there is negative marking in the exam
