Ministry of Home Affairs is conducting IB ACIO exam online in three shifts. Lakhs of candidates are appearing in IB ACIO Tier-I exam. A total of 2000 vacancies will be filled to the post of Intelligence Bureau Assistant Central Intelligence (IB ACIO) in Grade-II. The exam was last conducted in 2017. According to the feedback shared by the students, the overall paper was easy to moderate in terms of difficulty level. The General Awareness and General Studies sections were easy to moderate while Quantitative Aptitude, Logical/Analytical Ability and English Language sections were easy. There is no change in the exam pattern.

IB ACIO Tier-I exam comprised questions from General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Analytical/Logical Ability, English Language. The paper carried a total of 100 objective-type questions. Total marks allotted to the test are 100. The duration of the test was one hour.

Shiksha visited one of the IB ACIO exam centres 2020-21 in Noida to gather their feedback regarding the difficulty level of the exam. Check below the feedback shared by the students.

Siddharth said, “The Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and English Language sections were easy. General Studies questions were conclusion based similar as the ones asked in Civil Services exam. Current Affairs questions were based on the events that took place in June and July last year.”

Vaishali Yadav said, “The overall paper was good and doable. The paper carried 20 questions each from General Awareness, General Studies, Reasoning/Logical Ability, English and Quantitative Aptitude. The Reasoning paper was easy and questions were asked from Coding and Decoding. I could not attempt much questions from Quant due to lack of time. The General Awareness questions were from recent events. There were many questions from Geography. The English section was also good.”

Aman, who appeared for the first time in the exam said, “The paper was average in terms of difficulty level. The Quantitative Aptitude section was easy. The Reasoning and English sections were average. I found the General Awareness and General Studies sections tougher compared to other sections. I prepared for the exam from online resources. There were no questions from Reading Comprehension in English Language. Questions in this section were basically asked from Synonyms, Antonyms, Jumbled paragraph, etc. In Quant, very basic level questions were asked such LCM and HCF. In General Studies, questions were asked from budget 2021, Niti Aayog, etc.”

Kunika Saxena said, “The paper was easy to moderate. The Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and English sections were easy. The General Awareness and General Studies sections were moderate. In Quant, questions were asked from Series. In Reasoning, questions were asked from Coding and Decoding, Puzzles, etc. In English, questions were asked from Synonyms, Antonyms, etc. In General Studies, questions were asked from Biology, Physics, History, Economics, etc.”

Karan Mansur, who is also preparing for Civil Services exam said, “The paper was average in terms of difficulty level. I found the Reasoning section to be difficult. Other sections of the exam were easy. In General Studies and General Awareness, there were some questions from Life Science of NCERT Class 9 and 10 levels. There were also questions from budget, polity, economics, etc. In English, questions were asked from Synonyms, Antonyms, One-Word Substitution, etc. In Maths, questions were asked from LCM, HCF, Percentages. Compared to the exam held in 2017, the level of the paper was difficult.”

IB ACIO scorecard is released along with the result. The scorecard is released online and candidates can download it by logging with the required credentials. The hard copy of the scorecard is not sent by post.

The marking scheme of IB ACIO is given below:

  • There will be a negative marking of ¼ mark for each wrong answer in the Tier I exam
  • For a correct answer in Tier I, candidates will get one mark
  • No marks will be awarded for un-attempted questions
