Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2024 notification has been released for the July session. The CBSE released the official CTET notification 2024 on March 7, 2024, containing the details related to the exam such as the application process, exam pattern, syllabus, exam analysis, result, certificate and mark sheet. The 19th edition of the CTET exam will be conducted on Jul7 7, 2024 offline in pen and paper mode.

Q:   Who sets the CTET question paper?

A:
The CTET Unit of the Central Board of Secondary Education CBSE Sets the CTET question paper every year. The CTET exam comprises two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. The CTET exam pattern lays down the structure of both papers including the number of questions asked in the exam, the marking scheme and the name of the subjects.

Q:   Is it compulsory to attempt questions from both the languages of the CTET paper?

A:
Yes, it is compulsory to attempt questions from both languages sections of the CTET examination. The Language-I and Language-II sections are different and are compulsory in nature. Candidates need to attempt both the sections while giving the exam. Each Language section carries 30 marks and 30 multiple choice questions (MCQs).. .

Q:   Why are CTET question papers important?

A:
CTET question papers are important source of exam preparation. Practicing the CTET previous years' papers helps candidates in understanding the exam pattern and structure. Candidates get to know the types of questions asked in the exam along with the difficulty level and marking scheme by attempting the CTET question papers.

Q:   What is the format of CTET Question Papers?

A:

The CTET question paper is available as a test booklet during the exam. The question paper contains the multiple choice questions in two languages- Hindi/ English and the language chosen by the candidate. There will be a total of 150 multiple choice questions (MCQs) in the paper. Each question will have four different options. Candidates need to answer the most appropriate option in the exam.

Yes, the CBSE releases the CTET question papers on the official website of the exam. Candidates can easily download the CTET question papers without any hassle. Practicing the CTET previous years' question papers helps candidates in understanding the nature of the exam and knowing the important topics that are expected in the exam.

Q: What is CTET exam?

A: The CTET stands for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), which is an eligibility exam that is conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates as Classes 1 to 8 teachers in the central schools such as KVS, NVS, etc.

Q: What is the date of CTET 2024?

A: The CTET 2024 exam date has been announced by the CBSE. The CTET exam 2024 will be held on January 21, 2024. 

Q: Is BEd required for CTET?

A: Yes, BEd is required for the CTET, however, it is not a compulsory requirement. One of the CTET eligibility criteria states that candidates who have completed graduation with a minimum of 50 per cent marks and a BEd degree can appear for the CTET exam.

Q: Who is eligible for CTET?

A: Candidates who have attained 18 years of age and passed their senior secondary exam or graduation with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible for the CTET exam. Moreover, it is compulsory to have a diploma/ degree in teacher education to be eligible for the CTET exam. It may be noted here that the CTET eligibility criteria differ for Paper 1 and Paper 2.

A: Can 12th pass apply for CTET?

A: If a candidate wants to apply for the CTET Paper 1, that is, Primary Teacher, he or she can apply for the exam after passing Class 12 with a minimum of 50% aggregate. However, in order to apply for CTET Paper 2 (Elementary Teacher), candidates must be graduated.

Q: How many times CTET is held in a year?

A: The CTET exam is generally conducted twice a year. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the CTET exam frequency has been impacted. It is solely upon the CBSE to decide the exam frequency of the CTET.

Q: How can I apply for CTET 2024?

A: You can apply for the CTET 2024 exam by following the below-mentioned steps:

  • Register by entering the required details

Q: When will CTET admit card 2024 be released?

A: CTET admit card is typically released about three weeks before the exam. The admit card is released in online mode on the official website of the exam - ctet.nic.in. Candidates need to download the admit card and carry it to the exam centre.

Q: Is CTET valid for a lifetime?

A: Yes, the CTET exam is now valid for a lifetime. Earlier, the validity of the CTET certificate was seven years from the date of declaration of the CTET results. However, the NCTE extended the TET certificate validity for life in 2021. Following this decision of the NCTE, the CBSE extended CTET certificate validity for a lifetime.

Q: What is the applicability of CTET?

CTET pass candidates can use the eligibility certificate and apply for teacher recruitment in:

  • Central Government schools such as KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, and others.
  • Schools under the administrative control of UTs such as Delhi, Chandigarh, Daman & Diu, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep.
  • Private schools that consider the CTET qualification
  • State Government & local bodies schools, only if they have not conducted their state TET exams.

Q: What is the salary of candidates recruited through the CTET exam?

A: The pay scale of CTET qualified candidates usually ranges from INR 9,300-34,800. However, the net paid CTET salary of candidates can go up to INR 48,000 per month.

Q: What should be the CTET preparation strategy in the last few months of the exam?

A: In the last few months prior to the CTET exam, candidates should focus on the revision of the studied subjects and topics if they have already completed their syllabus. Also, during this time candidates' preparation strategy should focus on solving previous years’ CTET question papers and attempting CTET mock tests to boost confidence and improve time management skills.

Q: What are the safety measures that candidates should take at the CTET exam centre?

A: There are high chances that CTET 2024 exam will be held amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In such a case, candidates need to follow all the social distancing guidelines prescribed by the government to ensure their safety. Some of the measures that candidates must take include:

  • Wear masks and disposable gloves to the test centre
  • Maintain a distance of at least two feet from the fellow candidates
  • Avoid touching face, eyes, nose and mouth
  • Avoid touching any surface or substance unless necessary
  • Carry extra pen/pencil so that there is no need to borrow it from anybody
  • Sanitize hands frequently using the sanitiser available at the test centre
