Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a national level competitive examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to recruit primary and elementary school teachers for Central government-run schools across the country.  Every year the examination is held twice, once each in July and December.

CTET Hindi Exam Syllabus

Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is an exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to recruit primary and elementary school teachers for Central government-run schools such as Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, etc. CTET-qualified teachers start their career either as primary (Class I-V) or elementary (Class VI-VIII) school teachers.

CTET Examination Pattern

CTET examination constitutes of two papers: Paper-I and Paper-II. The examination is held offline at specific centres announced by the CBSE once each in July and December. The duration of each paper is 150 minutes or two and a half hours. The candidates may either take up Paper-I or Paper-II or both. Those who opt for teaching in the primary schools only should sit for Paper-I and those who want to join the elementary schools as teachers would appear for Paper-II. If the candidates wish to teach students from class I-VIII, they would sit for both the papers. However, both the examinations are held on the same day at different time. Here is the timetable of the two exams.

Each paper contains 150 questions, carrying one mark each. In both the papers, Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) are asked. Each question has four options and the candidates have to choose one option as the answer and circle it on the OMR sheet.

CTET Syllabus

The candidates aspiring to appear for the exam should know the CTET Syllabus well which has been tailored in accordance with the NCERT syllabus of different classes. So, in order to qualify in this examination the candidates may consult NCERT books prescribed for different subjects. 

CTET Syllabus of Hindi

CTET questions are set in English and Hindi. This would mean that the candidates can write the examination either in English or in Hindi. Besides, for the language they can choose Hindi, English and any other Indian language. They have to select two different languages for Paper-I and Paper-II. For instance, if they choose English as Language 1, they would have to choose Hindi or any other Indian language as Language 2. It is to be noted that, if they choose Hindi as Language 1, it would be considered as their medium of instruction. Here is what the syllabus would be if you choose Hindi as a language in both the papers.

Paper 1 & 2: Hindi Syllabus (Language 1 & 2)

Language Comprehension: There are 15 questions under this category. These include reading unseen passages – two passages one prose or drama and one poem with questions on

4. Verbal Ability (Prose passage may be literary, scientific, narrative or discursive).

Pedagogy of Language Development - 15 Questions: Another set of 15 questions that revolve around learning and acquisition; principles of language teaching; role of listening and speaking; function of language and how children use it as a tool; Critical perspective on the role of grammar in learning a language for communicating ideas verbally and in written form; challenges of teaching language in a diverse classroom; evaluating language comprehension and proficiency; teaching-learning material; and remedial teaching.
