Q:   What is the CUET UG cut off for BHU?

A:

BHU accepts CUET UG scores for admission to several undergraduate courses, including BA (Hons.) in Social Sciences, BA LLB (Hons.), BSc (Hons.) Mathematics and BSc (Hons.) Biology, among others. CUET cut off for BHU has been released for UG courses. BHU has released the Round 8 Seat Allotment Result and as per the BHU last round cutoff 2023, B Sc (Hons) Agriculture was the most competitive course with a cutoff score of 506.96 for the General category student. Candidates can refer to the table given below to check out the BHU cut off 2023 for several undergradute courses:

Q:   How is CUET UG cut off calculated?

A:

The CUET UG cut off is determined by CUET participating universities seperately. Parameters on the basis of which CUET UG cut off is released are:

  • Total number of candidates that appeared for the CUET UG exam
  • The number of seats offered by the participating universities through CUET UG
  • The difficulty level of the CUET exam
  • Overall performance of the test takers (pass percentage/ score range, etc.)

CUET cut off is based on the percentile of the candidate. To calculate the CUET percentile following formula is applied:

100*Number of candidates appeared in the session with a raw score is equal to or less than a candidate/ total number of candidates appeared for CUET UG.

What is CUET Normalisation 2025?

Providing a solution to the above-mentioned problem, NTA stated a technique called as ''equi-percentile method''.  According to NTA,'' In this method, percentile for each candidate is calculated using the raw marks of the candidate as compared to the raw marks of others in the same session. This is done for every session across multiple days for the same subject. These percentiles are then equated and converted into normalised marks. For sessions with a smaller number of candidates, these are clubbed with bigger sessions.''

In the normalisation process, the raw marks of students appearing for the same subject on different days and multiple shifts, are converted into normalised marks. The UGC Chairman, Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, explaining about the Normalisation process, talking to PTI said, ''These normalised marks of the candidates, obtained using equipercentile method, in different sessions in a given subject can be used in the same way we use the raw marks of a conventional single session examination. Therefore, in a particular university, if the raw marks of the skill component have a certain weightage it can be added to the remaining weightage of the normalized marks to prepare the rank list.''

How Normalised Marks are Calculated?

As mentioned above, equipercentile method is used for all candidates who appeared in different sessions for the same subject to make comparisons across sessions. Here are the different steps involved in calculating normalised marks.

Step 1: Calculation of Percentiles of students in each shift using raw marks of multiple shifts

To find the percentile, first the percentile of each group of students is calculated using the raw marks they have scored in each shift.

Step 2: Percentiles are arranged in descending order

In the second step, these percentiles are arranged in descending order by noting the raw marks of the students in each shift.

Step 3: Linear interpolation

Then through the linear interpolation method, marks of students are calculated in the above blanks in the table.

Q:   How is CUET normalized score calculated?

A:

The CUET (Common University Entrance Test) normalised scores are derived through a systematic process that ensures fairness across different testing sessions. Here’s a detailed breakdown of how these scores are calculated:

  1. Raw Marks Collection: Initially, each candidate's raw marks are collected after they complete the exam. These marks represent the number of correct answers each candidate achieved.

  2. Percentile Calculation: For each candidate, their percentile is calculated based on how their raw marks compare to those of other candidates who took the exam in the same session. This percentile indicates the relative standing of a candidate among their peers within that specific session.

  3. Session Equating: The process involves multiple testing sessions that may occur over several days for the same subject. The percentiles calculated for each session are then equated to ensure consistency in scoring across all sessions.

  4. Normalisation Process: After equating the percentiles, they are converted into normalised marks. This step helps to standardise scores across varying exam conditions and candidate populations.

  5. Handling Smaller Sessions: In instances where a session has a limited number of candidates, those scores are aggregated with larger sessions. This clubbing ensures that every candidate's performance is compared against a more substantial and diverse group, leading to a more reliable and equitable normalised score.
