A:

Preparing for an exam like CUET requires a strategic approach. Here are a few tips that can help you prepare effectively in these last days of preparation:

  1. Revise the syllabus: Make sure you have covered all the topics that are part of the syllabus. Go through each topic once again to ensure that you have a good understanding of all the concepts.
  2. Practice previous years' question papers: Solving previous years' question papers can give you an idea about the type of questions that can be asked in the exam. It can also help you identify your weak areas and work on them.
  3. Take mock tests: Mock tests can help you simulate the exam environment and give you an idea of your preparation level. You can also use them to practice time management.
  4. Focus on your weak areas: Identify your weak areas and work on them. Spend more time on topics that you find difficult to understand.
  5. Stay calm and confident: It's important to stay calm and confident during the exam. Avoid last-minute cramming and trust your preparation.

Shiksha: What motivated you to aim for a great score in CUET 2023 exam?

Sejal: As I mentioned I come from NCR, and everyone at my school and coaching aimed to get into the best colleges in the country, especially the University of Delhi. It being such a prestigious university, we have always heard about college life at DU, from our seniors to our teachers. From being able to spend 3 precious years of my life at DU, getting a chance to study at the top colleges of the country at the undergraduate level and at the same time enjoying the campus life, attending and organizing the fests, being a member of few of the best committees out there was the motivating factor for me.

Shiksha: How did you manage your time effectively during your exam preparation? Please share your preparation strategy.

Sejal: My preparation strategy was quite simple and much of my preparation was done while I was preparing for my CBSE Board Exams because the content of both the exams is similar just a few additional topics in CUET, that too from grade 11th only and some topics that were deleted from CBSE syllabus. So, the difference comes in the format of the exams, CBSE Board Exams are subjective whereas CUET is objective. Till the month of March, I focused on my board exams and followed all the instructions given by our teachers after the boards I dedicated 1.5 months to CUET, revised my notes, and practiced objective-type questions provided by my coaching institute.

Q:   In which courses can I secure admission through CUET?

A:

Through CUET, one can secure admission in various UG courses offered by 41 Central Universities, 36 State Universities, 29 Deemed Universities and 110 Private Universities and three other universities of India. The courses are offered across Science, Humanities, Commerce, Engineering, Law, Management and other streams. The number of participating institutes has increased exponentially this year.

Q:   Is 350 a good score in CUET UG for the Central University of Jammu?

A:

Central University of Jammu accepts CUET UG scores for admission to variou undergraduate and integrated courses. Central University of Jammu CUET UG cutoff 2023 has been released up to Round 5. CUET UG cutoff for Central University of Jammu ranged between 170.11 and 60. So, considering the previous year cutoff trends for Central University of Jammu, 350 is not a good score to get admission. Candidates can refer to the table given below to check out the previous year Round 1 CUET UG scores, which will give some idea for Central University of Jammu CUET first merit list:

Q:   How difficult is it to crack the CUCET?

A:
Hi, the CUET exam is not difficult to crack. Based on the responses from the candidates who appeared in 2022 & 2023, the difficulty level of the exam ranges from easy to moderate, with occasional increased difficulty in a few subjects. The main thing to remember when preparing for CUET is to have a thorough understanding of the NCERTs and sufficient mock preparation. If you have these 2 in your arsenal, cracking CUET is not going to be difficult at all.

Q:   How do I prepare for CUET UG and Board examinations?

A:

The syllabus for CUET UG domain subjects will be based on class 12th to reduce the stress of preparing for both the exams. To prepare for CUET UG and Board examination, here are few important tips:

  • Start early preparation for CUET UG and board exams. This will give you enough time to cover the syllabus, practice the questions, and get familiar with the exam pattern.
  • Create a study plan: Once you are familiar with the syllabus for both exams, create a study plan that will help you cover all the topics in a systematic manner. Make sure to allocate enough time for each subject and topic.
  • Focus on the subjects that you are struggling with. Consider taking a few practice CUET UG tests to see where you stand.
  • Manage your time effectively. Practice answering questions under timed conditions so that you can get used to the pressure of the exam.
  • Use the right resources. There are many resources available to help you prepare for the CUET UG and board exams. These include NCERT textbooks, practice questions, and mock tests. Use the resources that work best for you and that will help you improve your knowledge and skills.

Q:   What is a good score in CUET UG?

A:

On analysing the CUET UG cut off for the academic year 2024-25, scoring above 700 marks can be considered a good score in CUET UG. Candidates scoring above 700 may fall in the category of 95+ percentile. Candidates can get admission to top universities like University of Delhi, Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and other top central universities in the desired course. Given below is the range that is considered good for admission to top universities:

  • Very Good Score: 700 and above
  • Good Score: 650 and above

Score range between 400-649 is considered an average score. Admission on the basis of the average score can et into any decent college in India accepting CUET scores.

Shiksha: Can you share any challenges or obstacles you faced during your preparation and how you overcame them?

Sejal: The only challenge I faced during my preparation was to study the topics deleted from CBSE syllabus, so to cover those topics, I used to watch a YouTube video for that topic and then read that topic from NCERT and then did the back exercise questions from NCERT.

Shiksha: How did you prepare for CUET UG? Self-study or Coaching? Which method was effective for you?

Sejal: Actually, I did both. I did self-study for domain subjects and I took coaching for the General Test. I was also preparing for the IPMAT exam so, the general test was covered in that and I didn’t have to prepare for it separately. I would like to elaborate on the preparation of domain subjects here, studying sincerely for the board exams would do the trick. As I mentioned, the difference is only in the format of the two exams, so once you are thorough with the syllabus during board preparation, the only thing left is to revise it and practice as many questions as possible. I had a habit of making notes and it did wonders for me. So, while I was preparing for boards, I made notes for all the subjects and once I got over with board exams, I just revised my notes and practiced questions. I had already read NCERT quite a few times during boards so in those 1.5 months, notes proved to be very helpful.

Shiksha: Apart from your academic studies, were you involved in any extracurricular activities? How did you balance your studies and other commitments?

Sejal: I was more academically inclined in my high school. But, apart from academics, I was a member of the student council in my school and I used to help in organizing some events at school. All of that was managed within school hours only and it didn’t affect my studies as such.

Shiksha: What subjects did you find most challenging in CUET syllabus, and how did you overcome those challenges?

Sejal: The most challenging subject for me was Mathematics. Being able to solve complex and lengthy questions of integration and differentiation was a task for me. But Mathematics was an important subject for few courses that I was aiming for. So, I took the help of some of my friends at school and also consulted the Mathematics teacher at my tuition centre and she was kind enough to guide and help me at the last moment.

Shiksha: Which all universities did you apply for? What was your dream college?

Sejal: I applied for CUET admission 2023 for Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, Delhi Technological University and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University among a few others. My dream college is Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, the best college in the country for commerce students aspiring to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) on the basis of my CUET score.

Shiksha: What advice would you give to your fellow students who aspire to achieve a high percentile in their Class 12th and CUET exam?

Sejal: The only advice that I have for the students is that class 12th and CUET is not as difficult as it appears to be. I know it can be overwhelming sometimes to be able to manage both of them at the same time. But trust me if you prepare well for grade 12th exams then preparing for CUET will become much easier for you. For boards, you just have to be thorough with the NCERT and then solve some past year papers which are really helpful and easily available online. Past-year papers are a must for every student because it helps you to acclimatize yourself with the paper pattern and you will be able to ace your board exams. Once you are done with your board exams, you get around 1.5 months to prepare for CUET, where you are already aware of the content and are just left with practice of some objective questions which you can easily find online. Lastly, just give your best shot and don’t stress too much on the results, you will also make your way like I did.

Shiksha: Lastly, do you have any other notable achievements or experiences during your high school journey that you would like to share with us?

Sejal: The notable experience for me was to be able to witness Mr. Kaspar Meyer, Cultural Attache & Head of Science and Technology at German Embassy, New Delhi at the school annual function and receiving the ‘All Rounder of the Year’ award from him.
