NTA has revised the CUET UG 2025 exam pattern. UGC Chairperson Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar suggested that CUET UG will witness changes in exam duration, mode of examination and number of subjects. The exam has rolled back to CBT mode. CUET UG will have three sections. Section 1 will have 13 languages, Section 2 includes 23 domain subjects and Section 3 will be a General Test. Candidates will be permitted to take up to five subjects which has been reduced from six. Students will be eligible to opt for any CUET subject irrespective of subjects studied in class 12th. Candidates can start preparing for CUET UG along with the boards exam.
The CUET 2025 exam date will be announced soon. It is expected that exam will be scheduled in May/June 2025. CUET UG 2025 will be divided into three parts which will carry objective-type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The medium of the CUET question paper will be English and the languages chosen by candidates among 12 regional languages. Each question will carry five marks and for each wrong answer, there will be a negative marking of one mark.

What's New in CUET Exam Pattern?
UGC chairman has introduced the following changed from CUET UG 2025 onwards:
- Students will be allowed to appear for CUET UG subjects irrespective of subject studied in class 12th
- CUET UG will now be held in CBT mode only
- CUET will be conducted for 37 subjects (23 subjects, 13 languages, general test) instead of 63 subjects
- CUET subjects will have a uniform duration of 60 minutes
- Admissions for discontinued subjects will be based on General Aptitude Test scores

Q: Â What is the total score in CUET UG?
CUET UG total marks is 250 Marks for each subject. Candidates can chosoe upto five CUET subjects. Each subject's total marks will be 250 marks. The CUET total marks will be unform for all 37 subjects. Candidates can choose three to four domain subjects, one compulsory langauge and general test (optional).

No, CUET syllabus is not based on CBSE syllabus as claimed by Education Ministry in Rajya Sabha on August 02, 2023. The CUET exam is designed to assess the general understandig of the candidate in subjects he/she has opted for. Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG is an entrance examination conducted for admission to undergraduation programs offered by various central, state, private and deemed universities. Candidates willing to take admission to undergraduation programme in streams like Science, Humanities, Commerce, Law and Management must appear for the CUET UG exam when conducted.

Q: Â What is the full form of CUET UG?
The full form of CUET (UG) is Common University Entrance Test (UG). CUET (UG) 2024 will provides a single window opportunity to students to get admission in any of the Central Universities (CUs), and other participating universities (State Universities, Autonomous Institution, Private University, deemed University) across the country, for the academic session 2024-25. CUET (UG) 2024 will provide a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates across the country, especially those from rural and other remote areas and help establish better connect with the Universities. CUET UG Marking Scheme
The total marks of the CUET exam is 250 marks. The marking scheme as per NTA is given below.
- Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Five marks (+5)
- Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1).
- Unanswered/Marked for Review will be given no mark (0).
- If more than one option is found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.
- If all options are found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.
- If none of the options is found correct or a question is found to be wrong or a question is dropped, then all candidates who have attempted the dropped question will be given five marks (+5) marks.

Q: Â How do I select the domain subjects for CUET UG?
Before selecting the test or domain subjects, candidates are advised to visit the official website of university/organaisation they wish to apply for. Candidates must check the courses offered and eligibility test that they should appear in for admission to desired course. The choice of language/domain subject and General test will depend upon the course and university. Candidates will be able to opt for one or more tests as per the requirement of the course and university fro the following sections:

Candidates are advised to check the University where the desired UG course is offered and check the eligibity test to appear for admission to the university. Follow the steps below to check the eligibility test:

Q: Â How many questions are there in the language section of CUET UG?
CUET UG Language section will consist of 50 questions. Candidates will be required to attempt 40 out of 50 question in CUET UG exam. The language section will assess candidate's reading comprehension based on different types of passages. This section will also include questions from grammar. To prepare for the CUET UG language section candidates must solve previous year question papers and mock tests to become familiar with the type of questions asked in the exam. Candidates will be given duration of 45 minutes to attend this section of CUET UG.

CUET UG langauge section will now consist of 13 languages instead of 33 languages. The 13 langauges of CUET UG 2025 are: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. Q: Â Is CUET UG syllabus for Language section similar for all languages?
Yes, CUET UG syllabus for section 1 is same for all sections included. NTA suggests the syllabus for all the sections. The syllabus for CUET Language section will be inclusive of following topics, but are not limited to:
- Reading comprehension (This will include three passagaes of maximum 300-350 words):
- Factual
- Narrative
- Literary
- Verbal ability
- Rearranging the parts
- Choosing the correct word
- Synonyms and antonyms

To prepare for the CUET UG section- 1 Languages candidates must solve CUET sample papers and take mock tests to become familar with the type of questions that will be asked in CUET UG. Q: Â When should I start preparing for CUET UG?
The ideal time to begin the preparation for CUET UG may vary from person to person depending upon the familarity with the subject, understanding of the concepts, difficulty level of the subject and so forth. However, candidates are recomnmened to begin preparing for CUET UG along with the preparation of board examination. The CUET UG syllabus is similar to NCERT syllabus. Candidates must focus on solving CUET mock tests and CUET previous year question papers to become familar with the difficulty level of the exam. If a candidate has good familiarity with the subject must begin the preparation 3-4 months prio to exam date, whereas candidates must ideally start preparing for CUET UG 6 months prior to exam date. CUET UG Syllabus 2025
NTA releases the CUET UG syllabus on the official website. One of the main differences between the CUET syllabus 2025 with other entrance exams such as JEE Main and NEET is that, while the former is only a Class 12 syllabus, the other two exams test candidates' knowledge of both Class 11 and Class 12 chapters and topics. CUET UG syllabus varies from subject to subject. Prior to starting the preparation, candidates must have downloaded the subject-wise CUET UG syllabus PDFs. The number of units or chapters and topics varies from subject to subject. Hence, candidates must prepare according to the subjects opted by them.

Q: Â Are NCERT books enough to cover CUET syllabus?
Since the CUET syllabus is in line with the Class 12 Board exam syllabus, it can be safely assumed that the NCERT books are enough to cover the syllabus of the exam. Candidates must note that, CUET exam tests students' understanding of the concepts and ability to apply them in various situations.
Therefore, to prepare well and get a good score, it is advised that students refer to other study materials and books designed for national level competitive entrance exams. The CUET UG syllabus is in tune with the Class 12 Board exam syllabus. The chapters and topics are similar to Class 12 syllabus. Unlike other UG entrance exams, CUET UG syllabus does not include Class 11 syllabus.
Q: Â Does the CUET syllabus also include chapters from Class 11?
No, the CUET 2025 syllabus does not include the chapters or topics from Class 11 syllabus. The exam, which is conducted for multiple subjects and languages, has to be prepared by completing the Class 12 syllabus only. NTA has also released the subject-wise syllabus of the CUET UG 2025 exam, which will be held in third week of May in hybrod mode.
However, students may refer to the Class 11 syllabus for better conceptual clarity and to make the base of the domain subjects stronger. But as far as the actual syllabus is concerned, it will only be based on Class 12 CBSE or NCERT syllabus.
Q: Â What is the syllabus of CUET?
Common Univeristy Entrance Test (CUET) result is released by National Testing Agency. CUET syllabus is divided into three sections viz., Languages, Domain Subject and General Test. CUET language section assesses candidate through reading comprehension (factual, literary, and narrative), literary aptitude and vocabulary. Apart from the domain subjects, you should also prepare separately for the language subjects and General Test (if opted for). Some of the key CUET UG 2025 preparation strategies are as follows:

In the 1st phase, prepare your entire syllabus, schedule your mock practice in the 2nd phase and keep revision + mock practice in the 3rd phase. Even though the pattern or structure would be different, the question papers of CUET will serve the purpose of giving an overview of the domain-specific subjects.
