Strong faculty and research opportunities, with good infrastructure.
Placements: The placement rate for B.Sc. Physics graduates trends to be moderate, with around 30–50% of students typically securing jobs directly after graduation. Starting salaries for Physics graduates may be around INR 3-5 LPA, especially in teaching or laboratory technician roles. Approximately 50–70% of Physics students at the postgraduate level secure internships, often through research institutes or industrial R&D labs. Physics graduates can pursue a wide variety of roles, especially with interdisciplinary fields gaining popularity.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are equipped with projectors, whiteboards, and comfortable seating to facilitate learning. The laboratories are well-maintained and have modern equipment for experiments in various branches of physics, such as optics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, and solid-state physics. The labs may also have computer terminals for data analysis and simulations. High-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the department and campus, so students can access research papers, course materials, and online learning resources. The library has a dedicated physics section with an extensive collection of textbooks, reference materials, and journals. The rooms are generally decent and have basic amenities such as beds, desks, storage, and fans.
Faculty: Our university has highly qualified Physics faculty with advanced degrees, including Ph.D.s. Many professors are active researchers with expertise in fields such as theoretical Physics, condensed matter, astrophysics, or quantum mechanics. They are knowledgeable and helpful. While the teaching quality and faculty qualifications are generally strong, the difficulty of exams and the course emphasis on industry readiness are mostly difficult.
Other: I chose to study Physics because of my passion for understanding the laws of nature, from the smallest particles to the vastness of space. Physics provides deep insights into how the world works, from classical mechanics to quantum physics. While the curriculum is research-focused, more industry partnerships, internships, or practical projects could help bridge the gap between academia and industry. Including more recent developments in fields like quantum computing, nanotechnology, and AI could make the program more cutting-edge. On the plus side, the student body is diverse, with students from many different states. Physics students often form study groups and engage in academic discussions, but they also participate in campus-wide activities. Unfortunately, other aspects of the program are not as good.
