Comprehensive Learning, Diverse Opportunities: A College Experience Worth Investing In.
Placements: The total strength of B.A. LL.B. (H. ) batch is 50, out of which 28 students got placed this year. The highest package offered was 7 LPA, and the lowest was 3 LPA. The median package was around 5 LPA. Top recruiting company were Airtel, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, etc. Almost every student gets opportunity to do internship mainly in their District and Sessions Court, Law firms, in NGOs, etc. The roles offered are legal advisory, legal writers, and drafting skills.
Infrastructure: The overall infrastructure is good. Classrooms are well-equipped with Wi-Fi and a good-quality desk. The Departmental Library is also there, in which we can find almost all law books. The hostel is too equipped with Wi-Fi, and the quality of the food is also above average. The administration is very supportive. A medical facility is also provided on the campus itself. Games are held almost every week in which you can participate and prove yourself.
Faculty: The teachers are very supportive and helpful. They try to reach each and every student and make sure that each one of them learns the concept. All teachers are NET qualified and almost 90 % of teachers have completed their Ph.D. The difficult level of semester exam is moderate. If anyone listens carefully what teacher says in the classroom, they can score good amount of marks.
Other: Since my childhood only, I was fascinated by law, so I decided to do this course. The best thing is that this course makes you feel different among ourselves from the crowd. The only thing I would suggest is that students should not focus on theoretical, but law should be practical. Severe festivals were held on my campus recently. Now AUSKRITI is going to be held soon, in which singers come and perform. Sports week is also held. Scholarships are also given to meritorious students by the administration.

Excellent infrastructure, kind professors, feels like family.
Placements: Companies are approaching for requirements for students passing out every year. There is also a job fair every year where students get selected. This is a positive impact on the students, which motivates them to study hard. A maximum of 120 students got placed in many companies.
Infrastructure: There is a departmental library and also a central library. There are water purifiers and 4 fans in a single classroom. The departmental library includes all types of law books, which can be accessed at any time. Students coming from various countries can apply for the hostel.
Faculty: The teachers are very kind and helpful towards the students. They work hard to secure a good future for the students. There are faculty members from all over the country. They are well-educated with almost 3-4 degrees. The semester exams happen twice a year. The course is 5 years long. Every year, there are 2 semester exams.
Other: Law profession is the future need of the time. I chose a law degree for the need of the future generation. By joining our department, you can improve yourself in law professions and be more perfect. With studying, one can also engage in extracurricular activities like community service, legal aid services, etc.

B.A. LL.B. at Assam University, Silchar.
Placements: In my B.A. LL.B. batch, about 3-4 students are placed each year, with placement packages ranging from 3-4 Lacs. The highest and the lowest salary packages vary, but the average package falls within this range. Top recruiting companies for our course include law firms, corporations, and legal agencies. The top roles offered are legal associate, legal advisory, and positions in corporate and government legal departments. The placement cell, which started in 2022, continues to improve industry connections to enhance job opportunities.
Infrastructure: The B.A. LL.B. department at Assam University has Wi-Fi, well-equipped classrooms, and a library with essential legal resources. The hostel offers basic facilities with rooms furnished with beds, tables, and chairs. Food quality in the mess is adequate but can be repetitive, while the canteen provides additional options. Medical facilities include basic health services, and sports facilities are available for recreational activities. The campus also has a peaceful environment conducive to focused study.
Faculty: The teachers at Assam University are qualified, knowledgeable, and helpful, with Dr. Amitabh Singh being a notable example. The teaching quality is engaging, balancing theory with practical exposure. The B.A. LL.B. curriculum is relevant, aligned with Bar Council standards, and industry-ready, incorporating core subjects, electives, and internships. Semester exams are moderately challenging, combining internal and end-semester tests. The pass percentage is around 40-50%, with students well-prepared for legal careers.
Other: I chose the B.A. LL.B. course at Assam University for its strong academic foundation, practical exposure, and vibrant campus life. The best aspects include a balanced curriculum, internships, and engaging faculty. I wish the course included more modern topics like AI in law and skill-based courses. The campus hosts various events like Law Fest, Teach Fest, and cultural fests, offering a lively crowd. The university has good connectivity and is surrounded by tea gardens, providing a peaceful environment. Scholarships are available for deserving students.

It feels great to be a part of this university.
Placements: There were approximately 60 students in my batch. Not everyone was interested in doing jobs. A maximum of the students including me want to pursue higher education, whereas the rest of the students want to practice in the court of law. Very few were involved in corporate jobs. .
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our university is very good. We had free Wi-Fi facilities, smart classroom, both central as well as departmental library. A clean mess, various canteens, a health center, gym center, facilities for sports and games, cultural fests, etc. are available.
Faculty: The teaching staff was very supportive and full of knowledge. They try to educate the students in every possible way. But the semester exams were conducted a bit tough to make us future ready. Also, there were internal tests every now and the, which made us prepare for the main exam easily.
Other: This university is very rich in cultural diversity.

Review of Assam University, Silchar.
Placements: There are plenty of students who got placed in many MNCs recently. The average package was around 5-10 LPA. Many students opt for an internship in many fields for their work experience. Overall, placement facilities are decent here.
Infrastructure: I'm very fond of the infrastructure that was built there. One of the finest infrastructures we have there. Plenty of grounds and hostels are available, and we all loved it there. Hostel qualities were also decent as well as a canteen and medical facilities. The overall infrastructure is pretty much decent.
Faculty: Faculty members are very helpful when it comes to studying related things. I must say faculty members are well qualified and their teaching method is just decent as well as their presentations. The semester exams were also not so tough as well as not that easy too.

Q:   Is Assam University good for M.A.?

A:
{Source: M.A. students & alumni}

Assam University offers a Master's degree programme in Manipuri Language and Literature, which is a unique course that focuses on the language, literature, history, and culture of Manipur. Here's what past students and alumni have said about their experience:

Pros:

* Good faculty: The professors are knowledgeable and passionate about their subject, making classes engaging and informative.
* Relevant curriculum: The course covers a wide range of topics related to Manipuri language, literature, history, and culture, providing a solid foundation for research, teaching, and cultural preservation.
* Well-maintained infrastructure: The university has modern classrooms, laboratories, and recreational facilities, ensuring a conducive environment for learning.
* Placements: While the placement record may not be outstanding, some students have secured jobs in government organizations, educational institutions, and media outlets.

Cons:

* Limited placement opportunities: Companies rarely visit the campus for recruitment, and students may need to rely on their own efforts to secure a job.
* Low stipend for interns: Internships are available, but the stipend is relatively low (Rs. 8,000 - Rs. 10,000 per month).
* Older hostels: The hostels could use renovation, according to some students.
* Food quality issues: Some students reported inconsistent food quality in the mess.

Overall Assessment:
While Assam University's M.A. programme in Manipuri Language and Literature has its strengths, such as good faculty and infrastructure, the lack of placement opportunities and low stipend for interns may deter some students. However, for those interested in pursuing a career in academia, research, or cultural preservation, this programme could still be a viable option.

Recommendation: For prospective students considering Assam University's M.A. programme in Manipuri Language and Literature, it's essential to weigh the pros and cons carefully. If you're willing to take initiative to secure a job or pursue further education, this programme could be a good fit.
