Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   Can I get direct admission at Birla Institute of Technology Patna?

A:

Admission to B.Tech at BIT Patna is based on your JEE Main score and subsequent counselling process. Here's why:

  • Standardized Entrance Exam: JEE Main is a national engineering entrance exam that ensures a fair selection process based on a common metric. This eliminates the possibility of direct admissions bypassing the merit system.

  • Transparency and Competition: Relying solely on JEE Main scores makes the admission process transparent and meritocratic. Students compete for seats based on their performance in the exam

Q:   Does Birla Institute of Technology Patna refund fees?

A:

Birla Institute of Technology Patna (BIT Patna) likely follows the refund policy set by its parent institution, Birla Institute of Technology Mesra (BIT Mesra). Here's why:

  • Common Administration: BIT Patna is an off-campus of BIT Mesra. They likely share administrative and academic policies.

  • Limited Information: BIT Patna doesn't appear to have a separate website with its own fee structure or refund policy information.

Based on this, here's what you can expect regarding fee refunds at BIT Patna:

  • Refund Policy Exists: BIT Mesra has a published refund policy on its website ( [BIT Mesra refund policy]). This policy outlines the conditions under which a student who withdraws from a programme can receive a partial refund of fees.

  • Specific Criteria Apply: The refund amount depends on factors like the programme type (B.Tech, M.Tech, etc.), semester at which a student withdraws, and any hostel fee deposits involved.

To know the exact refund policy for BIT Patna:

  • Contact BIT Patna Admissions Office: Reach out to the admissions office at BIT Patna. They can provide details on the specific fees applicable to your programme and the relevant refund policy as per BIT Mesra's guidelines.

  • Refer to BIT Mesra Refund Policy: While it might not be BIT Patna specific, reviewing the BIT Mesra refund policy ( [BIT Mesra refund policy]) will give you a general idea of the factors considered for fee refunds and the potential amount you might receive under different withdrawal scenarios.

Q:   What is the last date to apply for Birla Institute of Technology Patna admission?

A:

There isn't a single application deadline for Birla Institute of Technology Patna (BIT Patna) admissions. The application process for B.Tech, the most popular undergraduate program, is indirect and works through a national entrance exam and subsequent counselling rounds. Here's why:

  1. JEE Main Exam: You first need to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main which is typically held twice a year, in January and April. You don't apply directly to BIT Patna, but rather register for JEE Main.

  2. Counselling Process: After the JEE Main results, there's a counselling process conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) or the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB). These bodies allot seats in various engineering colleges based on a candidate's JEE Main rank and their college preferences.

There isn't a specific deadline to apply to BIT Patna because you don't directly apply to the institute. However, there will be deadlines associated with JEE Main registration and the counselling process. It's crucial to stay updated on these deadlines as they can change year to year.

This is an average college. College-life and placements are good. Campus is well-built.
Placements: Every student who takes admission in any college has a basic query, i.e., placements. With the help of our classic placement cell, placements in the college are quite good, and the fact that the college is located beside the airport also helps in placements. Students from CSE, ECE, EEE, and mechanical departments get placed in mass recruiting companies. The computer science department is always the best regarding the highest packages. But the electrical department has been giving a tough competition to the CSE department. The highest salary package offered was 14 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was 4 LPA. Companies like Tata, Wipro, Infosys, Mahindra, Capgemini, and all major companies visited the college to offer placements. Every year, almost 75-80% of students get placed. This college is good if you are concerned about placements. I would rate 3 out of 5 for placements.
Infrastructure: This campus is constructed in a small area. The campus is spread over only 25 acres. It is constructed in a very disciplined way. The only disadvantage is its small size and students may get bored because of that. There are well-laid roads from the entrance gate, and the campus is lush green. The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled, and its speed is good. The classrooms are spacious and well-ventilated, and AC is not provided in classrooms and some of the labs. So it is almost hard to bear the temperature. Labs are equipped with the latest technological equipment. An IC engine lab, thermodynamics lab, physics lab, nanotech lab, a robotics lab, automobile workshop, mechanical and production workshops, chemistry lab, electrical lab, IT and communication lab, and computer labs are available in the college. A large playground, tennis court, badminton court, cricket practice ground, and basketball court are available in the college. There are three boys hostels and one girls' hostel, and each hostel can accommodate 200-250 students. There are separate hostels for students of all years. The hostel rooms are medium sized, and sharing rooms are for the first year students only. Single rooms are provided to everyone from the 2nd year onwards. As per the fee charged, the college should provide more facilities. The college ensures tight security with the help of college guards, and the campus is under 24 hours CCTV surveillance. An ATM is available on the campus, and the food offered in the mess and canteen is very hygienic. A dispensary, hospital, and ambulance service are available for students. Electricity and water supply are available for 24 hours. The college also provides a laundry facility. Initially, it may be uncomfortable for you as there is an airport besides the college. However, it will be okay once you get used to it.
Faculty: Faculty members are helpful only in classrooms and clearing theoretical doubts. Faculty members don't encourage us to think out of the box and take up new projects. The college doesn't provide internship opportunities, and the teaching methods are normal. Only lab sessions are interesting. Faculty members are very limited. The course curriculum covers every concept of science. As far as extracurricular activities are concerned, the college offers sports and NSS. These are the things where you can showcase your talents.
Other: The college organises fests and events. Jhalak is the annual fest of the college, and the technical fest is named as Technika. The campus crowd is average. Our college provides scholarships for only a very few students. The college is 1 kilometre away from the main town where you can buy everything you need.

BITS-Patna (best in teaching). It is a heaven in the world for the students.
Placements: The placement in the BITS-Patna is very decent in my batch, where 52 out of the 65 students got placed. I too got a placement in an MNC. Many MNCs like Google, Facebook, Amazon, Twitter, Infosys, Dell, Maruti Suzuki, etc., organise student placement workshops and train the student by their monthly teaching program, which makes any student ready for the corporate world.
Infrastructure: The college has a big campus with 250 acres of an area having almost every sport, a gym and extracurricular activity. The college has also provided a hostel for both boy and girls having a free transport service in the city for the students. It also has a library with rich resources. The computer lab is also for everyone, but not only for the computer science students. There is also a big auditorium in college. The food in a mess is of good quality and is up to the mark. The snacks are also provided in the evening time by the college to the students. The classrooms of the college are big, clean, airy and air-conditioning is also provided to the classrooms and in the hostel.
Faculty: The course provided here is of the international level. The syllabus completion and practical are done regularly. The faculty here are having a great experience in teaching and acquires a great knowledge in their respective subjects. The guest faculty also visits regularly. The math teacher here is also a very nice person he teaches us very good math. After the completion of the 3rd year, in the last 6 months, the college prepares us for the corporate world by giving training.
Other: College has some backside also like 1. No swimming pool. 2. No fee deduction for the poor students. 3. The Mess food is limited and given 3 times a day with only 2-time snacks. 4. No of toilets are low considering the no of students. 5. No of buses was only 4 at my time. 6. 5 students per room in the hostel is more; it should be 3. 7. They provide non-veg for only 1 day in a weak 8. Power supply after the power cut is not up to the mark. 9. The late fine of the library is high. 10. The fine for any mistakes is high. 11. The holidays provided by the college is only a few days after the semester end. 12. Some teachers are not good.

Review of Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra - Patna Extension Center.
Placements: Placements for core branches are not very good. You can opt for a minor degree in computer science if you don't have any backlog in any of your semesters. System engineer, software engineer, SDE, DevOps engineer, and many other roles are offered in our college.
Infrastructure: The food served is good in our college. There is one canteen in the college. Medical facilities are satisfactory. Sports and games are well encouraged. There is a mess committee of students which decides the menu of food that has to be cooked in the mess. You can play cricket, volleyball, badminton, basketball, table tennis, or chess on campus.
Faculty: All students pass the course. The pass percentage is approximately 90%. Semester exams are achievable. You must thoroughly review your previous papers and prepare by using the books recommended by your faculty members. You must be serious right from the beginning.
Other: In our college, many festivals are conducted and the connectivity is good. The campus is small but beautiful and surroundings are well maintained.
