Candidates with a valid Bachelor's degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Engineering/Technology or having a BCA degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% aggregate for SC/ST/PwD/OBC-NCL category) from a university recognised by UGC are eligible to apply. Applications of only the eligible candidates are acceptable. Moreover, applicants must hold the mark sheets and other documents during form filling and admission confirmation. 

The university faciliate placement support to the graduates. HBTU has not released course-wise placement report as of now. However, as per a consolidates report of placement 2023, 400 students were placed. The highest package offered to the placed candidates stood at INR 36 LPA. Moreover, some of the popular recruiters were Berger Paints, Cognizant (GenC), Acceldata Technology Pvt. Ltd.

The university accept applications via online mode. Aspirants must submit their admission forms on time to become eligible for admission to the course. The step-by-step process for online HBTU MCA application form is as follows:

Step 1: Visit the HBTU official website.

Step 2: Click on ‘Admission 2023-24’.

Step 3: Click on the available online registration link and select ‘New Application’.

Step 4: Select the preferred course.

Step 5: Select the preferred school, and course and enter the Aadhar card number.

Step 7: Pay the application fee (INR 2,500 – Non-refundable) and submit the application form.

The annual academic fee for MCA is INR 1.2 lakh. After seat allotment, a candidate has to deposit the balance Annual Academic Fee i.e., INR 60,000 for General/OBC category candidates and INR 35,000 for SC/ST/EWS candidates. The fee payment can be done via online mode and should be paid within the prescribed time period. HBTU Kanpur admissions is entrance-based. Candidates need to clear the entrance exam to get a seat in the desired course. The accepted national-level entrance exams are JEE Main, NIMCET, IIT JAM, GATE, CAT, UGC NET/ CSIR NET. Moreover, the application process is online for all undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD courses. 

However, direct admission is offered in the BTech (Lateral) programmes. Eligible students can apply directly in the second year of the programme.

Harcourt Butler Technical University accepts JEE Main scores, followed by JoSAA Counselling for admission to the BTech course. In 2024, the cutoff ranged between 38255 and 89966 for BTech.

The admission procedure can vary slightly from one course to another. HBTU Kanpur admission process involves the below-mentioned steps:

STEP 1: Candidates need to register online by visiting the university official website.

STEP 2: Fill out the application form and submit it within the due date.

STEP 3: Candidates without accepted national-level exams, need to appear for the university entrance test.

STEP 4: A selection list is released for each of the course.

STEP 5: Shortlisted candidates may have to appear for group discussion and personal interview, depending upon the chosen course.

STEP 6: Seat allotment is carried out through counselling and candidates have to pay required fee for admission confirmation.

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.
