Q:   How can I get MTech admission in IIT Bombay?

A: 

IIT Bombay offers two-year MTech courses in 39 specialisations under 18 departments. Admission to the course is based on scores in GATE followed by COAP counselling. In addition, to be eligible to take the entrance test, candidates must also meet the minimum eligibility criteria. Further, aspirants can apply for GATE online by visiting the official website. Aspirants who have not qualified GATE can get admission through written test conducted by the institute. The shortlisted candidates are further called for a personal interview round.

Q:   Which exam score is accepted for IIT Bombay admissions for the M.Tech course?

A: 

IIT Bombay accepts GATE score for admission to MTech course. Candidates must have a BE/ BTech/ BSc/ Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Planning/ MSc/ MCA/ MBBS/ MPharm/ BPharma/ BDS/ degree recognised equivalent to BE/ BTech with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% aggregate for SC/ ST/ PwD category). For MTech General-All India, cut offs for GATE 2024 closed off at score 600 for MTech in Chemical Engineering and 750 for Computer Science and Engineering. Similarly, for MTech in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, the GATE score closed off on 650

Q:   What is the fee for MTech in IIT Bombay?

A: 

The total tuition fee for the MTech course ranges between INR 1.2 lakh - INR 10 lakh. Additionally, the registration fee to submit the GATE application form for boys is INR 1,700, INR 850 for girls, and INR 850 for SC/ST/PwD category students. For any more details about the course fee and payment procedure, candidates can reach out to the IIT Bombay admission office. It must be noted that the mentioned fee amount is as per the official website/sanctioning body. It is still subject to change and hence, is indicative.

Q:   What are the Round 1 GATE scores for M.Tech courses at IIT Bombay?

A: 

IIT Bombay accepts GATE scores for admisison to the MTech programmes. GATE COAP Round 1 Seat allotment result has been released and as per the cutoff list, M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering was the most competitive course. The Round 1 cutoff score for CSE is 750 for the General AII India category candidates. The least competitive course was M.Tech. in Geoexploration with a closing score of 325.

Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay is awesome.
Placements: Out of 16 students who attended placements from our course, about 14 students were placed. Core companies like Sysmex, Japanese companies, etc., visit here. There is a myriad of analytics and data science jobs, and they are also accessible. Top core roles offered here are associate, analyst, lab assistant, etc. Some students pursue PhD, etc. The average salary package offered is 12 LPA.
Infrastructure: All the departments have well-equipped labs, completely centralised Wi-Fi and well-stocked libraries. Hostel rooms are a little old, but not all. However, sports facilities, computer room, CCTV cameras in common space and all other facilities are available here. There is 24x7 security, and centralised patrolling takes place throughout the campus.
Faculty: Our college has one of the best faculty members in the country. Their teaching is primarily based on assignments, projects, videos and classroom lectures. M.Tech curriculum is industry and job oriented. You can also choose to study relevant courses from other departments. The difficulty level of exams depends on professors, but most of the exams build your thinking skills.

Q:   Is it compulsory to stay in hostel in IIT Bombay?

A: 

No, it’s not compulsory for regular scholars to stay in the hostel for studying at IIT Bombay. Also, not every student gets a hostel facility. However, students who get enrolled in summer and winter internships have to stay in a hostel during the tenure of their internship. Interns who get the hostel are required to complete the formalities such as registration, payment of internship fees, etc., with the academic office of the institute.

Q:   What rank is required to get admission in IIT Bombay?

A: 

Firstly, candidates need to secure a rank in nearly the top 2,00,000 (including all categories) students in JEE Main. Only these students get a chance to sit for JEE Advanced and become eligible for admission to IITs. In the JoSAA Counselling 2023, BTech CSE closing rank was 67, followed by Electrical Engineering at 481 and was the lowest for BTech Metallurgical Engineering and Material Sciences at 4649.
