Absolutely satisfied, a dream come true @IISc.
Placements: There is centralised Placement cell. Everyone gets placed here. The highest went around 33lpa, while average salary was 21 LPA. Roles like Data scientist, SDE, System engineer, Research jobs were there. In internship recruitment, around 20 offers were made in Slot 1, where around 6 or 7 accepted. Sometimes Project advisory does't allow to go for internship, because they have some other useful work for you in summers. The highest stipend offer was 1lac per month, by Goldman sachs, while average was 50-60k per month. These stats are as per my knowledge, not the official state from TnP cell.
Infrastructure: There's Wi-Fi in academic area 24x7, In few hostels there is Wi-Fi, while for others work is going on. Quality of labs are Excellent, powerful computers are there for you. Quality of canteen is good, clean and hygienic. Hostel rooms are good, cleanliness is taken care of everyday. Everywhere you will face some infrastructure problem, but the thing is how college manages it, in IISc all problems related to infrastructure are handled very efficiently.
Faculty: Faculty is the best in India here. They are very cooperative, and helpful. They answer every query however dumb it is. There are around 30-40 faculty members at CSA in IISc. Courses have Assignments and projects which really help to grab the concepts of subjects. Industry exposure is provided through summer internship.
Other: IISc campus if famous for its greenery, Environment is so silent, and clean. You can breathe fresh air. Campus crowd is not so big, because mainly PG students are here, UG is being offered in few departments only. Annual fests are there like Pravega. Open day is being organized every year to make outsiders aware of Science and Technology.

It is one of the best colleges.
Placements: Domestic companies offer a package of 14 LPA to 23 LPA, and less than ten companies offer above 25 LPA. Average package offered was 18 LPA. Students preferred by IT companies are in following department order, CSA, CDS, electrical department, mathematics and science. Placements happen from October to November season. People are least bothered about placements, because of research focus. Placement is by the product of laborious study.
Infrastructure: IISc posses supercomputer CRAY XC40. IBM blue supercluster for grid computing is provided. Only, game theory lab is there in the country. There is a good library. Tata book house is available. There are four canteens. Ample greenery is present. Internal pay and use cycle service are available. Mini market and juice centre is available in the centre of the hostel complex.
Faculty: The faculty are PhD scholars from top 20 foreign universities in all disciplines. Most of the faculty members have teaching experience of 10+ years. The course is more research oriented. Assignments are challenging and will eat up complete week. Each subject is having a different pattern of exams, decided by the instructor.
Other: Pravega and open day, are well-known events of IISc. Campus crowd is dominated by Bengalis and Tamil guys. The campus is adjacent to Yeshwanthpur bus stand. The campus is surrounded by markets, food streets and Ramaiah hospital. Most of the scholarships are MHRD or UGC funded. But private companies do sponsor many labs for research. There are clubs for cycling, musical instruments, photography, astronomy etc.

Yes sure. All you need to do is cracking and ranking very good in GATE(cse). But I will suggest that it will be better if you can continue with mechanical engineering in M. E. because your plan of suddenly switching your stream from core to noncore might backfire .
