IIIT Bangalore and NIT Trichy both offer admission to the M.Tech course on the basis of a valid GATE score, followed by a GATE Counselling process. Talking about the 2023 last-round cutoff, the closing rank for M.Tech in CSE was 480 at IIIT Bangalore. For NIT Trichy, the last round closing score was 637 for the same course and specialisation. The technology institute offers four M.Tech courses. IIIT Bangalore offers two-year M.Tech courses in Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering specialisation. Moreover, two five-year integrated M.Tech courses are offered in the same specialisation. The fee and seat intake for all the courses vary. Admission to the M.Tech (two-year) programmes is based on merit in the GATE exam followed by counselling.

MTech is one of the popular courses of IIIT Bangalore. The institute has been ranked at 74 under the 'Engineering' category in 2024 NIRF rankings for its Engineering courses. Talking about placements, the institute offered a highest package of INR 65 LPA to MTech CSE and INR 39.3 LPA to MTech ECE students. The average package offered to CSE and ECE students was INR 21.8 LPA and INR 29.2 LPA, respectively.

The answer to this question depends on the course applied by the candidate. JEE Main is necessary if the aspirant is applying for BTech programme. For all other courses, candidates do not require JEE Main score. Mere qualifying JEE Main does not guarantee admission in the BTech programme of IIIT Bangalore. Candidates also need to fulfil the eligibility requirement specific to BTech course for admission.

Aspirants shall first check that they meet the minimum eligibility criteria. To be eligible, aspirant shall have a valid BSc or equivalent degree from a recognised university.
