A:
{Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for BE/BTech Courses at MAKAUT

Based on reviews from students and alumni, here's an overview of the effectiveness of the placement cell for BE/BTech courses at MAKAUT:

* Placement Record: The placement record varies, with some students reporting successful placements and others mentioning difficulties in finding suitable jobs. Some reviewers mention that only a few companies visit the campus, resulting in limited placement opportunities.

* Salary Packages: Salary packages range from INR3.6 LPA to INR19 LPA, with an average package of around INR5 LPA to INR6 LPA. However, some top recruiters offer higher packages, up to INR30 LPA.

* Company Visits: Major IT companies like Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, and Wipro visit the campus, offering roles in software development, systems engineering, and digital specialization.

* Internship Opportunities: Unfortunately, MAKAUT does not provide internship opportunities, leaving students to fend for themselves.

* Training and Placement Officer: Reviewers express mixed views about the Training and Placement Officer, citing both inefficiency and lack of communication, making it challenging for students to secure placements.

* Student Responsibility: Ultimately, students bear significant responsibility for securing their own placements, with many relying on self-study and individual efforts to achieve their career goals.

B.Tech. in Computer Science and Business System - Batch of 2028
Offered by Techno Main Salt Lake

It provides great infrastructure and facilities. But faculty members need improvement.
Placements: In my course, Computer Science and Business Systems (CSBS), around 85% of students were placed in various companies by the end of the final year. The highest salary package offered was around 10 LPA - 12 LPA. The lowest salary package offered was about 3 LPA - 4 LPA. The average salary package offered ranges from 5 LPA - 6 LPA. Some of the top recruiting companies for our course include TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro, and Accenture. Around 70-75% of students secured internships in companies like Amazon, Deloitte, Capgemini, and Wipro. Top roles offered to our batch are software developer, system analyst, data analyst, and business analyst.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure for Computer Science and Business Systems (CSBS) course at Techno Main Salt Lake is well-equipped with modern classrooms, and projectors. Classrooms are clean, but I feel the space could be more spacious. There is no hostel for students and they have to go for private PG.
Faculty: The teaching quality is good overall, with a mix of lectures, practical sessions, and assignments. However, some students feel the curriculum could include more hands-on experience and exposure to newer technologies to be more industry-ready. The course curriculum is relevant. But there is a need for more updates as syllabus does not match with the course.
Other: The campus is lively during events and fests, especially the annual Techno Fiesta and Edge, which bring a great crowd together. The campus surroundings are peaceful. But there is limited nightlife unless there is an event. Connectivity is good with local transport.

Our college wellness and greenery.
Placements: Our college has an 80% placement record. Around 30-40% of students got placed in top companies like TCS, Deloitte, Wipro, Accenture, etc. The highest salary package offered is around 9 LPA - 10 LPA. The rest could get a salary package of around 3 LPA - 4 LPA. TCS, Accenture, and Infosys are top recruiting companies.
Infrastructure: Our college has well-maintained infrastructure. We have a big ground in the center of the college. There is a separate sports ground which is also inside the campus. Our college supports greenery. It has many beautiful plants and flowers in the garden. Our college also provides a hostel facility with Wi-Fi.
Faculty: Our teachers are good and helpful. They help us to complete the syllabus. They are kind. The college curriculum is good. They teach us the things that will help us in real life. We have one end-semester and mid-semester. The difficulty level of exams is not so high.

Review of Guru Nanak Institute of Technology.
Placements: On average, 20% of students are placed here every year but the college authority says that in our college, they give 90% placement for advertisements, but this is not fully true. The highest package on campus is 6.5 LPA. The lowest package is 2.5 LPA. The average package is 4.5 LPA. In the past few years, there have been no company visits to our college for my courses. Students get internships on campus in software service and product-based companies but not in a core company. Network developer is the top role offered.
Infrastructure: Faculty members are helpful and friendly with most of the students mostly departmental faculty but beside this, there are a few more faculty who cannot help the students and they are doing very unfair to the students. In the hostel, food quality is average but the campus of this college is one of the finest.
Faculty: Yes, teachers are helpful; they are highly educated and their teaching quality is below average. The semester exam at this college is quite easy and the pass percentage is 90%. Few teachers are sweet. This course curriculum is not bad .
Other: The department and faculty members are good. In terms of culture and sports, our college is the best.

It is good for textile engineering. It is the best college of West Bengal for textile technology.
Placements: Placements in the Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology are pretty good for textile apparel branch students. Almost all students in this branch are placed through on-campus placement. It provides pretty good internships for students.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology, Serampore is not so good, but adjustable. Buildings of this college are very old. Labs are just okay. Hostels are available but the capacity is too small.
Faculty: Teachers are very much qualified. Almost all are PhD holders. They all are very helpful. We can easily understand the core parts of engineering by their lectures. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes the students industry-ready for textile companies. The semester exam level is as usual. The passing mark out of 100 is 40.
Other: The placement is good enough for the textile and Apparel Production course. All things are average not so bad here.

Haldia Institute of Technology.
Placements: While placements aren't exceptional, they are not dismissals either. On the first day, our course professors assured us that if we attended classes diligently and followed the curriculum, a job would be guaranteed. However, the salary package is too low in that case. To secure a more competitive salary, students must go beyond the classroom and put in significant extra effort on their own. In conclusion, while not comparable to top colleges like IITs or NITs, the ROI is solid. I am giving 4 stars for good ROI.
Infrastructure: Hostels have high-speed Wi-Fi, but there is no wide campus. Wi-Fi and mobile network coverage is poor. The best 5g speed we got is 60 Mbps, but switching to Jio works better. They are adding a 4th floor to the building, which you will notice upon arrival. Overall, the infrastructure is good with ample grounds for sports. Hostels offer indoor and outdoor games like chess, table tennis, cricket, football, and carrom with hostel-level tournaments. The library is huge with books for even UPSC, SSC, M. Tech, and more. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items are available daily in hostels.
Faculty: Our faculty members are helpful and accessible via call or WhatsApp for doubts. They are knowledgeable with many holding PhDs from USA, Israel, and Germany. The curriculum is designed to help secure a 5 LPA job. Semesters are relatively easy, with almost everyone passing.
Other: For first-year students, there is Ranichak Hostel. It has the best food and keeps you out of everyone's range.

The JGEC Diary ( The good and bad side of a Tier 3 college).
Placements: In this academic year 2023-2024, 60% of final-year students are placed. The highest package is 60 LPA from Computer Science and Engineering. The lowest package is 3.6 LPA. The top recruiters are Atlassian, WTW, Knorex, Microsoft, Hexaware, L&T, etc. Ninety percent of students got internships from our college. The top roles offered in our course are Software Development Engineer.
Infrastructure: The hostel infrastructure is not too good, but they provide us with a LAN connection for the internet. In the hostel, they provide two meals a day; there is no breakfast. In front of our hostel, there are various playgrounds like football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, etc.
Faculty: In our college, some faculty members are good, but the majority are below average. Most of our faculty members completed their degrees from tier 2 or tier 3 colleges. In this course, the curriculum is mostly irrelevant. They don't prepare students to work in the industry. The difficulty level of semester exams is medium, and the pass percentage is 95.
Other: I chose this course as I didn't get a chance in NIT/IIT. The best thing about our course is that after graduation, you can either enter the IT sector or the Core sector. I hope that our college will provide good quality placements in both sectors. There are two main fests, one is the Cultural fest, and the other is the Technical fest. The Cultural fest is named JECLET, and it is the biggest fest in North Bengal.

MAKAUT offers a moderately busy campus life with a mix of academic and extracurricular activities. The dress code is flexible, and students have access to multiple sports facilities and a well-stocked library. The college has a hygienic mess food system and a fair attendance policy. Academically, the college follows a textbook-based teaching methodology with easy exam preparation and a well-maintained library. The campus is secure with guards and CCTV cameras present, but outsiders cannot enter without permission. Based on the reviews provided, the overall infrastructure of the college appears to be very good and modern. All reviewers mention that the classrooms are clean and equipped with modern technology such as projectors, whiteboards and e-learning facilities. The campuses have free Wi-Fi and dedicated labs for each course, providing students with ample resources for their studies. Additionally, there are libraries, canteens and sports facilities available within the campus. The hostels are also well-maintained, with comfortable seating arrangements and good food options. Overall, the infrastructure of the college seems to be conducive to learning and provides a comfortable living environment for students.

Summary: The infrastructure of the college is excellent, with modern facilities, free Wi-Fi and dedicated labs for each course. The hostels are well-maintained, but some students may find the triple sharing of rooms to be inconvenient.
