Q:   Is B.Tech at JIS College of Engineering better than Jadavpur University?

A:

Jadavpur University:

  • Renowned Institution: Nationally acclaimed for its engineering education, boasts a strong alumni network and industry recognition.
  • Rigorous Curriculum: Demanding coursework, experienced faculty, and emphasis on research foster exceptional academic growth.
  • Highly Competitive: Entrance exams require exceptional scores, making the student body academically strong.
  • Limited Infrastructure: Campus facilities and resources might not be as modern compared to newer institutions.

JIS College of Engineering:

  • Modern Infrastructure: Newer institute with well-equipped labs, advanced facilities, and tech-integrated learning environment.
  • Placement Focus: Strong industry collaborations and dedicated placement cell lead to good job opportunities.
  • Lower Fees: Tuition fees are significantly lower than Jadavpur University.
  • Less Competitive: Admission criteria might be less stringent, potentially offering wider accessibility.

Choosing between them depends on your priorities. If academic excellence and rigor are paramount, Jadavpur University shines. If modern facilities, job prospects, and affordability matter more, JIS College could be a good fit. Ultimately, research both institutions thoroughly, consider your academic potential, and make an informed decision based on your priorities and aspirations.

Infrastructure: In JIS College of Engineering, labs are good, with some labs having new 7th-generation processors and projectors. Canteen and hostel facilities are available.
Faculty: In the Computer Science Engineering department of JIS College of Engineering, faculty are good and helpful. All are well-qualified, with qualifications like M.Tech and Ph.D. The course curriculum is relevant and aligned with AICTE standards. The exam pattern is average and quite tough.

Best College in B.Tech.
Placements: In the recent placement season, JIS College of Engineering achieved an impressive placement rate of over 70%, with top recruiters including well-known names in IT, finance, consulting, and manufacturing sectors. The highest salary package reached an impressive figure of INR 20 LPA, while the average package hovered around INR 4 LPA, making it a competitive institution in the region.
Infrastructure: The hostel facilities at JIS College of Engineering provide a comfortable and supportive living environment for students. Located conveniently close to academic buildings, the hostel saves computing time and makes campus life easier for residents. Rooms are well-furnished, typically with options for single, double, or triple occupancy, allowing students to choose accommodation based on their preference and budget. Each room is equipped with basic furniture such as beds, desks, wardrobes, and a shared bathroom, all maintained with regular housekeeping services.
Faculty: JIS College of Engineering's curriculum is well-structured, updated regularly to meet industry standards, and supplemented with guest lectures and seminars from experts across various fields. Satisfied with the curriculum but the facility.
Placements: I'm from B.Tech CSE currently in the first year. This year, only 18 percent of students got placed. The highest was 7 LPA and the lowest was 1.3 LPA. Mostly mass recruiters come like TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, etc. Big companies like Google or Microsoft are a dream for college students.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is pretty good. They provide flipped class learning. There are Wi-Fi labs and libraries. The quality of food in the hostel is not so good. Sports and games are decent. Fests are also held. Two fests — cultural fest and tech fest — happen here. They are pretty good.
Faculty: The course curriculum is one reason I joined this college. The passing percentage is 6 CGPA. There is no internship facility provided by the college. Placement is also not so good. Average placement is still lower than the whole college feels. You should not think about placement if you are joining this college.
Other: This college is not doing so well. They increase fees without prior information. Student voice is not valued here. The management is everything here.

Very satisfied by the faculty, infrastructure, good placements in 2024, and also the facilities.
Placements: In our department (B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering) last year, 85% to 90% students got placed in various top MNC companies like Accenture, Cognizant, Wipro, Infosys, and TCS, with an average package of 9 to 10 LPA and the highest package of 25 LPA. Also, about 90% of students from the CSE department get internships in various companies every year.
Infrastructure: In our CSE department, all the labs are Wi-Fi enabled and air-conditioned. Also, all the classrooms are neat and clean with proper ventilation. We also have a fully air-conditioned departmental library. The hostel of our college is super clean. The quality of food available in our hostel is very good and hygienic. Also, great medical facilities are available here.
Faculty: The faculty of our CSE department are very helpful, and also the faculty of all the departments are very helpful. Our college has a special teaching facility called flip classes, where all the students get individual guidance from our faculty members. Also, the course curriculum is very relevant, and they make the students industry-ready. The semester exams in the college are not so difficult. The pass percentage is 99%.

Truth is what I am showing you.
Placements: I am in my third year. Till now, I don't have any exact information on how many students get placed in our department at our college. I have some senior friends who told me that almost 20% of students have been placed till now. I am also hoping for a good placement.
Infrastructure: The hostel is not good from my point of view. Very little maintenance is done by the authority of the college. There is Wi-Fi everywhere in college. And labs are also in a good environment and are very well maintained. Classrooms are almost okay.
Faculty: There are a lot of teachers who have good knowledge of their respected subjects. But there is not much maintained curriculum. The curriculum always fluctuates. But some teachers are very punctual about their course and syllabus. I would rather say IT has better teachers.
Other: I chose the college because it is very close to my house. I had taken a drop and my friends are also in this college. So to avoid the daily crowded travel, I chose this college.
