DSNLU Highlights 2025
Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University, also NLU Visakhapatnam or DSNLU, is one of the NLUs in India. It was established in 2008 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in Visakhapatnam, under the DSNLU Act, 2008. It was first named as “Andhra Pradesh of University Law” which was later changed to “Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University” in 2012. It is a state-level university that is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). In 2019, it was ranked 18 among all NLUs by the CLAT cut off. Presently, the University offers BA LLB (Hons), LLM, PhD, LLD and PG diploma programmes under various specialisations of Law. All the courses offered by the University are approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI). Apart from the regular classes, the University also conducts moot court competitions for its students. Currently, it has more than 20 visiting and permanent faculty members.

DSNLU cutoff 2024 for the LL.M. in Criminal Law is based on CLAT scores followed by the CLAT counselling. As of now, CNLU has released CLAT Round 3 Seat Allotment results for DSNLU. The closing rank for CLAT 2024 Round 3 has not been released for the General category All India candidates.

At present, the University offers five basic courses, namely BA LLB (Hons), LLM, PhD, LLD and PG diploma under several specialisations of Law. The duration of BA LLB (Hons) is five years, whereas LLM is a full-time one-year programme offered at the PG level. The minimum duration of PhD and LLD programmes is three years each, on the other hand, the maximum duration of both the programmes is six years each. Apart from the degree courses, the University also offers PG diploma programmes in collaboration with Centurion University of Technology and Management, Odisha. Candidates looking forward to practising law in India, are required to clear the All India Bar Exam (AIBE) that is conducted by BCI. On clearing the AIBE exam, lawyers are awarded a ‘Certificate of Practice’ which is mandatory for practising the profession as an advocate in India. The one-year LL.M. programs in Constitutional Law, Commercial Law, and Criminal Law are available at Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU).
