Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   Which entrance do I need to clear to get admission to SASTRA Deemed University for BTech?

A:

At the undergraduate level, this deemed University offers BTech across 30 specialisations along with Integrated MTech across two specialisations. Spread over four years and eight semesters, admission to BTech is possible at SASTRA Deemed University via two methods:

Stream 1: JEE Mains + Class 12 marks (50% weightage given to each), for admission to 50% of the total seats

Stream 2: Class 12 marks (100% weightage), for admission to the remaining 50%

The following qualifications must be met by the students to secure admission to BTech at Sastra:

  • Candidates must have obtained 60% aggregate in their Class 12 with Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science, and Biology from a recognised board.
  • Taken JEE Main exam

Q:   I got 79 percentile in JEE Mains and 66% in Class 12. Will I get admission to Sastra University, Thanjavur?

A:

Based on the information you've provided, your JEE Mains percentile of 79 is decent and could be a competitive score for admission to Sastra University, Thanjavur. However, your class 12 percentage of 66% might be slightly below the usual cutoff for some courses at the university. To increase your chances of admission, I recommend checking Sastra University's official website or contacting their admission department for the specific cutoff scores and eligibility criteria for the course you are interested in.

Sastra University is known for its competitive admission process, and the cutoff marks can vary each year. It's essential to have a clear understanding of the admission requirements and eligibility criteria to make an informed decision.

In case your JEE Mains percentile meets or exceeds the cutoff set by Sastra University for your desired course, you stand a good chance of getting admission. However, if the cutoff is higher, you may consider other options or explore different courses that align with your JEE Mains score and class 12 percentage.

Remember, admissions to universities can be competitive, and it's always a good idea to have backup options. There are many other reputable institutions that offer quality education in engineering and other fields. Research thoroughly, consider all available choices, and apply to multiple universities to increase your chances of getting accepted.

I wish you the best of luck with your admission process, and I hope you find the right university and course that aligns with your academic goals and aspirations!"

College is okay Its not what I think.
Placements: 70% of students were getting placed in bioinformatics courses. The highest LPA is 18lpa, the lowest LPA is 3.5lpa, and the average LPA is 7lpa. 40% of students got internships from my program in reputed companies in biofields. In the sastra bio course also, many projects were done.
Infrastructure: Facilities are we have a library for all branches. Each dept has a building for bio. There is Jeeva Chaitanya (JVC) Wi-Fi only for laptops. The classrooms are good Facilities in the hostel are not up to the mark, but it's okay Canteen is also there, but it's up to a max of 7 pm.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. Some are from NIT and come from universities. The quality of teaching is good. The relevance of the curriculum is that students must be interested in the study, and it prepares them for placement ready to be in industries.
Other: I was allotted for this course.

It is the best college for engineering in Tamilnadu.
Placements: Among 90% of the students got placed in the campus interviews this year. The highest salary package offered is 29 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered is 3 LPA. Top companies like PayPal, Amazon, TCS and most of the top companies are recruiting in our college. From 3rd year, students are offered internships.
Infrastructure: Our college has the best infrastructure. Labs facilities are excellent, and we also have research centres named Ask 1 and Ask 2. Classrooms are neat and clean, and most of the classrooms have smart class facilities. Free Wi-Fi is given for our laptop. The hostel is good but not that good. Mess food is average, but medical facilities are good at our college.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and knowledgeable. They are always available for clarifying our doubts at any time, and they are friendly. All are well-experienced staff members, and they guide you on the right path. The course curriculum is new and updated. Overall, our college is the best.

The college is having great placements, mostly beneficial to the computer Science background.
Placements: About more than 75 percentage of the our branch students are placed in different companies namely it, core, non-technical. The highest package was tcs r&d where it will offer more than 10 lakhs pa it is core and other company ziffo which is offering 4.25 lpa, it's also one the company which offer decent package for core. About 2 percentage got intern in the core.
Infrastructure: Good facilities are there for our branch Wi-Fi and digital classrooms and there is a separate library for our department and also other fully equipped laboratories. The food is below average and hostel has gym and very minimal games and has small ground, canteen is fine not good or not bad can survive with canteens.
Faculty: The faculty are really good they have great knowledge on the subject. The teaching quality was great. Our course is emerging field, it has lot of scope in the future and now a days and its great course, can learn new things. Yes it can make people ready for industry.
Other: First to choose, this course was no choice but after coming to the department I changed my mind and the subjects become quite interesting and started understanding the subject properly. Can improve more including more programing languages. There are so many fellowships and workshops and technical fest for our course.

Sastra university provides good placements and hi-tech lab facility.
Placements: Sastra has made a world record by surpassing its previously set record of the highest placements offers in a single campus. The highest salary package offered is 28.5 LPA. The average salary package offered is 8 LPA. Students get internship offers from TCS, Biocon etc.
Infrastructure: The mess is manageable and serves only pure vegetarian. Snacks are provided every day. Canteens also serve only rich vegetarian foods. The library is equipped for student needs. Sastra has the best institutional laboratories in the south of Tamil Nadu.
Faculty: The course is aimed for better learning and work-oriented. Teachers in our college are highly equipped and very knowledgeable. However, the traditional process of student listening and teacher teaching continues. Teachers are very helpful in guiding the students who have an interest in their career.
Other: I liked to do research, and hence I choose this course.

Build yourself with SASTRA!
Placements: The Placement Cell of our college is one of the most dedicated department. They work very hard to convince companies and get students placed. Starting from private to nationalized banks, from top notch companies like PayPal and Amazon, plenty of companies came forward to recruit in the campus for intern and full time as well. Also, the companies recruit both for software developer and non-technology roles like marketing, sales and writing. We had companies with packages ranging from 30 LPA to 3 LPA. But, on a comparison, the recruitment was less in our batch over the seniors.
Infrastructure: The college campus will be awe-inspiring where each department will have stunning architectural design and construction. There are two separate huge blocks for research purposes that has hi-tech facilities and is considered to be on the top among Asian universities. The campus gets more funds for its outstanding researches and discoveries from all the departments, specially biotechnology and bioinformatics. The classrooms and labs are maintained very well and needs a special mention. And there are 3 to 4 canteens where you can find variety of cuisines in vegetarian. I have not been to hostel but then I have heard from friends that the rooms have bugs and it is not up to the mark. Life at SASTRA will be so much of fun and more than something to take for a lifetime.
Faculty: There are experts and there are professors in SASTRA. The university is well resourced with staffs holding very strong research foundation, doctorate degrees with updated knowledge. They will never make us feel that they are our mentors and acknowledge us as friends. They will help us out in projects and studies as well and the curriculum is well planned with changes happening every 4 years by updating the syllabus and subjects.
Other: The biggest events will happen in the campus like Kuruksastra, Daksh and the sport event. It is quite famous for inviting top notch celebrities and entertain the students. There will be a huge crowd from outside as well for these culturals. Around 100 colleges will participate and make the fest much colorful.

You can appear for stream 2 and there is a chance of getting bioinfo . Try upto 3rd counselling even if you didn't get that in 1st or 2nd. It's totally based on how many candidates applied . There will be only 60 seats for bioinfo
