Calicut University Admission 2023: BA
University of Calicut offers three-year BA programme in the field of Arts at UG level. Available across 38 specialisations, admission to all BA courses is offered on the basis of merit in Class 12. Across all these specialisations, a concession of 5% is given to OBC/OEC candidates and the SC/ST candidates are only required to pass. The atmosphere of the campus will help you forget about all your problems.
Placements: Placements in our college where less than compared to others as ours is an Arts and Science college with not much job orientation. Job based courses were not available at pur college. Those who have completed the course with good marks have been recruited from outside campus.
Infrastructure: Each department had their own block with Wi-Fi and classrooms. Separate hostels for each year has been provided. The food is vegetarian but still digestible. No non-veg. It is strictly prohibited. Not even egg is prepared in the hostels and college canteen.
Faculty: The teachers are qualified and knowledgeable. They are very helpful in clearing doubts and queries. The course curriculum provided is very relevant. The semester exams increase in difficult as the semesters go by. But those who attend the classes regularly can easily clear the exams.
Other: The college is well rounded in extracurricular activities focusing on arts and sports mostly. The sports team of the college have reached the nationals. Many artist have passed out from our college including a Best Child Actors and many well known Malayalam movie Directors and Writers.

Placements: There are no official statistics on the percentage of students placed in the English Literature course. Most students pursue a Master's degree or prepare for government exams after graduation. Recruitment opportunities include roles like Sales Executive in Suzuki Showroom and IELTS Trainer at Study Abroad Agencies, though the packages offered are not disclosed. Internships are available but only for those who apply and are selected. Common roles include Sales Executive, IELTS Trainer, and Content Writer.
Infrastructure: The campus features a well-stocked library with thousands of books, magazines, daily newspapers, and articles, along with a digital library equipped with Wi-Fi. Most classrooms are smart classrooms, featuring projectors or TVs. The hostel is clean and offers decent food. A gym is available, along with sports facilities like a basketball court, tennis court, and cricket ground.
Faculty: The faculty members are highly qualified, having completed their graduation and Master's degrees from prestigious central universities in India. Many hold Ph.D. degrees and have cleared the NET examination. Teachers assist students in preparing for central university entrance exams for postgraduation and provide insights about fellowships and research programs. However, the course curriculum is outdated and does not align with current industry demands. Semester exams are of medium difficulty, with a pass percentage of 35%.
Other: I chose English Literature because of my love for reading and exploring literary works. The course involves an extensive study of fiction and novels from various periods, though the inclusion of more contemporary works would enhance its relevance. Sports and cultural events such as basketball and tennis tournaments, music events, debates, and extempore competitions are organized. The campus is green and well-maintained. Scholarships, including Central Sector and E-Grantz, are provided to eligible students.

The future of students life
Placements: The cost of the college is around 6000 per year and if anyone selected course they will get an good job in translation in arabic and english languages and some companies are arrives the college to interview the skills of the students for job opportunities
Infrastructure: The college is good in sports like football and badminton tennis there are arrives some tournament on university level. And the library of the college is such a biggest one and there so many helpful books but the hostel food is too bad and toilet bathrooms is very ugly and cleanless
Faculty: The some teachers and very friendly and they very serious about our studies but there are some teachers they have knowledge but they don't know that how to teach the students this course will make you perfect in arabic literature the semester exam are just okey
Other: This college is perfect and eco friendly and this course will be simple for those students who are ready to some hardworking and dedication this college have nothing festival like arts college this an arabic college so there are some rules and the seriousness should be improved it I will more helpful for students

Really good infrastructure and facilities. Good atmosphere.
Placements: It is a self-financed college. You can take admission here either through management or merit-based quotas. I don't know about placement because I study sociology, and we don't have placements. But placements are provided for courses like BCA. All the staff and teachers in our college are well-qualified.
Infrastructure: All the teachers in our department are well-qualified. Our HOD has a Ph.D. The food in our college canteen is very clean and healthy. Hostels and PGs are available near our college. There is a hospital next to the college. Kabaddi is taught in our college. We have won many prizes.
Faculty: The teachers in our college are well-qualified and very friendly. Their teaching style is also very friendly. Yes, it will make the students industry-ready. Exams are conducted strictly. The exam questions are such that you can get good marks if you study. The teachers' way of teaching helps you to understand a subject quickly and get interested in it. They teach every topic with many examples, which is very useful for understanding.
Other: I like to study sociology very much. Generally, sociology is offered less in government colleges, so that's why I chose this college. Sociology helps us understand society in a scientific way. All the events and fests held in the college are cool. The atmosphere in the college is very good. The plants and trees in the college give a special beauty to it.

Excellent faculty and good placement with great infrastructure and academics.
Placements: After completing the course, 60% of the students have been placed in jobs. All students were given the opportunity to intern at various colleges and schools as teachers. Some students were given the opportunity to intern as academic coordinators. Many students enrolled for higher studies at different colleges in India and abroad.
Infrastructure: The college provides Wi-Fi, library, and laboratory facilities for computer science and psychology students. The Wi-Fi network is good, and the laboratory is well-equipped and efficient. All classrooms are equipped with projectors, and smart class facilities are available in all classrooms.
Faculty: The course curriculum at this college is highly relevant and makes the students industry ready. The semester system is challenging, but with the help of the library and teachers, all students can achieve high scores. In fact, 99% of the students pass. The majority of the teachers are NET qualified, which ensures very excellent teaching quality.
Other: I chose this course because of my love of literature. The campus provides scholarships for students with financial need and those with high academic achievement. The campus environment is peaceful, with trees and natural greenery all around.

Placements: I can surely say that neither I nor any of my colleagues, which consist of 60 students, my seniors, and juniors, have received any placement assistance. They aren't providing any placements.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of my college is one of the things I like. The college has a well-spaced library and a theater hall. Additionally, every department has its own block. The ambiance is excellent, and there are hostels for girls and sports students. There is also a cafeteria and a store.
Faculty: The facilities there are excellent in teaching and helping us with our studies. The curriculum provided by the course is comfortable and easy to learn. Semester exams are quite good, and the pass percentage is 42%. They provide impressive complementary courses.
Other: Areas that needs to improve are the events, and extracurricular activities.

Yes, Calicut University allows its students to re-take semester examinations if they are not happy with the score they have attained and want to improve their final marks. The improvement examinations happen after the announcement of the results of each semester.
