The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, most commonly known as UPES, is spread across a sprawling area of 44 acres. Currently, the university offers admission to various programmes at the undergraduate, postgraduate, professional, and doctoral levels. It is one of the best private universities in Uttarakhand and the country, particularly for engineering and management courses. For 2022, the average package offered was INR 8.37 LPA. The highest package offered in 2022 was INR 50 LPA, with more than 690 recruiters coming for the placement activities. The university has two campuses, which are situated in Bidholi and Kandoli in the Dehradun district.
UPES Library
The library building of the university, which is situated at Bidholi Campus, is spread across a huge area of 22465 sq. ft., and another library for the School of Law (SOL) is close to 5000 sq. ft. in area. The university also has a separate library for the School of Business (SOB), which is about 6500 sq. ft. The library is centrally air-conditioned and has designated areas for different sections, providing the right and required ambience for reading. UPES Laboratories:
Laboratories play an important role in understanding any concept much more easily and in a detailed manner. Each department has its own laboratories as per the course curriculum and requirements. UPES has around 120 labs across all engineering schools and departments, which help students and faculty in academics and research fields.
Q: How is the overall infrastructure of School of Modern Media?
The School of Modern Media has a moderately busy calendar with 1-3 monthly events, and students have access to multiple sports grounds and coaching. The dress code is flexible, and students can wear whatever they want. However, there are restrictions on the timing of outside movements for girl students. The mess food is of acceptable quality and variety, and the mess and cooking arrangements are hygienic. The attendance policy is strict, and incomplete attendance may result in penalties. The college culture is inclusive, and students don't face any discrimination. There are designated teachers and student representatives available for support, and the academic schedule is moderate with around 5-15 lectures per week. Exams and tests are held semesterly, and students have to study throughout the year to score well. The teaching methodology includes regular fairs, talks, and workshops to enhance learning, and practical discussions around case studies take place frequently. The college has a well-stocked library and provides research and reading resources to students. Security measures include guards and CCTV cameras, and outsiders cannot enter the campus unchecked. The college takes ragging seriously and may rusticate students found guilty.

Q: How is the infrastructure of UPES Dehradun?
UPES Transportation Facilility:
Every Saturday, the university provides a bus service to Dehradun for all students who are staying on campus.
UPES Hostel Facility:
The university allows separate hostels for both girls and boys on a shared basis. The hostel facility is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested students can also opt for air-conditioned rooms if they want. All of the rooms are spacious and can accommodate one, two, or three beds, depending on your needs. All the hostels are fully furnished with basic indoor facilities like a TV lounge, and options for playing chess, carom, etc. so that students feel connected with one another. All those who opt for the hostel will also have to submit a refundable deposit of INR 10,000 as security. The hostel fee for the current academic session on a triple-sharing basis is as follows:
- Regular hostel: INR 1,80,000 for boys and girls on the campuses of Bidholi and Kandoli.
- Hostels with additional facilities
- Attached washroom: INR 1,90,000/- (only for girls at the Kandoli Campus).
- Attached washroom and air conditioning: INR 2,10,000 (only for girls)
UPES Student Committee and its Associations with the Campus:
- Sports Wing: This wing is mainly responsible for promoting various sports activities among students and encouraging them to participate in a variety of games and sports that are organised on a regular basis at the university campus.
- Cultural Wing: This wing basically organises various dances and other cultural activities, which are important for the overall development of students in today’s world. The committee organises signature events such as Uurja and Ignite annually.
- Student Discipline Committee at the campus: This is one of the most important and interesting committees of the university. The students in this committee act as student volunteers to manage and maintain decorum during various events and functions that are organised at the university level. The student committees also ensure that a proper code of conduct is followed inside the campus premises.
Moot Court: This attribute comes under the School of Law's moot court, which is basically a replica of a real court where trials and proceedings take place. The main motive of it is to provide practical knowledge to the students through these trials. Moot court.
