Over 6,500 offers made during placement drive at SRM Institute of Science and Technology

Beating last year’s impressive count of 3,020 offers from the big four IT companies (TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro), SRM IST - SRM Institute of Science and Technology has set a new benchmark of making 4,749 offers to the students of 2020 batch. In the 2019-20 placement drive held at SRM institute that started on July 22, over 600 companies have participated and over 6,514 offers have been floated to the students so far. Many more companies are expected to visit campus for this placement season that is likely to end in March 2020.

Of the many offers floated, Microsoft offered the highest package of Rs 41.6 LPA this year. Some of the top recruiters this year include Amazon (18 offers of Rs 32 lakh per annum), Barclays (25 offers of Rs 10 lakh per annum) and startup Udaan (4 offers of Rs 30 lakh per annum). Organisations like Veritas and Pay Pal made internship-linked placement offers.

At the conclusion of ‘Day One’ processes, TCS made 1,437 offers (‘Ninja Track’), Infosys 1,315 offers, Cognizant 1,175 offers, and Wipro made 822 offers. Apart from this, TCS had made 183 offers under ‘Digital Track’ (Rs 7 lakh per annum), said Director, Career Centre at SRMIST, Sriram S Padmanabhan.  This is the highest number of offers made by these four companies in any single campus in the country, he said.

Students from other SRM campuses such as Modinagar, Ramapuram and Vadapalani also participated in this cenralised placement process organised Kattankulathur.

Over 1210 students have been offered more than Rs.5 LPA so far. Students are also recruited by companies from the Core Engineering sector.

Padmanabhan said top companies are drawn to the SRM Campus due to the cosmopolitan composition of the students. “We arrange mock interviews and impart advanced computing skills to students as they prepare for the placement season,” he added.

The SRM Institute of Science and Technology is located at Kattankulathur, about 35 km from Chennai. The 250-acre campus, home to over 20,000 students from all over the country and abroad, has state-of-the-art laboratories for engineering and technology students, a full-fledged medical college, hospital and research centre beside a School of Public Health which is a nodal centre for implanting the National Family Health Survey in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
