B.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering - Batch of 2025

The college has average infrastructure and great placements.
Placements: Around 10% of placements are provided in aerospace. Most of the placements are off-campus because most of the core companies are government ones, and they do not come to college for placements. Students prefer to do higher studies, and if you really want to do something in this field, you definitely have to go the UK or US.
Infrastructure: The college lacks a lot of facilities, and the mess food is way too bad. Sometimes, there are cockroaches found in the food, so I would suggest you get some tiffin service or some other source. The washrooms here are not good, even though in some hostels, they are quite well maintained. The one in our hostel is quite bad.
Faculty: The faculty members are very supportive, and the teachers are quite good. Some of the teachers are a bit strict and do not give good marks. They do not take lectures seriously, but specifically in my branch, the teaching quality is very good. They are extremely well-educated, and they know what they are teaching.

It is one of the few government aerospace engineering colleges in India.
Placements: Now the placements of aerospace engineering are very limited not only in PEC but also overall in all engineering colleges in India. The average salary package offered is 7.4 LPA. Airbus was the top recruiter here. About 85%-95% of students get internships in the 6th semester, which is mandatory. Students got placed in Airbus Aerospace.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is good here. Labs for aerospace are not very good, and they have all things you want. But lighting is poor, and old wooden log tables make it feel very old. The library is amazing. Hostel rooms are very small, and the food served in the mess gets average to awful as per the time. Sports facilities are just amazing. There are 4 basketball fields, a separate cricket and football field and multiple badminton courts.
Faculty: Teachers here are very helpful, except for a few teachers. The teaching quality is good. The new course curriculum is in accordance with the new education policy and is good, but the workload is high in the 2nd year. End-semester exams are not hard, and it depends on your study. If you study, it's easy and else not.
Other: The first thing about our batch is it has more than 50% of students who chose aerospace by choice. So the interest for students is increasing in aerospace engineering. The course can be more experimental than classroom study. Pec fest and musical fests are organised here.

Extremely satisfied by exposure opportunities, not so satisfied by placements in aerospace.
Placements: In the 2015-16 session, 5 students of the aerospace department were eligible for placements, out of which 4 were placed. In total, 83 companies visited the campus and 305 offers were made. The placement percentage is 98.85% (263 eligible candidates, 260 placed). 43 job offers proposed an offer of 10 lakhs or above. The average package is around 6-7 lakhs, the lowest package is about 2-3 lakhs and the highest package was 27 lakhs offered by Amazon to students of computer science and IT departments(now we have computer science department only). Companies like JP Morgan, McKinsey, DRDO, HAL and Sukhra Helitek(Aerospace) visited the campus during last placement session. 18 students of the aerospace department got internship placements ( 15 off-campus). Total 405 students were selected for internships and 29 students went abroad for internships.
Infrastructure: Our entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled. Also, the hostels have 24 hours, electricity, water supply and WiFi facilities. The classrooms are well-ventilated. The classrooms in the newly built academic block have air-conditioning systems installed. There is a dispensary in the P.E.C market which offers free medicines and primary treatment. PEC has room for almost all the sports. There are good trainers for every sport including football, cricket, weightlifting, table tennis, athletics, squash, basketball and badminton. There are 3 vast playgrounds in the campus for cricket, football and athletics respectively. The gym has the latest machines. Also, both inter and intra-PEC sports events are held regularly every semester. The labs have all the necessary equipment with sincere lab attendants. The computer department has macs installed in the labs. The mess food quality varies from hostel to hostel, though girls hostel has good food, Himalaya hostel has good food. But, the food is average in other hostels, not bad. The hostel rooms are well-ventilated and give you a decent place to sleep and study.
Faculty: The faculty team is undoubtedly well-qualified. But, the aerospace department is short of professors. Out of 5 professors, only 2 are good ones. The rest have good knowledge, but somehow are unable to convey their message during classes. Also, one can study aerospace only if one is passionate enough to study on his own for 4 years. Industrial lectures are held regularly every semester. For aerospace, being a small branch, the student teacher ratio is 27:1. I advise to take up aerospace only if you have a plan for MS after B.E. Since, only bits of concepts are covered in B.E. The curriculum indeed is useful. An industrial tour was organised at the end of the 3rd semester where we went to HAL Bengaluru, Karnataka. The exposure was good.
Other: The college is best in class because of the opportunities it offers in front of students. No other NIT of the same level has the number of clubs and cultural events that PEC offers to the students. It does not matter what branch you are in, Everyone has equal opportunity to learn, to contribute and to grow. Also, Chandigarh is a peaceful city, safe during the night. The police can be seen patrolling at 2 in the night. The crowd at PEC is better than other government funded institutions. P.E.C does not only teaches students about their respective disciplines but teaches them to manage, organise events, work hard in their co-curriculars and take a stand in society. Also, for students who want to crack GATE, GRE, GMAT or IAS, the best coaching institutes are located in Chandigarh. The college campus is very beautiful with a large number of trees. The playgrounds are well-maintained. The college also offers M.E programs in various disciplines. Kalpana Chawla was an alumnus of aerospace department of PEC. The NSS club of the college is an active member towards social issues. It regularly organises street plays, workshops and NSS camps. Also, there is a provision for NCC, the students can be a part of NCC in their first year itself.

Other: PEC University of Technology formerly known as Punjab engineering college is a one of the most prestigious engineering institutes in India, located at the heart of the city beautiful (Chandigarh). It has a very beautiful campus of 150 acres. Its history starts since 1927 which is even way before Indian independence, so we can say that PEC University of Technology is even older than the independent India. The labs are equipped with the most hi-tech equipment and the college faculty is very highly qualified and experienced which makes the learning experience for the students invaluable. Almost 100 companies visit our campus every year during the placement season and almost all the students are well placed in world class MNCs. Culture wise PEC University of Technology has a great tradition being such an old and established University and since it is in Chandigarh being a very nice city so the campus life is wonderful. PEC fest which is our cultural fest is one of the most awaited college fest of the year in north India.
