Yes, Thapar University follows a seat reservation policy for MBA courses according to the authorised government's seat reservation policy. The seats are reserved for the following categories, such as SC/ST, North Eastern, J &K migrant, NRI and 50 % Punjab Residents. Thapar University does not offer MBA seats through management quota, one has to follow the complete admission procedure and eligibility criteria to get admission to MBA courses. 

Thapar University admission to BE/BTech courses is both entrance and merit-based. TIET 50% seats will be filled on the basis of candidates' performance in the JEE Main entrance exam and the rest 50% is based on the merit of marks secured in Class 12 or equivalent examination in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject. So, for JEE-qualified candidates, the minimum eligibility is to pass Class 12 or equivalent examination with a minimum aggregate of 60% (55% for SC/ ST candidates). Candidates applying on the basis of their Class 12 marks must have passed the examination with not less than 70% marks (65% for SC/ST candidates).

Yes, Thapar University offers merit-based scholarships to students of MCA courses. The scholarship will be awarded in the first year of the course in the second semester. The scholarship will be given to the 10% of admitted strength. Thapar University MCA scholarship will be given on the basis of performance (CGPA obtained) in the first semester of the course. The admission dates for the BTech programme at Thapar University are usually released after the release of JEE Mains admission dates. Currently, the admission for the 2024 batch is closed.
