Candidates who wants to take admission to B Tech in HIMT College first needs to appear in the IMU- CET (Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test) .  It is a national-level common entrance test for admission to B Tech and various coarses at IMU campuses conducted by Indian Maritime University. According to 2023, thoses students who have scored 150 out of 200 in this exam are called for their psychometric test, medical examination followed by panel interview and pre-sea training. Only after clearing all these stages, the candidate is eligible to take admission in HIMT college.

For admission in B Tech at HIMT College, students have to pass IMU-CET examamination.

According to 2023, cut off for opening ranks in general was 179 and cut off for closing ranks in general was 150. In 2022, the overall cut off for IMU-CET was 5- 1349 rank. 

To be eligible for admission to the B Tech programme at HIMT College (Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training), candidates must meet certain criteria. The eligibility criteria are as follows :-

• Educational Qualifications: - Candidates must have completed their 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognised board or university with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Additionally, candidates should have obtained a minimum aggregate score of 60% in these subjects.
• Entrance Exam:-   Applicants seeking admission to the B Tech programme must show up for an entrance exam. The college accepts results from a number of state- and national-level entrance exams, including VITEEE, BITSAT and JEE Main.
• Counseling Process:   After qualifying in the entrance exam, candidates need to participate in the counseling process conducted by HIMT College. During counseling, candidates will be allotted seats based on their merit ranks and availability of seats .
• Document Verification:-  Candidates need to submit all necessary documents during the admission process for verification purposes. These  include mark sheets,   certificates, identity proof,   passport-sized photographs  etc.

The HIMT College (Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training) provides decent opportunities for its students. Step 1: For registration, candidates need to submit the entrance exam score for the respective test they have appeared for admission to different courses. The entrance exam scorecards have to be submitted at the time of registration.

Step 2: Candidates can fill out the HIMT Group of Institutions application form 2024 in both online & offline modes. Candidates can either fill out the form on the official website or submit the hard copy by visiting the campus.

Step 3: The selection process of HIMT Group of Institutions includes an examination of candidates based on their aspirations, and experiences. The admission panel will also evaluate the candidates based on their academic accomplishments during the interview stages of the selection process.

Step 4: Candidates shortlisted as per the course eligibility & selection rounds will have to submit the prescribed admission fee of INR 1,000. Following this, candidates are required to go through the document verification and are intimated about the date of commencement of the classes.

The highest CTC package offered at HIMT College was approximately INR 13 lpa. The placement drive for 2023 batch has been concluded at HIMT College, Chennai. Total 6 recruiter companies offered job opportunities to the students at HIMT. Total 55 students got placed this year. Yes, definitely VIT Chennai offers far better placements than HIMT college. Like in 2022, a total of 118 companies visited VIT campus whereas just  10companies visited HIMT campus. The highest package in VIT was INR 75 LPA whereas in HIMT the highest package was just 12.75 lpa. The median package in 2022 for VIT Chennai was 8 LPA whereas the median package for HIMT was just 4.5 lpa. Therefore placement wise VIT Chennai is a much better college than HIMT .
