UPSEE is Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam which is no londer held. The last UPSEE exam was held in 2020. Since then, it has been replaced by the JEE Main for admission to undergraduate programs in engineering and other fields in Uttar Pradesh.
Now, UPTAC counselling is held for admission of the candidates to the first year of BTech/BArch/BBA/BMS/BCA/BDes/BPharm/BHMCT /BFAD/BFA/BVoc/MBA/MBA (Integrated)/MCA/MCA(Integrated)/M Tech (Integrated) and 2nd Year (Lateral Entry) of BTech/BPharmacy/MCA.
BTech admission are one based on JEE Main scores. BArch admission is done based on NATA scores and for other courses CURT UG / PG scores are used. The admission is granted via the centralised state level counselling called the Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling (UPTAC) conducted by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU).

Q: Â What is meant by UPTAC counselling special round?
The last round of the UPTAC counselling is called the special round. Candidates who have confirmed their seats after last main round of the counselling process are not eligible for this round. Or, all such candidates who have been allotted seats and have paid seat acceptance fee but have not withdrawn in Stage 2 & 3 cannot appear in this round.

UPTAC Counselling Process 2025
The UPTAC counselling process is done in the following stages:
Stage 1- Registration and uploading of documents: Candidates have to register and upload the required documents. This process will be only for the first phase and special phase. To complete the registration, candidates have to pay the registration fees.
Stage 2 - Document verification and responding to queries:Â After stage 1, the uploaded certificates will be verified by the Central Certificate Verification Committee. Confirmation of verification through simple mobile messages (SMS/E-mail).
Stage 3 - Choice filling: The verified candidates have to login to the UPAC portal and fill in the choices.
Stage 4 - Seat allotment: Based on the rank of the candidates and the choices filled by them as per preference, seats are allotted and the allotment result is released online on the official website.
Stage 5 - Willingness submission and seat confirmation: Candidates have to accept the seat by paying the seat acceptance fee. Candidates can submit their willingness for the allotted seats - freeze or float.
Stage 6 - Physical reporting at allotted institute: All candidates who freeze and confirm their seats have to physically report to all allotted institutes.
Q: Â Is class 12 marks also considered in the UPTAC counselling process?
The class 12 marks is not considered while alloting seat to the candidates. BTech seats are allocated based on JEE Main ranks only. However, to be eligible for UPTAC counselling, candidates must have atleast 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates of reserved category) aggregate marks in class 12.
Q: Â Can I exit the UPTAC counselling process and get full refund of fee?
Candidates can withdraw their seats from UPTAC counselling by selecting the "Withdrawal" option. Once a seat is accepted, candidates may choose to withdraw, but they should think carefully before doing so, as AKTU will not permit them to participate in any subsequent rounds.

Age limit: There is no age limit for admission to the courses covered in the counselling.
Nativity: Check various nativity requirements for the UPTAC counselling 2025 below:
- This counselling is open to the candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from any institution located in UP or whose parents are domicile of U.P subject to the eligibility conditions. If the candidate has passed the qualifying examination from outside UP, he/she has to upload the domicile certificate of his/her parents (Father OR Mother only) at the time of registration for online verification and to be produced in the original at the time of offline verification during physical reporting at the Institute where the seat has been allotted.
- This counselling is also open to the candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from any institution located outside UP and whose parents (both Father and mother) are not domicile of UP subject to the eligibility conditions given in this Information Brochure.

No, Admission to the BTech (Bio-Technology) course via UPTAC counselling is done based on the CUET UG course and not JEE Main ranks.
Q: Â Can a foreign candidate apply for the UPTAC counselling?
Yes. As per the UPTAC counselling information borchure - under the approval of AICTE, identified institutions shall admit FN/PIO/CIWGC up to the extent sanctioned by AICTE as per the eligibility criteria and guidelines of the University. These supernumerary seats shall be exclusively meant for the FN/PIO/CIWGC students in undergraduate courses with the condition that under no circumstances a seat remained unfilled shall be allocated to candidates other than a FN/PIO/CIWGC. The candidates, opting for admission under this scheme, need not to appear in any entrance exam. The B.Arch. course does not exist for such candidates.

There is no age limit for admission to the courses covered in the UPTAC counselling. Candidates must read the UPTAC information brochure before they apply for the UPTAC counselling process to understand the eligibility requirements and all the admission related procedures.
UPTAC 2025 Counselling Registration
The candidates who find themselves eligible in the UPTAC counselling as per the subjects they want to take admission to, have to register for the counselling process. Note that the counselling registration opens only at the beginning of the UPTAC counselling and will not open again.

No. The details in the UPTAC application form cannot be changed after the final submission of the UPTAC application form. Before submitting the form, candidates can edit the details as many times as they want. Thus, before finally hitting the submit button and paying the application fee, it is advised that the candidates must read all the filled details carefully and edit any details if needed. Once the form is submitted, the details cannot be edited.
