Q:   Which has better placement at Heritage Institute of Technology, B.Tech in CSE or B.Tech in ECE?

A:

When it comes to placements at Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT), both B.Tech in CSE and B.Tech in ECE have their own strengths and advantages, making it difficult to definitively say which one has "better" placements. The choice can depend on your individual interests, skills, and career aspirations.

B.Tech in CSE:

  • Higher Average Package: Generally speaking,  the average package for CSE graduates at HIT tends to be higher than that for ECE graduates. Recent reports suggest an average package of around INR 6-7 LPA for CSE,  compared to INR 5-6 LPA for ECE.
  • More Top Recruiters: IT giants like Infosys,  Wipro,  TCS,  and Google tend to actively recruit CSE graduates at HIT,  offering opportunities in software development,  cloud computing,  data analytics,  and other high-demand fields.
  • Wide Variety of Roles: With the booming IT sector,  CSE graduates have access to a diverse range of career paths beyond traditional software development,  including cybersecurity,  AI/ML,  and blockchain technology.

B.Tech in ECE:

  • Core Engineering Focus: If you enjoy the hands-on aspects of electronics and hardware,  ECE offers a more core engineering curriculum compared to CSE's software focus.
  • Growing Demand: With advancements in automation and smart devices,  the demand for skilled ECE graduates is on the rise. This opens doors to exciting opportunities in robotics,  telecommunications,  VLSI design,  and embedded systems.
  • Specialist Roles: Beyond IT companies,  leading engineering firms like Tata Advanced Systems and other electronics manufacturers actively recruit ECE graduates,  offering lucrative careers in specific technology domains.

Additional factors to consider:

  • Your Interest: Ultimately,  choosing between CSE and ECE should be based on your genuine interest and aptitude in either field. You'll be dedicating years to the chosen field,  so passion is crucial.
  • Future Career Goals: Do you envision yourself coding and building software solutions in the IT world,  or are you drawn to the more physical aspects of designing and developing electronic hardware?  Aligning your goals with the strengths of each programme is key.
  • Research Industry Trends: Stay updated on current and future trends in both IT and Electronics sectors. This can help you understand the potential growth and job opportunities in each field.

Conclusion:

Neither CSE nor ECE is inherently "better" in terms of placements at HIT. Both offer promising career prospects with unique advantages. Evaluating your personal interests, desired career path, and industry trends will help you make the most informed decision. Consider attending college open houses and speaking to alumni from both programs to gain deeper insights before choosing your B.Tech path at HIT.

Overall review of Heritage Institute Of Technology .
Placements: The placement of Heritage Institute of Technology is overall good. TCS is the mass recruiter of our college. The overall placement rate for this college is approximately 80%, along with an average package of 4-5 LPA. For top branches like CSE, IT, ECE, and sub-branches of CSE, the overall placement rate is approximately 90% and above, along with a 6-7 LPA average package.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure for this college is quite good. Wi-Fi routers are present on each floor of this college and they are freely accessible for the students. In this college, we have a central library where students can study and spend their leisure time. There are also two canteen: one is the main canteen and the other is the labor canteen. The food quality for both canteens is decent.
Faculty: For me, most of the faculty members are great and supportive, and they also help in giving notes for the exams along with the PYQs. However, some of the faculty members are not that cooperative. The examination pattern and the syllabus are quite well-structured and make it easy for every student to score decent marks at the end semester.

Studies are good but there is no college life and no fest and no events.
Placements: Hello everyone, I am from the information technology branch, and in my branch, there are almost 60 students. Placement is very good, especially in top branches like CSE and IT. The average package of top branches is 6-8 LPA, and the highest package is 45 LPA. TCS, Wipro, and Cognizant are the top recruiting companies.
Infrastructure: In my college, labs are well maintained and fully modern. Labs are well-equipped with all modern technologies and Wi-Fi. There are almost 150-200 classrooms in my college apart from labs. The library is most beautiful, especially in my heritage campus. Hostels are not available for boys, only available for girls.
Faculty: All the faculty members are highly supportive and kind by nature. The information technology course is the course that will be in demand in the next few years. In my college, the semester is tough, but if you prepared well, then you will be able to crack it easily. Passing percentage is almost 45% in each subject.
Other: I am really interested in technology, so that's why I am choosing my career in this field by taking information technology. In my college, there is no fest and no event, only study and exams, so don't hope for a fest.

College is good only for TFW students.
Placements: Almost 90% students placed, but only few get dream offer. The lowest in teach branch is 3 LPA, and the highest is 10.50 LPA. Top recruiters are TCS, Infosys, IBM (ONLY GIRLS), ORACLE (10.50 LPA). Internship is rare; only few got for their skills. If you do, you do.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is bad until you SEE other WBJEE colleges in West Bengal. Wi-Fi is only available in the library. Hostels are only available for girls on campus, not for boys. And you will not stay in college after 7 pm. Canteen facility is awesome.
Faculty: Faculty are like they doing 9-5 job. But all are well-qualified; some are from Jadavpur University. Eng. courses are irrelevant because we all want teach-related things, but our as usual education system taught irrelevant things since childhood. Semester exams are easy.
Other: Fest is not here. I want to wish improve everything, especially sports.

Life at HITK - A new journey to explore.
Placements: According to recent data, there is moderate placement from IT department with an average package of 4-6LPA. The highest package of this year is 12LPA till now for CSE branch and for IT branch is not known yet. Top Recruiters are TCS, Capgemini, Wipro, and many startup companies.
Infrastructure: The classroom of HITK is good and will give a solid 4 out of 5 as the rooms are big and spacious with a capacity of 60-70 students. The Library of HITK is the best attraction for the students due to its ambience and the number of books are around 20k+. Wi-fi connection is available but is poor in ICT building and is strong in CB and CME buildings.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and guide us in the specific subject quite well by providing notes and question paper of previous year. The curriculum for IT department is not quite relevant according to the current scenario. They still teach us some old subjects which are not required. The semester exams are not so tough to get a decent score. Just follow the class and the notes provided by the teachers.
Other: I chose this course according to my WBJEE rank and I always believe that after CSE Core branch is IT. So I got admitted in this branch. I wish the syllabus was new and according to current demand. There is no such fests in the college due to some internal issues. But many Clubs are there to participate and enjoy.

Is Heritage institute of technology worthy?
Placements: Talking about placement for the 2024 session, about 40% to 50% of students got placed and the big thing is that in such a downturn of the market, companies like TCS and IBM were there to hire on campus. So we can say that placement is decent in the college.
Infrastructure: Talking about facilities and infrastructure, labs are equipped with well-qualified lab technicians. On-campus Wi-Fi facilities are also available for the students but the biggest drawback is that on-campus hostels for boys are not available.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful but most of the time they communicate in their native language, Bengal, which can be difficult for freshers from outside West Bengal to understand. Sometimes even some faculty members exhibit bias on the basis of state. Talking about semester exams, anyone can score well; you just have to take lecture notes regularly and solve previous-year question papers.
Other: The information technology department is quite good but strict as well. The department is strict about attendance; they even call parents regarding less attendance and also conduct PTM, which gives school-like vibes in college.

Additionally, they should have qualified for the joint entrance examination conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board.

2. Entrance Examinations:

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.

Q:   Can I join Heritage Institute of Technology directly?

A:

Whether you can directly join Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT) depends on what you mean by "directly." Here are the different ways of joining HIT:

Regular Admissions:

  • No direct admissions: Unfortunately,  HIT doesn't offer direct admissions for any B.Tech program. You need to go through the regular admission process,  which involves:
    • Qualifying in either WBJEE or JEE Main exams.
    • Meeting the minimum cut-off score for your desired program.
    • Participating in the counselling process and securing a seat based on your rank and programme choices.

Other Admission Options:

  • Lateral Entry: If you've completed a Diploma in engineering,  you can apply for lateral entry to the second year of a B.Tech programme at HIT. Admission is based on a separate entrance exam conducted by WBJEE.
  • Management Quota: Some seats in each B.Tech programme are reserved under the Management Quota. While not "direct" in the strict sense,  this might offer an alternative route for admission if you meet the eligibility criteria and pay the required fees.

Important Points:

  • The Management Quota seats are limited and admission isn't guaranteed. Merit and other criteria set by the institute determine selection.
  • Regardless of the quota you apply under,  fulfilling the program's eligibility criteria (e.g.,  minimum percentage in qualifying exams) remains mandatory.

Recommendations:

  • Check the official HIT website or contact the admissions office for the latest information on B.Tech admission procedures and specific eligibility requirements for different options.
  • Focus on preparing for WBJEE or JEE Main if aiming for regular admission through merit.
  • Explore the Management Quota option only if the regular admission process doesn't work out and ensure you meet the set criteria.

OBC rank is not applicable in Heritage Institute of Technology. So you have to take admission with the general rank. With this rank, you will not get any branches in Heritage.
