Q:   How are B.Tech placements at Heritage Institute of Technology?

A:

Every year, approximately 80–90% of BTech CSE students get placed during Heritage Institute of Technology placements in 2022. The placement cell of the college is very active and developed. This is a significant and positive statistic, indicating a strong placement record for the institute. A high placement percentage suggests that a substantial majority of students were able to find suitable job opportunities before or upon graduation.

In 2022, the highest CTC offered was INR 44 LPA, and the average CTC was INR 13 LPA.

In 2023, almost 90% of students got placed in IT companies like TCS, Cognizant, and Infosys. The average salary package offered ranges from 6 LPA to 7 LPA and the highest package being 15 Lacs per annum. This average package is a notable benchmark, reflecting the competitive opportunities available to CSE graduates from the institute. The average package can vary based on factors such as individual student performance, the demand for skills in the job market, and the reputation of the recruiting companies.

HIT has an excellent placement record, with more than 500 students placed annually and the placement cell organizes orientation programs, mock interviews, and grooming sessions for students. Top companies like Google, Amazon, TCS, Infosys, and Wipro participate in the recruitment process.

Q:   Which has better placement at Heritage Institute of Technology, B.Tech in CSE or B.Tech in ECE?

A:

When it comes to placements at Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT), both B.Tech in CSE and B.Tech in ECE have their own strengths and advantages, making it difficult to definitively say which one has "better" placements. The choice can depend on your individual interests, skills, and career aspirations.

B.Tech in CSE:

  • Higher Average Package: Generally speaking,  the average package for CSE graduates at HIT tends to be higher than that for ECE graduates. Recent reports suggest an average package of around INR 6-7 LPA for CSE,  compared to INR 5-6 LPA for ECE.
  • More Top Recruiters: IT giants like Infosys,  Wipro,  TCS,  and Google tend to actively recruit CSE graduates at HIT,  offering opportunities in software development,  cloud computing,  data analytics,  and other high-demand fields.
  • Wide Variety of Roles: With the booming IT sector,  CSE graduates have access to a diverse range of career paths beyond traditional software development,  including cybersecurity,  AI/ML,  and blockchain technology.

B.Tech in ECE:

  • Core Engineering Focus: If you enjoy the hands-on aspects of electronics and hardware,  ECE offers a more core engineering curriculum compared to CSE's software focus.
  • Growing Demand: With advancements in automation and smart devices,  the demand for skilled ECE graduates is on the rise. This opens doors to exciting opportunities in robotics,  telecommunications,  VLSI design,  and embedded systems.
  • Specialist Roles: Beyond IT companies,  leading engineering firms like Tata Advanced Systems and other electronics manufacturers actively recruit ECE graduates,  offering lucrative careers in specific technology domains.

Additional factors to consider:

  • Your Interest: Ultimately,  choosing between CSE and ECE should be based on your genuine interest and aptitude in either field. You'll be dedicating years to the chosen field,  so passion is crucial.
  • Future Career Goals: Do you envision yourself coding and building software solutions in the IT world,  or are you drawn to the more physical aspects of designing and developing electronic hardware?  Aligning your goals with the strengths of each programme is key.
  • Research Industry Trends: Stay updated on current and future trends in both IT and Electronics sectors. This can help you understand the potential growth and job opportunities in each field.

Conclusion:

Neither CSE nor ECE is inherently "better" in terms of placements at HIT. Both offer promising career prospects with unique advantages. Evaluating your personal interests, desired career path, and industry trends will help you make the most informed decision. Consider attending college open houses and speaking to alumni from both programs to gain deeper insights before choosing your B.Tech path at HIT.

Life at HITK - A new journey to explore.
Placements: According to recent data, there is moderate placement from IT department with an average package of 4-6LPA. The highest package of this year is 12LPA till now for CSE branch and for IT branch is not known yet. Top Recruiters are TCS, Capgemini, Wipro, and many startup companies.
Infrastructure: The classroom of HITK is good and will give a solid 4 out of 5 as the rooms are big and spacious with a capacity of 60-70 students. The Library of HITK is the best attraction for the students due to its ambience and the number of books are around 20k+. Wi-fi connection is available but is poor in ICT building and is strong in CB and CME buildings.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and guide us in the specific subject quite well by providing notes and question paper of previous year. The curriculum for IT department is not quite relevant according to the current scenario. They still teach us some old subjects which are not required. The semester exams are not so tough to get a decent score. Just follow the class and the notes provided by the teachers.
Other: I chose this course according to my WBJEE rank and I always believe that after CSE Core branch is IT. So I got admitted in this branch. I wish the syllabus was new and according to current demand. There is no such fests in the college due to some internal issues. But many Clubs are there to participate and enjoy.

Heritage Institute of Technology : Experience and About.
Placements: The teach branches have a placement ratio of 85-90% in teach companies like TCS (mass recruiters ), adobe, wipro, cognizant the highest packages go upto 15-16 LPA and average package is around 4-4.5 LPA talking about the core branches the ratio is upto 80 % and package is also decent.
Infrastructure: The Heritage campus is fully equipped with Wi-Fi and it also has a beautiful garden in front, classrooms is equipped with projectors and library is one of the best facilities in the college. The library has central air conditioned and you will find wide variety of books related to any topic you can think of.
Faculty: The teaching faculty is highly qualified and have great expertise in the designed branch but to be honest few are really rude and strict. The course syllabus is quite relevant and modern topics are included in it. The semester exams are quite moderate- difficult but you have notes then you can easily score decent grades.
Other: I chose Information Technology as my branch because I see ever increasing opportunities in future years and also I am interested in coding and developing field. Overall the course is quite updated with modern world topics and technical fields but syllabus is a bit vast. Hit-K has various clubs like dance drama photography coding gaming singing etc. And clubs oragnise major events you can take part to socialize and build network, Also there are big grounds for almost every sport and sports are quite competitive here.

Is Heritage institute of technology worthy?
Placements: Talking about placement for the 2024 session, about 40% to 50% of students got placed and the big thing is that in such a downturn of the market, companies like TCS and IBM were there to hire on campus. So we can say that placement is decent in the college.
Infrastructure: Talking about facilities and infrastructure, labs are equipped with well-qualified lab technicians. On-campus Wi-Fi facilities are also available for the students but the biggest drawback is that on-campus hostels for boys are not available.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful but most of the time they communicate in their native language, Bengal, which can be difficult for freshers from outside West Bengal to understand. Sometimes even some faculty members exhibit bias on the basis of state. Talking about semester exams, anyone can score well; you just have to take lecture notes regularly and solve previous-year question papers.
Other: The information technology department is quite good but strict as well. The department is strict about attendance; they even call parents regarding less attendance and also conduct PTM, which gives school-like vibes in college.

The best private college in West Bengal for engineering.
Placements: Hi, my name is Shaan Prasad Shah, and currently I am doing my B.Tech. from HITK in information technology. Companies like TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, Infosys, etc. visit our college for campus placement. The average package of HITK is INR 4.5 lacs. The highest package can go up to INR 10–12 lacs.
Infrastructure: In our heritage institute of technology, the infrastructure is very good. The college has a fully air-conditioned library. The labs are very good. Computer labs also have air conditioning. The college has its own Wi-Fi, which one can access from any floor of the college. Sports like cricket, basketball, volleyball, football, etc. can be played here.
Faculty: The faculty at HITK are very good and supportive. All the faculty have a helping nature and help students in every possible way. The qualifications of the faculty are at the Ph.D. level. As our college is autonomous, the exams here are a little easier to pass as compared to other colleges because the questions come from where the teacher teaches.

HITK Overall Review of IT Field
Placements: Almost 100% of passed students get a job, with an average placement of 4.5 LPA. The maximum on-campus placement is 16 LPA, and the lowest package offered is 1.8 LPA. Top recruiting companies in recent years include Cognizant, Cozeva, TCS, Wipro, EY, Deloitte, and many more. There are only a few companies offering internships at the college. The top role offered in this course is as a web developer.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure for the course/department are good. The college has Wi-Fi on campus, but the campus is not very large. The library is one of the best facilities provided by the college, with all the required textbooks, novels, and air conditioning, open until 8 PM on regular days. Classrooms are good, with a capacity of 70 students and equipped with projectors, greenboards, and whiteboards. Hostel facilities are only available for girls and first-year boys and are average for living. The canteen is also good but somewhat expensive. Sports facilities are good for cricket, archery, basketball, and indoor sports like table tennis; other sports are only seen during sports week.
Faculty: Faculty members are not very helpful; some are, but not all. They mostly have Master's degrees from Calcutta University and Jadavpur University, with some also holding Ph.D. degrees in their respective fields. Teaching quality is good, but there is a language barrier for non-Bengali speakers. The course curriculum is relevant enough to get a basic job in the industry, but not exceptional. College semesters are not easy if you want to enjoy college life. The college conducts three surprise tests along with one mid-semester exam, with a compulsory attendance requirement of 75%. The pass percentage is 33%.
Other: The B.Tech in Information Technology has good placement opportunities, but the faculty members are not as supportive as in other departments of the college. Choosing CSE is a good option as they have more supportive faculty members. The courses are similar to CSE, but the teachers are more supportive in CSE. There have been no fests or activities for the past three to four years. However, there are clubs for exploring different fields like coding, drama, singing, literature, dancing, fashion, etc.

Students also asked

Q:   Can I join Heritage Institute of Technology directly?

A:

Whether you can directly join Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT) depends on what you mean by "directly." Here are the different ways of joining HIT:

Regular Admissions:

  • No direct admissions: Unfortunately,  HIT doesn't offer direct admissions for any B.Tech program. You need to go through the regular admission process,  which involves:
    • Qualifying in either WBJEE or JEE Main exams.
    • Meeting the minimum cut-off score for your desired program.
    • Participating in the counselling process and securing a seat based on your rank and programme choices.

Other Admission Options:

  • Lateral Entry: If you've completed a Diploma in engineering,  you can apply for lateral entry to the second year of a B.Tech programme at HIT. Admission is based on a separate entrance exam conducted by WBJEE.
  • Management Quota: Some seats in each B.Tech programme are reserved under the Management Quota. While not "direct" in the strict sense,  this might offer an alternative route for admission if you meet the eligibility criteria and pay the required fees.

Important Points:

  • The Management Quota seats are limited and admission isn't guaranteed. Merit and other criteria set by the institute determine selection.
  • Regardless of the quota you apply under,  fulfilling the program's eligibility criteria (e.g.,  minimum percentage in qualifying exams) remains mandatory.

Recommendations:

  • Check the official HIT website or contact the admissions office for the latest information on B.Tech admission procedures and specific eligibility requirements for different options.
  • Focus on preparing for WBJEE or JEE Main if aiming for regular admission through merit.
  • Explore the Management Quota option only if the regular admission process doesn't work out and ensure you meet the set criteria.

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.

Q:   How many students can do B.Tech at Heritage Institute of Technology?

A:

The Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programme has a duration of four years and follows specific admission criteria:

1. Eligibility:

  • Candidates need to have completed their H.S. (10+2) examination from the Council of Higher Secondary Education, West Bengal, or an equivalent qualification. Additionally, they should have qualified for the joint entrance examination conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board.

2. Entrance Examinations:

  • Prospective students need to qualify for either the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEE) or the JEE (Main) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education. The candidates should be recommended by the WBJEE Board.

3. Seat Allocation:

  • 80% of the seats are reserved for qualified WBJEE candidates.
  • 10% of the seats are allocated to qualified JEE (main) candidates.
  • An additional 10% of seats are reserved under the Management Quota for candidates with valid rank cards for WBJEE or JEE (Main).

4. Lateral Entry:

  • In the second year, there is provision for an additional intake of 10% of the approved intake.
  • This is specifically for Diploma holders and B.Sc. degree holders who qualify through the Joint Entrance Examination for Lateral Entry (JELET) conducted by the WBJEE Board. Candidates have to score an aggregate of 45% in the three compulsory subjects in the 10+2 to apply for the WBJEE 2024 exam.

OBC rank is not applicable in Heritage Institute of Technology. So you have to take admission with the general rank. With this rank, you will not get any branches in Heritage.
