Q:   Which is a better college for BA and BA (Hons) courses: Hindu College or Miranda House?

    A:

The following table mentions a comparison between both these top colleges of DU for their undergraduate courses in the field of Arts and Humanities:

    College Name

    BA Fee Range

    Median Salary (UG 3-year)

    Hindu College

    INR 6 LPA

Based on the details mentioned in the above table, it can be concluded that both these colleges are equally good and candidates can go for any of the two options where they qualify for admission. But the gap is too small to be considered in rating a college better than the other. Miranda7 Hindu College with other colleges here

Q:   Which is a better college among Hindu College, LSR and Hansraj for BA (Hons) admission?

    A:

All these colleges under the University of Delhi, namely Hindu, Hans Raj and LSR are considered to be the top colleges for Arts, Science and Commerce education. The following table contains a fee range and median salary comparison of Hans Raj College with other top colleges of DU offering BA & BA (Hons) courses:

    College Name

BA & BA (Hons) Fee Range

BA & BA (Hons) Median Salary

    Hans Raj College

    INR 540*

    INR 6.50 LPA

    Hindu College

    INR 52,680 - INR 52,770*

    INR 7.11 LPA

    LSR College

    INR 46,110 - INR 77,610*

    INR 6.5 LPA

*The above fee and salary information is taken from unofficial sources and hence, is indicative. Students are requested to visit the official website to get more details on the same.

Based on the components mentioned in the above table, Hans Raj College seems to be the most affordableoption of the three. However, that is not the same. After adding all the other admission fee components in the tuition fee, the total fee for BA (Hons) will go almost to the level of LSR and Hindu. However, the median salary offered at all the three is closed to each other with Hindu being on the top. Hence, students are required to consider the return on investment by comparing the overall fee and return salary to make a final decision. The final decition must also depend on the availability of the specialisation that a sudent is willing to get into and other factors, such as location proximity with their residence, preference of course available, among others

Engaging course curriculum with supportive faculty members and Vibrant Campus Life.
Placements: Around 80% of students in our course were placed. The highest salary package offered was 20 LPA, the average salary package offered was 8 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was around 4 LPA. Some of the top companies hiring from our course include Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Amazon, and Deloitte. About 70% of students in the course received internships. Popular companies offering internships include Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Accenture. Some of the key roles offered to students from our course include Software Developer, Data Analyst, Business Analyst, and Consultant.
Infrastructure: For our course, we have access to well-equipped labs with updated software, spacious classrooms with projectors, and high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the campus. There is a well-stocked library with a good selection of books and journals. Hostel facilities are decent, with clean rooms, a 24/7 water supply, and good security. Mess food is average but offers a balanced diet, while the canteen provides more varieties. Basic medical facilities are available on campus with a doctor visiting regularly. Sports facilities include a gym, basketball court, cricket ground, and indoor games, encouraging physical activity and recreation.
Faculty: Faculty members are helpful, well-qualified, and knowledgeable, making learning easier. Teaching quality is good, with practical examples and interactive sessions. The course curriculum is mostly relevant and includes projects and assignments that help to make students industry-ready. Semester exams are moderate in difficulty, students who studied regularly find them manageable. The pass percentage is around 85-90%, reflecting supportive teaching and a balanced exam approach.
Other: I chose English Honours because I have a passion for literature, writing, and language, and it helps me develop strong communication skills. The best things about the course are the deep insights into different genres of literature, creative writing opportunities, and the development of critical thinking. I wish the course could offer more practical applications, such as internships or industry-related exposure. Campus is lively with various events and fests, and the crowd is diverse and engaging. Connectivity is good, and the campus surroundings are peaceful. There are also scholarships and extracurricular activities like debates, drama, and book clubs to explore beyond academics.

Placements: The placement rate at Hindu College is about 70%, with 80% of students getting placed. The highest salary offered was 24 LPA, while the average was 8-10 LPA. Top companies that hire from the college include BCG, Bain, EY, Deloitte, and D.E. Shaw. A handful of students get internships at big companies like Goldman Sachs. Top roles include research analyst and investment research.
Infrastructure: The campus has good wifi but the classrooms have AC that doesn't work. The college is building a new library that will be the best in the entire north campus. The boys hostel is under construction, but the girls hostel is in good condition and the food is really good.
Faculty: The teachers at this college are very qualified, with all of them holding master's degrees from foreign universities and having at least 10-15 years of teaching experience. However, they don't teach well, perhaps because they have a government job and do it accordingly. The course is very industry-relevant, and it is one of the toughest courses in the Delhi University system and in all of undergraduate education.
Other: The events are really good and as people say, the vibe of North Campus is good and it is felt here.

Fully satisfied, excellent placements, satisfactory facilities
Placements: Approximately 60% of Eco Hons. students got placed, while the remaining 40% includes students who wanted to pursue higher education or prepare for government exams. The highest, lowest, and average package offered for our course were 23 LPA, 5-6 LPA, and 9.5 LPA, respectively. Top recruiting companies included Deloitte, Bain & Company, DE Shaw, ZS Associates, and Barclays. Approximately 40% of students secured internships, mainly at Wells Fargo, DE Shaw, and Gartner. Top roles offered for our course were Consultant and Financial Analyst.
Infrastructure: The benches are not furnished, and the AC doesn't work well at all times. Being male, my hostel was under construction during my graduation, but I heard the girls' hostel was pretty good; it was private, and the value for money was reasonable.
Faculty: The teachers were quite good at teaching, handling students, and being very helpful. Their teaching style made the class interactive and interesting. The curriculum is not fully relevant, but it prepares students to take their first step into the industry. Being a tough course, the exams were above average, and the passing percentage was over 80%.

A detailed review of my experience at Hindu College.
Placements: The placements cell, comprising the brightest students, secures the best internships and placements. The average placement package is 9 lakhs per annum, with offers going up to 30-40 lakhs per annum. Companies visit the college for campus placements, and recruitment starts in the 5th semester for 3rd-year students.
Infrastructure: The campus is very open, with classrooms divided by department, and multiple labs for each department. There is a research block restricted to specific people. The campus has two canteens, a giant amphitheater, and multiple lawns. The library, one of the oldest, is multi-story and has great air conditioning.
Faculty: The teacher-student ratio is very high, but the teachers are helpful and qualified. However, the teaching methods remain quite old-school. The curriculum is well-developed, offering great opportunities to make students industry-ready. There are semester-end exams, and the syllabus changes twice a year after every exam.

Satisfied with the course, its faculty, and the infrastructure.
Placements: In my batch, there were 101 students. Talking about placement, I will keep it in a poor category but else other things were good. There is a society called Disha placement cell. They provide you with the placements but I don't have much idea about their working.
Infrastructure: There is no wifi for students but labs are there, especially for the students who are taking science courses. And classrooms are pretty good and spacious as well. Some of the classrooms have air conditioners too. The library is also very spacious with 3-4 floors and you can find every book in it easily.
Faculty: The faculty was very good. Apart from some teachers, others were great and helpful as well. Semester exams are not very difficult. You need to study well and with some focus and you can score a decent percentage easily. Coming to me, I didn't put in a lot of effort but scored 75% .
Other: I chose this course because of my interest, which was developed in school days. Some things can become better but rest assured, everything is fine. Talking about events, college organized many events and one of them is the biggest fest of Delhi University called MECCA.
