Q:   Is BSc and BSc (Hons) admission at DU (Hindu College) entrance based?

    A:

Hindu College admission to all the programmes is entrance-based. While the college accepts CUET UG exam for admission to its UG courses, such as BA, BSc and BCom, admission to all the postgraduate programmes is based on the scores obtained by students in the CUET- PG exam (starting admission 2023). The institute along with DU started accepting CUET UG from 2022 onward and the CUET PG from the 2023 session onward. Before this, admission to UG was subject to merit scores obtained by the students in Class 12 and PG admission was mostly subject to DUET exam previously conducted by DU. However, the university still accepts ECA quota admissions.

Nice opportunities to interact and build networks.
Placements: Students are actually provided with placements and internships. The average placement was recorded as 9 LPA. Besides, there are some skills to be taught throughout the course along with the theory part. Ultimately, it also depends on the students. Many of them opt for competitive exams.
Infrastructure: I would say the infrastructure is great. Starting with the amphitheatre, Sanganeria Auditorium for grand events, Sushila Devi Auditorium for interactive sessions, an open cafeteria, canteen, sports complex with a basketball court, volleyball court, and cricket pitch as well.
Faculty: The faculty is great. They teach well and interact great, and they all will guide you with whatever they can. They clear all the doubts and are great mentors. The curriculum needs some updates, including more practical topics to be included. Also, the exams went on so quickly since we had limited prep time, which is a problem as time wasn't sufficient.

Life at Hindu College: Great Academics with Vibrant Campus Experience
Placements: Hindu Colleges B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics programme has an active placement cell that facilitates job opportunities for its students. Graduates have secured positions with average salary packages ranging from 5 to 6 Lacs per annum, with the highest packages reaching up to 14 to 16 Lacs per annum. However, placement success largely depends on individual student efforts and performance.
Infrastructure: Hindu College offers well-maintained hostel facilities with separate accommodation for boys and girls. The boys' hostel has spacious rooms, a common room, and easy access to sports facilities. The girls' hostel provides modern amenities, including air-conditioned rooms, laundry services, and 24/7 security. However, limited hostel seats make securing accommodation highly competitive.
Faculty: Hindu Colleges B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics programme is supported by a distinguished faculty, including Dr. Kanta Garg and Dr. Bindu Bansal, among others. The curriculum encompasses subjects such as Algebra, Calculus, Real Analysis, and Differential Equations with assessment conducted through a combination of internal evaluation and end-semester examinations.

Happy with both placements and infrastructure.
Placements: The placement facility for my course is good but not sufficient, as we had average placement opportunities with a low percentage of students. We have to go to the company ourselves, approaching for jobs in internships. Most students do not get placements in their core subjects.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of a college is very good; we could have an auditorium-free, Wi-Fi-free, big ground, sports room facilities, library facilities, medical room facilities, etc. The cafeteria is also there and the food is very good. Hostel facilities are present and there is a market nearby.
Faculty: Teachers are very intelligent and knowledgeable; they enlighten us with their knowledge and help us with online and offline material exams. Regularly held tests are weakly conducted by the teachers. We have the facilities to conduct experiments related to course .
Other: Various fests and events held on the college campus make it so easy to make good connections with students and societies are active in extracurricular activities.

Hindu College - The Heart of North Campus.
Placements: Top recruiting companies are KPMG, Accenture, etc. In our course, around 20-30% of people get placed every year and the top roles offered are data analyst, business analyst, etc. The average package is around 9 Lacs. The highest package was 36 Lacs in 2023.
Infrastructure: Only the library, college building have Wi-Fi facility, but the student union may place more routers on the campus. The infrastructure of the college is very beautiful. The food quality has improved and the hostel facility is also good. Although, there are not much games available for us to play. They are limited to only volleyball, cricket, basketball, and football.
Faculty: The teachers of the college are really helpful. However, the curriculum is quite old school, there are additional ability enhancement courses to equip students with skills, but the pressure of core subjects is enough for us and we mostly choose subjects that do not require a theory exam.
Other: The best thing about my course would be that it’s very analytical, and being a person who is interested in the field, I like challenging myself. I think the facilities can be improved a little, like adding more sports activities and ensuring that there is stable Wi-Fi all across the college because there is mostly a network issue.

My College Review: THE MOST EXCITING EXPERIENCE.
Placements: There are total 92 students in my department. The average package offered in my course is 7 to 8 Lacs. Right now I am in first year and sorry I don't have much knowledge about these companies and internships, but I probably know the student percent that got internship i.e., 60%.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of my course as well as my college is fantastic. The classes have air conditioning and Wi-Fi facility. All Science departments have their own lab. There are 2 libraries in my college. I don't live in college hostel, but I have heard that the food is of good quality. College consists of a girls' common room, sports, and games like basketball, football, volleyball, cricket, etc.
Faculty: The faculty members here are well-qualified, helpful, and teach very well. Yes, this course is relevant, it does make the student industry-ready as the college has its own research centre. Last month there was a green hydrogen programme for us, and we visited the IOCL industry in Faridabad. The semester exams are easy to moderate in terms of difficulty level.
Other: I chose this course because I love studying Chemistry. The best thing I like about my course is my lab. I wish the classes should be better as only in my department there are no AC in the classes. The biggest fest in my college is Mecca, which is done every year in the month of February. Other festival events like Diwali Mela, Dandiya night, etc., are also celebrated. My college also provides scholarships to meritorious students, like Premvati Raghubir Singh Scholarships, RB Ram Krishna Das scholarship, etc.
